2025 Golden Spaces Summer Exhibition Now on Display
The 2025 Golden Spaces Summer Exhibition opened at the Bannockburn Cultural Centre last night with artwork from more than 20 local artists on display.
The 2025 exhibition marks the fifth exhibition in the Golden Spaces series, with two exhibitions per year in summer and winter. Each winter and summer exhibition travels for a year around the Shire – starting at the Bannockburn Cultural Centre before heading to The Well in Smythesdale and finishing at the Golden Plains Civic Centre.
This exciting initiative celebrates and promotes the talent of artists from across the Shire and surrounding regions, increases access to the arts for the community within a local setting, and provides professional development opportunities for both emerging and established artists.
The next expression of interest for the 2026 Golden Spaces Winter Exhibition is open now until 27 February 2026. For more information, visit goldenplains.vic.gov.au/consultations

Moorabool River Playspace Concept Design
The Moorabool River Reserve Masterplan 2023-2033 was developed following community consultation and adopted by Golden Plains Shire Council in 2023 to guide the future development and management of the Moorabool River Reserve as a public open space and conservation reserve.
Two key priorities within the masterplan included: The establishment of a small picnic/resting/story place with shelters, seating, and a nature-based play space incorporating Wadawurrung design and story elements; and the establishment of anabranch
pedestrian crossings featuring Wadawurrung designs.
A concept plan has been developed for the playspace and anabranch crossings, and this concept plan has been endorsed by Wadawurrung Traditional Owners.
The playspace is proposed to be named ‘Perridak Ngubiyt’ to recognise the platypus and natural waterways.
You can view the concept plan at goldenplains.vic.gov.au/consultations and provide feedback by emailing enquiries@gplains.vic.gov.au Feedback is invited until Thursday 18 December 2025.

Have Your Say: Golden Plains Shire Council Budget 2026/27
Golden Plains Shire Council is inviting residents and members of the community to help shape the 2026/27 Budget.
Each year, the Budget funds over 70 essential services that support daily life in the community such as road maintenance, bin collections, looking after parks and gardens, planning and environmental health services, supporting local culture and events, protecting our environment, and promoting healthy lifestyles by providing sporting facilities.
This year, Council has again brought forward the community engagement process to enable the consideration of community feedback to inform the development of the 2026/27 Budget. You can lodge a budget submission and complete the online survey at goldenplains.vic.gov.au/consultations
A Council meeting will be held in February 2026 to consider Budget Submissions before the final 2026/27 Budget is considered for adoption at the May 2026 Council meeting.
