A PARADE FOR THE HISTORY BOOKS: Saturday’s Community Days was a huge hit—the Chamber of Commerce estimates some 2,000 people hit Main Street to see shiny cars and vendor booths. And then there was the parade, one of the longest and, by most accounts, one of the best Goldendale has seen. Trucks and horses galore, a visit by Jr. Miss Rock Creek, this year’s Klickitat County Fair Queen, and floats from past Goldendale High School classes, all blended into a memorable live collage.

Teen admits starting Lyle fire Level 3 evacuation ordered for Lyle A Level 3 evacuation—meaning danger is imminent and people should leave immediately— was ordered yesterday afternoon for the Lyle Hill fire in Lyle. An 18-year-old has admitted lighting the firework that began the conflagration and has been criminally cited. Witnesses provided information on who was involved in starting the fire. The information led to the identification

On July 11, Anderson served Tally with a criminal citation charging him with “Reckless Burning in the Second Degree.” State Route 14 and State Route 142 were closed to the public due to fire units being on both sides.

In order to mimic the texture of the ancient monument’s hand-hewn surface in concrete, the wood forms for each of the memorial’s

Stonehenge named to National Register The Stonehenge Memorial is now officially part of America’s national history. In a letter dated July 6, 2021, Washington State History Preservation Officer Dr. Allyson Brooks stated that “Stonehenge Memorial at Stonehenge Drive outside of Goldendale has been listed in the National Register of Historic Places, where it joins other properties which contribute to the rich cultural heritage of Washington State.” The letter then provides a brief history and description of Stonehenge for the benefit of those unfamiliar with the unique history of the monument. “Conceived and financed by businessman
