Growing your legacy ...from one generation to the next Farming is our day-to-day business, but it’s also so much more. It’s a unique collection of traditions, values, and practices that have been shared and enriched over time. The heritage of the farming way of life honors the past while looking ahead to the future. Every day, we’re growing a legacy that will endure long after we’re gone. For me, the legacy of farming is the picture of my grandfather’s cotton gin hanging in my office. It’s the Hart-Parr tractor he bought new in 1930 that we still own today. It’s knowing how excited he would be to see the advancement of all technology in agriculture. It’s something precious and profound and it’s worth preserving and passing on. Golden Acres exists to grow that legacy by preserving the values, traditions, and independence of the family farmer. So instead of just focusing on products that best perform where you live and farm, we offer you choices in those products from a family owned seed business that has been three generations in the making. We’ll get face to face with you to find out what your needs are and how we can meet them. We’re committed to growing your legacy, to providing the technology, tools, and service you need to continue to succeed and thrive. Your legacy may stretch three generations into the past like mine, or it may have begun with a recent business partner and a plan for the future. Either way, it’s the driving force behind the decisions we make and how hard we work to see our plans come to fulfillment. It would be a true honor to me if Golden Acres was allowed to partner with you to keep our legacies growing strong.

Lou Buice, President

“See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.” –Hebrews 12:15

A legacy defined by the Power of Choice... You deserve freedom and the power of choice when it comes to your fields. Some of the bigger seed companies will try to redefine your understanding of choice. They claim to offer choice but what they really mean is choosing between two or three traits from their own narrow platform. Our lineup has always been defined by a choice of technology platforms. As an independent seed company, Golden Acres puts the power of choice right where it belongs...in your hands. We’re not tied down to a single trait platform. Instead, we select and test trait technology from the likes of Bayer CropScience, Dow AgroSciences, DuPont, Monsanto and Syngenta, and match the best trait options to the highest yielding genetics for the South and High Plains. You can choose from a wide variety of insect and herbicide protection traits, maturity ranges, and genetic backgrounds with proven performance to maximize your profit and minimize your risk. Your local Golden Acres Seed Specialist is trained and ready to assist you in selecting the best seed solutions for your farm. Genuity® VT Triple PRO®- Controls corn borer, earworm, rootworm, and fall armyworm, plus Roundup® tolerance; with dual modes of action for reduced refuge in cotton-growing areas. Agrisure Viptera® 3111- Provides unsurpassed multi-pest control of 14 above-and below-ground pests, glyphosate and glufosinate herbicide tolerance, and reduced refuge requirements in cotton-growing areas. Genuity® VT Double PRO® RIB Complete®- Dual modes of action for comprehensive above-ground protection and the convenience of 5% refuge in the bag for a single-bag refuge solution. Genuity® DroughtGard™ Hybrids with VT Double PRO® RIB Complete®- New drought trait technology enables the plant to use water more efficiently to help manage risk and provide greater yields even with less water. Agrisure® 3000GT - Offers glyphosate and glufosinate tolerance for herbicide flexibility as well as protection from corn borer and corn rootworm. Agrisure® GT - Provides excellent tolerance to applications of glyphosatebased herbicides and freedom to choose your preferred glyphosate brand. 1st Number = Relative Maturity (use 11 as prefix) 1 = 111 Day; 2 = 112 Day; 3 = 113 Day; 4 = 114 Day, etc... 2nd & 3rd Numbers = Genetic Family Hybrids from the same genetic family will share the same 2-digit code Example: 67 = New Genetics 4th Number = Trait Package 1 = GEN VT3 PRO; 2 = GEN SS; 3 = VIP 3111; 5 = RR/GT; 7 = 3000GT; 8 = GEN VT2 PRO; Suffix = A suffix at the end of a hybrid number indicates the addition of the Genuity DroughtGard trait (DG) or Agrisure Artesian trait (A).

Our Numbering System.... Technology races forward and it can be challenging to keep track. As new genetic and trait platforms are released, our numbering system has grown and evolved to incorporate them. Our current system applies to all Golden Acres corn hybrids released since 2012, and is designed to give you an at-aglance understanding of what our hybrid names mean (example at left). There are a few hybrids in the lineup that were named by our previous system. They keep out-yielding the competition so we keep bringing them back and we’re not about to change those numbers. Our Corn Characteristics Chart on pages 17-20 groups hybrids together by genetic family, so you can keep track of your favorite hybrids as they advance to newer traits.

Traits to maximize limited moisture.... Drought and heat stress tolerance are two of the most critical qualities necessary for growing corn and sorghum in our geography. Because we’re focused on providing the products that work best on your farm, most of our hybrids have a lot of heat or drought stress tolerance naturally. But there are also some exciting new corn traits that can additionally maximize yields with less water. Whether you call it “drought tolerance” or “water optimization” or even “hydroefficiency,” the bottom line is that these products show clear yield benefits. New Golden Acres G4655A is an Agrisure Artesian GTA hybrid that provides a new level of season-long drought protection, allowing you to grow more corn in moisture-stressed environments. Hybrids with Agrisure Artesian technology maximize yield when it rains, and increase yield when it doesn’t, improving the return on a grower’s total crop investment. Agrisure Artesian technology helps to reduce crop stress during gaps in rainfall. Corn hybrids with the Agrisure Artesian GTA trait stack are carefully selected to provide outstanding glyphosate tolerance while preserving the genetic potential of the hybrid. New Golden Acres G4678 DG is a Genuity DroughtGard hybrid that allows the corn plant to use water more efficiently to help manage risk and increase yields by helping the plant use less water when drought stress occurs. This allows conservations of soil moisture and provides the opportunity for minimizing yield loss from drought. These products are chosen for top-end yield potential in well watered conditions while improving yield stability in drought. G4678 DG also carries the Genuity VT Double PRO RIB Complete trait for above-ground insect protection and refuge simplicity.

Local testing is the key to good data... Golden Acres corn and grain sorghum hybrids are known for outperforming seed products from some of the “bigger” seed companies (especially under tough growing conditions). That’s because we focus all of our time and attention on market areas the national seed brands consider to be “niches”. Our products excel in our geography because we test them all across our market area. Local testing helps us find the hybrids that perform well in the fertile Brazos Valley as well as hybrids that KANSAS are able to flourish on the arid Kansas Plains. We put our hybrids through a rigorous testing process based solely on data collected in our market area. We don’t limit our performance tests to areas with high fertility soils and plenty of moisture. We make sure our hybrids can yield profitably, even under the toughest growing conditions. And we share the results with transparency, instead of filtering for only the best-looking results. In 2013 we put 30-40 hybrids per plot in 36 GATE Plots across 6 states to make sure you’ve got plenty of local data to consider when making your planting decision.

Golden Giving Supports Farming Communities Family farmers have a legacy of doing miraculous work. Today, farmers grow twice as much food as the last generation - using less land, energy, water and fewer emissions. America’s corn farmers produce about 40 percent of the world’s corn, using only 20 percent of the total area harvested in the world. Every day, America’s farm families rise to meet the challenge of feeding and clothing the world. For these men and women, their land is more than a livelihood - it’s a legacy. It’s a resource to be cared for, preserved, improved, and passed to the next generation. We have a deep appreciation for farmers and the farming community. Through Golden Giving we’re able to give back to farming families in a way that supports them locally. We partner with our resellers and growers to donate funds to local churches in the communities where our customers live, work, and make their living. Last year seventy churches received Golden Giving contributions. We feel blessed to partner with these farming families as they support their local ministries. Bag Updates and Trait Tag Reminders... When your seed arrives in the iconic black and gold Golden Acres bag, take time to read the tag. Much more than just warning information and legalese, the Golden Acres bag tag attached to your seed package is the key to identifying what trait and hybrid is contained inside. Our tags are color coded by trait, with the trait name and logo printed boldly at the bottom so you have an easy view of what you’re planting. And speaking of an easy view, we’ve expanded the number of trait options that come packaged in our ClearView window bags (pictured, next page) to include all Genuity VT Triple PRO, Agrisure Viptera 3111, and Agrisure Artesian GTA hybrids. RIB Complete hybrids like SmartStax RIB Complete and Double PRO RIB Complete will be in a belly-banded ClearView bag so you have no doubt the refuge is in the bag.

Golden Box makes planting easy Many farmers prefer to streamline the task of dealing with a large number of seed bags by choosing a Golden Box full of corn or sorghum seed. These bulk boxes hold the equivalent of 50 bags of seed, and are easily moved by forklift or front-end loader right to your seed tender.

The Choice...

Genuity corn traits - because every kernel counts

Just three damaged kernels per ear can total up to a bushel per acre of yield loss in your field. Since we launched our first Genuity hybrids in 2010, Golden Acres growers have seen far fewer damaged kernels, and are experiencing increased yield and profit as a result. The Genuity family of traits includes Genuity SmartStax, Genuity VT Double PRO, and Genuity VT Triple PRO. All three traits feature control of kernel feeding insects (like corn earworm and fall armyworm), reduced refuge requirements (down to 20% in cotton-growing areas) and Refuge In Bag technology (RIB- the industry’s first single-bag refuge solution for corn-growing areas). Profitability comes from pairing the toughest, performance-tested genetics with the right traits to protect your seed investment. Because every field is different and not all corn pests are created equal. To get more yield per acre, you need to choose your corn traits accordingly. That’s why we offer the Genuity family of traits for whatever level of protection you need. Such comprehensive insect protection brings you greater peace of mind, so you’re free to focus on time with family, favorite hobbies, or new ways to build your business. Golden Acres offers all the trait options you desire with superior insect protection and genetics developed specifically for the South and the High Plains. Consult your local Seed Specialist or check out our website (www.GoldenAcres.com) to learn how our Genuity hybrids can increase your onfarm earnings and add to your peace of mind.

The Agrisure Viptera® 3111 trait stack offers the most complete insect protection you can buy. A combination of the Agrisure Viptera trait and the Agrisure® 3000GT triple stack, the Agrisure Viptera 3111 trait stack provides unsurpassed multi-pest control of the corn pests that can rob you of yield and profitability. It also offers the same herbicide flexibility as the Agrisure 3000GT triple stack to provide growers with their choice of glyphosate or glufosinate applications. Watch with satisfaction as corn borers, corn rootworms, corn earworms, fall armyworms, western bean cutworms, and black cutworms fall victim to the power of Agrisure Viptera 3111. Tolerance to both glyphosate and glufosinate herbicides gives you increased flexibility for managing resistant weeds. And farmers in designated cotton-growing areas can reduce their refuge requirement from 50% down to 20% when planting this trait. Award-winning yield, feed value with Optimal Silage Few corn seed companies are breeding specifically for the silage market these days. But Golden Acres has a long history as a consistent leader in silage trials, and that’s not a position we’re willing to give up. We even developed a special Optimal Silage icon to easily identify the Golden Acres hybrids that possess the unique characteristics necessary to produce a top corn silage crop. The G8551 genetic family is well-known for topping the plot in silage performance tests year after year, and is available in three different trait options. The Optimal Silage icon next to our top-pick silage options ensure you’ll get maximum yield and feed value from your silage crop.

Refuge reduced, simplified with Genuity and Agrisure Viptera traits Part of our legacy is to offer simple solutions that keep your mind at ease and your schedule open. The reduced refuge requirements and RIB options of many of our high-performing hybrids make stewardship and refuge compliance easier than ever before. Genuity Double PRO RIB Complete and Genuity Triple PRO RIB Complete offer the convenience of a single-bag refuge solution. Farmers planting RIB Complete traits in designated corn-growing areas can forgo planting a separate refuge. It’s already in the bag. In designated cotton-growing areas the refuge requirement is cut from 50 percent down to 20 percent for fields planted with Genuity VT Triple PRO or Agrisure Viptera 3111 hybrids. Dual modes of insect control against targeted above-ground pests serve to reduce the likelihood of insect resistance. This provides enhanced trait durability and allows for reduced refuge acres in cottongrowing areas. For complete IRM requirements, be sure to ask your Golden Acres Seed Specialist, or consult the official Insect Resistance Management (IRM) Guide available at www.GoldenAcres.com. “It shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave, even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. Matthew 20:26-28

Important: Ratings are based on the average performance of a hybrid grown over a wide range of climate and soil types within its adapted maturity under normal growing conditions. Extreme conditions may adversely affect performance. Consult your local Golden Acres Genetics Seed Specialist for specific product recommendations. Relative Maturity Days: Compare normal maturity days differences between hybrids. Actual days may vary considerably from those shown due to growing degree unit accumulations. Growing Degree Unit (GDU) accumulation may vary within the geographic region as a result of temperature and environmental variations. Recommended Final Population: Optimum corn populations vary with soil type, climate and management practices. Use our recommended population as a relative guide to planting, based on your farming experience and management level. Remember to increase planting rates approximately 10% above your desired final population.

Seed products with the LibertyLink® (LL) trait are resistant to the herbicide glufosinate ammonium, an alternative to glyphosate in corn, and combine high-yielding genetics with the powerful, non-selective, postemergent weed control of Liberty® herbicide for optimum yield and excellent weed control. Individual results may vary, and performance may vary from location to location and from year to year. This result may not be an indicator of results you may obtain as local growing, soil and weather conditions may vary. Growers should evaluate data from multiple locations and years whenever possible.

A legacy preserved for more than sixty years... Golden Acres has been the name to trust in grain sorghum since 1952. We’ve grown our legacy over sixty-two years by developing a sorghum line-up with consistent and stable performance over time. Our customers trust us, because they continue to get top performance from our line of sorghum hybrids. Our sorghum lineup’s longevity is based on balancing the old with the new. Over the years we’ve continued to source new, high performing varieties to add to our lineup. And while there are always new genetics to get excited about, we don’t believe in retiring a hybrid that consistently gets the job done just because it’s been around for a while. The heart of our lineup still includes sorghum genetic backgrounds from trusted legacy brands like Funk’s, Growers, ORO, Garst and Golden Harvest as well as Golden Acres. The preservation and continued expansion of our sorghum portfolio means we can offer you the broadest range of high performing hybrids. It’s also allowed us to expand our market footprint to reach from Arizona across the South to the coast of North Carolina and most recently into the High Plains areas of Kansas, Nebraska and Colorado. Our sorghum lineup represents a time-tested legacy of performance products for your farm.

“My brother and I are the fourth generation on this land. We’ve learned to hang in there, even when conditions are tough. Success doesn’t happen overnight. It’s back and forth and sometimes you have to start over a little bit. But it’s in our blood and we stick it out. Eventually you’ll come up with a couple of aces.” -Charles Ring - Sinton, Texas
