With major golf events forming a key part of that philosophy, Te Arai Links chose Golf Genius to run its Club Championship, Member-Member and Season-Long OOM events.
Member-Guest Style Pairs Events
Online registration allows golfers to register as pairs or teams into Te Arai Links’ Member/ Member and season-long pairs events.
Season-Long OOMs
From October to March, Te Arai Links runs a multi-round pairs competition for golfers across several weeks. Players accumulate points during each round to determine a winning pair.

Creating a platform to launch major golf events successfully.
1. WHY ARE TOURNAMENTS IMPORTANT TO TE ARAI LINKS?
We service a wide variety of different guests and members - younger guys that like to have a little bit of music and a drink along the way, as well as people that like to experience a more traditional golfing experience. However, they all want to have fun, and we’re here to provide a nice, fun golf experience. Golf competitions provide us with a great channel to do that.
2. WHAT WERE YOU LOOKING FOR IN YOUR TOURNAMENT MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE?
We were really looking for a broad platform that could cover a lot of aspects of tournament management – a one stop gap to fill all of our needs. Golf Genius does a good job of filling all of those holes. From creating and running an event to communicating with our members, the system can do it all.
3. WHAT EVENTS AND COMPETITIONS HAVE YOU USED GOLF GENIUS FOR?
So far, we’ve used Golf Genius to host and run our season long pairs match play in the off-season. We also ran our first club championship and Member-Member event in the system too. I think these types of events are very important to club culture at Te Arai links; they give people an opportunity to experience camaraderie, fun and competitive spirit all in one.
4. HOW DID THE SEASON-LONG EVENT WORK IN GOLF GENIUS?
We had 64 men’s teams of two and 36 ladies’ teams of two. You could imagine that became a large event with a lot of people to manage over a six month period of time. Golf Genius was a very valuable resource here, as it allowed us to market the event, collect golfer registrations and manage the scoring elements through the creation of personalised scorecards and leaderboard brackets. I could only imagine the plethora of other different software programs we’d need if we did not have Golf Genius.
5. CAN GOLF GENIUS WORK FOR OTHER GOLF CLUBS IN NEW ZEALAND?
Golf Genius is being used not only by us, but also clubs such as The Hills, Hastings, Te Anau, and Royal Auckland. I would certainly recommend it to just about every club, even the smaller clubs that might not need it for as many things - they can certainly lift the professionalism of any event that they run.
