This issue features the new 18-hole golf course at Esplanade at Azario Lakewood Ranch community, which is now officially open to the public, as of mid-May and to rave reviews. The 18-hole course was designed by golf course architect Chris Wilczynski, and is managed by Pope Golf. With six sets of tees that play from 3,500 to more than 7,000 yards, the layout includes wide fairways and strategic bunkering. In addition, we will greatly miss Bobby Jones, as it has been closed for renovations, but look forward to their grand re-opening for next year.

The golf course, which sits within the approximately 1,000-acre Azario Lakewood Ranch community, provides homes with picturesque views and a serene setting. Five of the Esplanade at Azario holes are played along and through mature oaks and pines.

Hole 12, named “Enclave,” plays to a raised green surrounded by several deep bunkers and Florida’s native vegetation. Hole 17, “Big Oak,” requires a bold tee shot across a lake to the multitiered 9,000 square foot green, adjacent to the largest native oak on the property. Wilczynski’s signature touch of building within mature trees is visible throughout, elevating the beauty and memorability of the GolfCoastMagazine.com

course. With six sets of tees that play from 3,500 to over 7,000 yards, the layout features wide fairways, randomly placed strategic bunkering and 18 masterfully designed greens.

Working with a flat canvas, the team turned the presented obstacles into beautiful solutions. To add dimension to the otherwise flat land, Wilczynski and his team dug several large manmade lakes and used the soil from the excavation to construct the golf course, residential lot pads and roads.

“The extensive earthmoving and detailed landscape that we created for each hole brings a dramatic transformation to the original property, which is not found elsewhere,” said Wilczynski.

Tatum Ridge is conveniently located approximately 2 miles east of I-75 off of Fruitville Road (exit 210). Turn left off of Fruitville Road onto Tatum Road and you’re there.

Tatum Ridge Golf Links is a Scottish-style links course complemented by preserved wetlands and 11 lakes in a natural setting, with plenty of wild life and nature at its best. We have been “Sarasota’s Fun Course to Play” since 1989. Our signature hole is the 504-yard, par 5, 13th, a dogleg right over water. A large practice facilty offers grass tees, chipping from grass and bunkers, and an 18-hole putting green. Lessons are available by appointment. Proper golf attire and soft spikes are required. Fox Hollow Golf C This Tampa Bay Favorite Keeps Getting Better

Fox Hollow Golf Club, is one of the premier golf course in the state of Florida and was recently rated 57th by Golf Digest’s “Top 75 Courses Accessible to the Public in Florida.” As a testament to the quality of the golf course, Fox Hollow has hosted U.S. Open and U.S. Amateur qualifiers as well as qualifiers for the Valspar Championship, a PGA Tour event played at nearby Innisbrook resort.

Opening in 1994, the Fox Hollow golf course has the distinction of being one of the last courses designed and built by Robert Trent Jones, Senior, one of the most prolific and innovative golf course designers of all time. Opened in April 1993, World Woods Golf Club has since firmly established itself as one of North America’s finest golf facilities. World-renowned architect Tom Fazio carved two distinctly different courses out of ancient live oak groves and pine tree forests along the rolling terrain of Florida’s Nature Coast in northwest Hernando County. “We didn’t start by designing golf holes, “ said Fazio. “We began by viewing the big picture, the land mass, the scale, the concept. We allowed the land to tell us what to do.”

Pine Barrens is an intimidating layout named for its large number of pine trees and barren waste areas. Its terrain is reminiscent of the sand hills of North Carolina.
