Father’s House community Thanksgiving dinner is back On Thanksgiving Day (November 25) a free turkey dinner with all the trimmings will be served at the Father’s House Fellowship Church building, located at 207 South Klickitat Street in Goldendale. The meal will be in the basement fellowship hall. The easiest way to enter this part of the building is through the south door that faces Allyn Street. Three meal options will be available. Dinners will be delivered to locations within a 10-mile radius of Goldendale and must be

ordered ahead of time. Dinner orders may be placed by calling one of the following numbers between the hours of 9 a.m. and 8 p.m.: (360) 977-8286, (541) 9651743, or (509) 250-0446. Meal orders may also be called in to the Father’s House office at 773-4719 between 8 a.m. and noon on weekdays. In person serving will begin at noon in the fellowship hall. Take out containers will be furnished for those who wish to take a meal and eat elsewhere. There will

also be an area for sit-down dining with real dishes. People who would like to assemble and deliver takeout meals to others may do so. We will also provide rides within the city limits for people without transportation who want to come and get their own meal or eat at the church. Anyone who would like to help with the preparation, serving, delivery, or clean-up associated with this holiday meal are welcome. Please call or text Jim Ogden at 250-6147 for further information.

Murray to government: Leave our clocks alone U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), joined by Senators Ron Wyden (D-OR) and Alex Padilla (D-CA), wrote to Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg last week calling on him to give full consideration to any petitions from states that have voted to move to permanent Daylight Saving Time (DST) to switch time zones and effectively establish permanent DST until a federal legislative solution can be reached. The letter is the latest part of Murray’s continued push to allow Washington and other states to move to permanent DST.

“With the nation reverting to standard time Sunday, November 7, we write concerning our states’ and our constituents’ desires to adopt Daylight Saving Time (DST) on a permanent basis. As senators representing states that comprise the Pacific Time Zone, we are hopeful that a regulatory pathway might provide the most expeditious way for Western states to enact current or future state laws on this issue,” the senators wrote. “We fully recognize that ultimately a longer legislative path will be necessary to ensure all states that have passed perma-

RACING THRILLS: The Oregon Trail Rally came to Goldendale Saturday for Day 2 of its annual car race. In the morning the cars filled Main Street in Goldendale with crowds crushing to see the stars (real and wannabe) of the trail rally racing circuit. “There are people from Argentina and Oman this year,” one of the organizers said. “There are people here with their own trailer and a private cook, and people sleeping in their own cars.” Top, the highest rated racer, Travis Pastrana, poses with a young fan. nent DST language can enact similar laws. However, considering there is a process to more immediately enact the will of state voters on permanent DST, we anticipate some states will opt to petitions for time zone changes in the near future to obtain expeditious relief,” the senators continued. “To that end, we write to respectfully request that the Department move swiftly to give full and fair consideration to these petitions if and when they are submitted to ensure states are able to move to permanent DST as soon as possible.”

SNOW ON THE SIMCOES: The Snow Fairy was over Goldendale in the last few days and dropped off a healthy coat of fresh snow. That’s Nature’s way of saying winter is near.

DROP IT IN FOR THE CHRISTMAS STORE: Father’s House is once again holding the Christmas Store this year, on December 11. New or lightly used presents can be dropped off in the box in The Sentinel lobby until that date. The Store provides a way for children and those in need to purchase Christmas gifts for their families.
