Animal Welfare
Pilgrim’s has adopted the science-based guidelines for animal welfare issued by the National Chicken Council. All of our complexes are audited on a regular basis to ensure compliance with these guidelines. If a deficiency is identified, immediate corrective action is taken and follow-up audits are scheduled until the issue is resolved.
In addition, all Pilgrim’s employees who handle live birds are required to complete animal-welfare training on an annual basis. Our contract growers receive similar training. All are required to sign a training compliance form indicating that they have received this training and understand their responsibilities regarding our animal welfare program.
Employees or growers who violate the Pilgrim’s animal welfare policy and associated procedures will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment or termination of their grower contract.

A whole grain hoagie roll, stuffed with Gold Kist Chicken Whole Grain Breaded Nuggets (615300) tossed in a Buffalo-style sauce, finished with a drizzle of Bleu cheese dressing.
Ingredients and Preparation
20 Pounds Gold Kist® Fully Cooked Whole Grain Home-Style Breaded Chicken Nuggets Nugget Shaped Chicken Patties (615300)
6 1/4 Quarts Buffalo sauce (low-sodium)
100 Rolls Whole Wheat Hoagie Rolls
6 1/4 cups Lite Blue cheese dressing
1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Arrange chicken nuggets in a single layer on anungreased sheet pan. Bake for 10-14 minutes in a conventional oven or 8-10 minutes in a convection oven or until product reaches 165°F.
2. In a large bowl, toss nuggets with Buffalo sauce.
3. To assemble each sandwich, place five nuggets inside a hoagie roll and drizzle with Bleu cheese dressing.
4. Serve immediately.
ALOHA BBQ CHICKEN SANDWICH
A sweet and savory taste of the islands, with Gold Kist Chicken Whole Grain Breaded Chicken Patty (665400), barbecue sauce, pineapple and green leaf lettuce on a whole wheat sandwich roll.
Ingredients and Preparation
100 Servings (1 patty each) Gold Kist® Fully Cooked Whole Grain Home-Style Breaded Chicken Patties (665400)
100 Leaves Green lettuce (like Romaine or butter lettuce)
100 Rolls Whole Wheat Hoagie Rolls
200 Halves Pineapple rings, halved
6 1/4 Quarts Low-sodium BBQ sauce
1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Arrange chicken patties in a single layer on an ungreased sheet pan. Bake for 15-20 minutes in a conventional oven or8-10 minutes in a convection oven or until product reaches 165°F.
2. To assemble each sandwich, place lettuce on the bottom half of the roll, then chicken patty and pineapple sauce. Drizzle with BBQ sauce and top with the other half of the roll.
