Online Community Directory Continues to Grow
Council's popular Online Community Directory features more than 70 local community groups, clubs, services, associations and facilities.
The Online Community Directory provides easy-to-find information and features a range of categories and listings for people to search. Eligible groups can also add their own free listing by creating an account at Golden Plains Shire Council’s website. Once approved, groups can independently manage their own listings and update them as needed.
A user guide with instructions on how to create a
community listing is available at goldenplains.vic.gov.au/community-directory
Community organisations, groups, clubs, services, associations, and facilities based in the Golden Plains Shire and surrounding municipalities which may be engaging local residents are welcome to submit a listing.
The Community Online Directory welcomes listings from non-commercial entities, with exceptions made for businesses offering cultural or community services including arts businesses, childcare facilities, ecobusinesses, education, health, and aged care services.

Draft Woady Yaloak Recreation Reserve Master Plan
There’s still time for residents in Smythesdale and surrounding communities to have their say on the Draft Woady Yaloak Recreation Reserve Master Plan (the Draft Master Plan).
The Draft Master Plan was developed following community consultation undertaken in February and March this year and is now on public exhibition with residents invited to view the Draft Master Plan and provide feedback.
The Draft Master Plan was developed in close consultation with local user groups and tenant clubs, aligning with Council’s vision for sport and active
recreation. The strategic document ensures the longterm development goals of tenant clubs; community groups and residents are carefully considered.
Feedback on the Draft Master Plan is invited until 5pm, Friday 27 June 2025, and can be completed online at goldenplains.vic.gov.au/consultations. The survey will also be available at Council’s Customer Hubs, 2 Pope Street, Bannockburn, and 19 Heales Street, Smythesdale.
For further information, contact Council’s Community Projects Capital Planner at enquiries@gplains.vic.gov.au or call 5220 7111.
