The Rokewood Recreation Reserve Netball and Tennis Court Upgrade is well underway and is set to be complete by the beginning of May 2023.

The Rokewood Recreation Reserve Netball and Tennis Court Upgrade project includes the reconstruction of two new courts that will provide line markings for both netball and tennis, along with the introduction of sports lighting for competition use.
The upgrade will also see the installation of new fencing, undercover benches for players, coaches, timekeepers and spectators. An additional storage structure will also be introduced to increase storage
of sporting equipment by user groups. The works commenced in late January and are on track to be completed and open to the public in May.
The $751,000 project received $433,666 from the Victorian Government's Local Sports Infrastructure Fund’s Female Friendly Facilities category. In addition, Council will contribute $317,334 to complete the funding for this partnership project.

Following extensive consultation with the community, Council has developed a concept design of the proposed bike park at the Bannockburn Skate Park, with community members invited to provide commentary on the proposed design.

Residents were invited to have their say on what they would like to see as part of the design at a community design workshop and community survey which were open to the public in November 2022.
Features included in the concept design that were identified as important to users of the bike park and the broader community include separate tracks for riders with different skill levels, shaded rest areas, seating, car parking, connecting paths, a bike repair station and drinking fountain.
The concept design of the proposed Bannockburn
Bike Park is on public exhibition from Wednesday 22 March until 5pm, Wednesday 12 April, with residents invited to provide commentary on the proposed design.
The concept design is available to view on Council's website: goldenplains.vic.gov.au and will also be available at Council's Customer Hubs at 2 Pope Street Bannockburn and 19 Heales Street, Smythesdale.

If you have a child who’s turning three in 2023, now is the time to start thinking about enrolling them in a three-year-old kindergarten program in 2024. Research shows that play-based learning is a powerful way to support children’s development and these benefits last into the school years and beyond. A quality kindergarten program will have more of an impact for children who start at age three rather than four, and the benefits are even greater for children who may be in vulnerable circumstances.
The Victorian Government has made kindergarten programs free for three and fouryear-old children up to $2,500 per year, per child. Free kinder is a critical component of the State Government’s Best Start, Best Life reform. To learn more, visit: goldenplains.vic.gov.au/ resident/child-and-family/kindergartens
