Purchase the one that best meets your travel needs and enjoy your trip today! Passes are sold at our Customer Service Center and authorized ticket outlets. To know when you should arrive at a stop that is between the listed timepoints, use the time from the timepoint before your stop.

DISCOUNT FARE PROGRAMS IDENTIFICATION FOR DISCOUNTED FARES To prove eligibility for a discounted fare, appropriate identification must be shown to the bus operator upon boarding the bus: •• Youth: proof of age (18 and under), valid school ID, GCT Youth ID card.

•• Senior Citizen: proof of age (65+), or GCT Reduced Fare ID card •• Seniors over age 75: proof of age (75+) or GCT 75+ ID card •• Disabled: Medicare card, GCT Reduced Fare ID card or ADA card •• Medicare Recipient: Medicare card •• Veterans Identification Card All ID cards used must be valid. Any official document that shows the rider’s birthdate is considered proof of age. Examples of accepted documents include a DMV ID, a birth certificate, or an insurance card that shows a birthdate. A photo ID is recommended.

75+ PROGRAM Seniors aged 75 or older can ride for FREE, all day, every day, with proof of age shown upon boarding.

Seniors may receive a free ID card to use to prove their eligilibity for the program. To receive your free 75+ ID card, please visit our Customer Service Center at the Oxnard Transit Center. You will need to present proof of age and photo ID to receive your card. Please call 805-487-4222 for more information.

GCT REDUCED FARE ID CARD Seniors 65 years of age and older can get a Gold Coast Transit Reduced Fare ID card by presenting photo identification with proof of age to staff at the Customer Service Center. No application is necessary.

People with disabilities may be issued a Reduced Fare ID card by Gold Coast Transit to prove their eligibilty for a discounted fare on board its fixed route service.

Applications are available at GCT’s Customer Service Center, on page 79 in this Bus Book and on our website, www.goldcoasttransit.org.

The application form must be completed by a physician or licensed medical professional, licensed optometrist (for visual impairments), counselor or social worker (representing a recognized organization for persons with disabilities). Another way to receive a GCT Reduced Fare ID card is for patrons who receive Social Security Insurance (SSI) to present their current SSI reward letter as proof of disability.

Turn in the completed application form in person to GCT’s Customer Service Center at the Oxnard Transit Center to receive your GCT Reduced Fare ID card.

Bus stops are identified with a Gold Coast Transit (GCT) sign which lists the routes serving that stop. For the safety of our passengers, GCT buses only stop at designated bus stops.

Arrive at your bus stop at least 5-10 minutes early and stand near the sign, bench or bus shelter so that the driver can see you. The driver may not stop if you are not clearly visible.

The route number and destination of each bus is displayed on a headsign above the bus’s front windshield. Before boarding the bus, make sure it is the bus you wish to take. If you are unsure, ask the bus driver to assist you.

Please have your cash fare, pass or transfer ready before the bus arrives. Please see page 2 for current fares.

Passengers paying a reduced fare are required to present acceptable proof of eligibility upon boarding.

Please see page 66 for identification requirements.

If your trip requires the use of more than one bus to reach your destination, ask the driver for a free, twohour transfer ticket when you pay your fare. (See “How To Transfer” for more details). Day Passes are sold on board and offer great value if traveling on more than one bus. Remember, Day Passes issued on board are activated and are valid until 11:59pm that same day.

After paying your fare, please move promptly to a vacant seat. Seniors and people with disabilities have priority for the seats directly behind the driver. If seats are not available, move towards the rear of the bus and hold on to the grab rails.

About one block before your stop, pull the stop request cord or push the touch strip on the window frame to signal the driver that you want to get off at the next stop. Please be sure the driver has enough time to stop safely. If you are unsure where to get off the bus, tell the driver where you want to get off and ask him/her to announce the stop for you.

Please exit from the rear door. Gently push the touch bar on the doors to open them and hold the door handle as you exit the bus. Some buses have a yellow touch strip located on the back door – on these buses, touch the yellow strip to activate the doors and hold them open until you are completely off. After you exit, stand to the side of the road or on the sidewalk until the bus has pulled away.

For your safety, do not cross the street in front of the bus and obey all traffic signs and signals.

HOW TO TRANSFER If you need to use more than one bus to reach your destination, ask the driver for a transfer when you pay your fare on the first bus. Transfers will only be issued at the time of payment.

Transfers are free and can be used as your fare on any Gold Coast Transit bus, in any direction. The transfers are valid for two hours. The expiration information will be printed on the back of the transfer (see below).

Passengers using a Day Pass or 31-Day Pass will not be issued a transfer, but may board any bus in the system at any time during the validity period of the pass.

If you are concerned about catching your connecting bus, notify your driver that you will be transferring and ask him or her to call ahead to inform the next driver.

Please note that it may not always be possible to have the connecting bus wait.

You are responsible for properly loading and unloading your bicycle. All bags, child carriers, water bottles or any other objects must be removed prior to loading. Always load from the curb side of the bus.

•• Alert the operator that you intend to load your bicycle, then lower the rack by pulling the handle. (See 1 above) •• Lift your bike on to the rack. (See 2 above) •• Lift the support arm up and over the front tire.

(See 31 above) •• When leaving the bus, please advise the operator that you will be removing your bike and leave by the front door.

•• When your bike is unloaded, raise the rack to the upright position.

Please also note that: •• GCTD is not responsible for loss or damage to bicycles.

•• Each rack holds three bicycles with wheels 16 inches or larger in diameter. Bikes are accommodated on a first come, first served basis. If the bicycle rack is full, you may be asked by the operator to wait for the next bus.

•• Bicycles longer than 80 inches (6.5 feet) and higher than 54 inches (4.5 feet) will not be allowed on the rack.

•• Total weight must not exceed 250 pounds.

•• Motorized bicycles are not permitted.

•• No person or group of persons will be discriminated against with regard to fares, routing, scheduling, or quality of transportation service that GCTD furnishes, on the basis of race, color, or national origin.

HOW TO FILE A COMPLAINT Any person who believes that he or she has, individually, or as a member of any specific class of persons, been subjected to discrimination on the basis of race, color, or national origin may file a Title VI complaint with GCTD. RULES & TRIP TIPS • Be courteous to other passengers. Please refrain from loud or unruly behavior.

• Seniors and people with disabilities have priority seating directly behind the driver.

• If you need to use either the ramp or the kneel function, please ask the driver. These features are provided upon request.

• Make sure you and your belongings are not blocking the free movement of another person while on the bus.

• Skateboards, rollerblades and skates must be carried with you on the bus. You will not be allowed to board the bus if you are wearing rollerblades or skates.

• Shopping carts or strollers must be folded and stowed safely away from the aisles.

• Guide dogs and other service animals trained to assist passengers with disabilities are welcome. Small pets are allowed on the bus only if they are in a secured cage.

• Please do not talk to the driver while the bus is moving.

• Do not smoke, eat, drink or spit while on the bus.

• No open containers are allowed on the bus. Drinks brought on board must be in screw top bottles. Soft cardboard coffee cups or soda cups are not allowed.

• Earphones must be worn when playing radios, iPods/ MP3 players or other sound equipment while on the bus.

• It is against the law to carry any explosives, acid, flammable liquid, and/or toxic or hazardous materials.

• It is against the law to fail to pay the correct fare or to misuse transfers, passes or tickets. GCTD may prosecute offenders under California Penal Code 640, which provides for a fine of up to $250.

• Please throw away your trash.

• Shirts and shoes must be worn on the bus.

• Hoverboards, defined as motorized self balancing scooter boards, are banned from all CGTD vehicles.

Passengers are not allowed to use, carry or charge hoverboards.

SERVICES FOR SENIOR CITIZENS AND PASSENGERS WITH DISABILITIES BUS SERVICE GCT buses are equipped to accommodate mobility devices that comply with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines. GCT buses are low-floor models with fold-out ramps for mobility device access. If you need to use the ramp to board the bus, the driver will assist you.

Securement policy •• All buses accommodate scooters, wheelchairs, and other mobility devices that can navigate the entryway to the bus.

•• GCT requires that mobility devices are secured to the floor of the bus. Riders who do not comply may be denied transportation, according to federal ADA regulations.This does not apply to devices that cannot be secured.

•• GCT bus operators must secure the mobility device or ensure it has been properly secured.

•• GCT recommends that mobility device users utilize lap and/or shoulder belts and riders using three-wheeled scooters transfer to a seat.

CÓMO VIAJAR EN EL AUTOBÚS Las paradas se identifican con un letrero de Gold Coast Transit. Se indicaran las rutas que sirven esa parada. Para la seguridad de nuestros pasajeros, los autobúses de GCT sólo se detienen en las paradas designadas.

Llegue por lo menos 5 - 10 minutos temprano a su parada. Esté parado junto a la señal, banca o resguardo del autobús para que el chófer pueda verlo.

El chófer no se dara cuenta si lo tiene que recoger si no es claramente visible.

El número de ruta de autobús y el destino se muestran en un letrero electrónico arriba del parabrisas. Antes de abordar el autobús, asegúrese de que sea el autobús que desea tomar. Si esta inseguro, pídale ayuda al chófer del autobús.

Por favor salga por la puerta de atras. Esto hara que el servicio sea mas rápido. Empuje la barra suavemente y las puertas se abrirán. Sostenga la puerta cuando salga del autobús. Algunos autobúses tienen una tira amarilla localizada en la puerta trasera. En estos autobúses, toque la cinta amarilla y las puertas abrirán.

Recuerde, puede adquirir un Pase de Día a bordo de cada autobús, lo cual ofrece mucho beneficio si su viaje requiere más de un autobús.

Al abordar el autobús y pagar su tarifa, tome asiento.

Observe que las personas mayores y personas con discapacidad tengan la prioridad por los asientos directamente detrás del chófer. Si no hay ningún asiento disponible, proceda al fondo del autobús y aférrese a las barandillas.

• No deje basura en el autobús.

• Carritos o coches de niño deben ser colocados debajo del asiento y fuera de los pasillos.

• Perros de guia y otros animales de servicio que ayudan a personas con discapacidades son bienvenidos.

• Animales domésticos pequeños sólo se permiten en el autobús si están en una jaula asegurada.

• No hable con el chófer mientras este conduciendo el autobús.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

FORMS/FORMULARIOS

Applicant’s disability must meet one of the following criteria to qualify for the Reduced Fare Identification Card entitling the applicant to a reduced fare on GCT fixed-route buses.

1.

Visual impairment such that, after best correction, vision in the better eye is 20/200, or less; or the visual field is contracted to 10 degrees or less from a point of fixation or subtends to an angle no greater than 20 degrees.

2.

Hearing impairment such that there is a 50% bilateral hearing loss uncorrected by use of a hearing aid.

3. Musculoskeletal impairment such as muscular dystrophy, osteogenesis imperfecta, or severe rheumatism or arthritis of Therapeutic Grade III or worse, Functional Class III or worse, or Anatomical Grade III or worse.

4.

Cardiovascular impairment resulting in marked limitation of physical activity. Less than ordinary physical activity causes fatigue, palpitation, dyspnea or anginal pain. Ordinary physical activity should be markedly restricted.

5.

Respiratory impairment in which shortness of breath does not appear during times of rest but does occur during ordinary daily activities such as stair climbing or walking more than 200 feet. At the time of upper respiratory illness, it may become severe enough to require hospitalization.

6. Amputation, anatomical deformity (due to vascular or neurological deficits), traumatic loss of muscle mass or tendons, or x-ray evidence of bony or fibrous ankylosis joint subluxation, or instability of: (a) both hands, (b) one hand and one foot, or (c) amputation of one lower extremity at or above the tarsal region.

7.

Paralysis, incoordination, or functional motor deficit in any two limbs due to brain, spinal, or peripheral nerve injury, including paraplegia, quadriplegia, and hemiplegia.

8. A developmental disability that is manifested before the person reaches 22 years of age, which constitutes a substantial disability to the affected individual, and is attributable to mental retardation or related conditions which include cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism or other neurological conditions.

9.

Emotional disorder due to the presence of mental illness, to the extent that applicant has significant impairment and/or symptoms which hinder their daily living, including schizophrenia, clinical depression, bi-polar and anxiety disorders.

Personas con discapacidad pueden recibir descuento en la tarifa de Gold Coast Transit (GCT) en el sistema de autobúses de rutas fijas. La tarjeta de identificación de GCT para precio reducido, una tarjeta de Medicare o tarjeta de identificación de Paratránsito de ADA debe ser mostrada al conductor al abordar para calificar para precio reducido. CRITERIOS DE ELEGIBILIDAD

El solicitante debe tener una de estas condiciones para calificar para una tarjeta de identificación para percio reducido, que le permite una tarifa reducida en las rutas fijas de GCT. 1.

Impedimento visual que la visión del mejor ojo es 20/200 o menos después de la mejor corrección; o el campo de visión es limitado a 10 grado o menos de un punto fijo o subtiende un ángulo que no es más de 20 grado.

Impedimento auditidivo pérdida bilateral de un 50% del oído que no ha sido corregida por un aparato audífono.

3. Impedimento muscular o esqueletal como distrofía muscular, osteogenesis imperfecta, reumatismo severo o artritis de Grado Terapéutico III o peor, Clase Funcióna III o peor, o Grado Anatómico III o peor.

Impedimento cardiovascular que resulta en limitación de actividades físicas. Actividad física que es menos que la ordinaria, causa fatiga, palpitaciones, disnea o dolor anginal. Actividad física ordinaria debería ser restringida notablemente.

Impedimento respiratorio severo en que se respira con dificultad, no en los momentos de descanso, pero cuando hace actividades diarias y ordinarias, como subir escaleras o cuando camina más de 200 pies. Cuando hay una enfermedad respiratoria que se puede poner tan severa que requiera hospitalización.

Amputación, deformidad anatómica (debida a déficit vascular o neurológico), pérdida traumática de masa o tendones, o evidencia por rayos X de anquilosis de fibras o huesos y desconyuntamiento, o instabilidad de (a) ambas manos, (b) una mano y un pie, o (c) amputación de una extremidad baja en, o sobre la región tarsal.

Parálisis, falta de coordinación o déficit funcional en el movimiento de dos miembros, debido a daño del cerebro, la espina dorsal o nervios periféricos, incluyendo paraplegia, quadriplegia y hemiplegia.

Una incapacidad de desarrollo es una incapacidad que se manifiesta antes de que la persona alcance 22 anos de edad, que constituye una incapacidad substancial al individuo afectado, y es atribuible al retraso mental o a las condiciones relacionadas que incluyen parálisis cerebral, epilepsia, autismo, u otros condiciones neurológicos.
