BUSINESS WITH COMPASSION “A home is a family’s safe place, the one place that we can all be ourselves and build memories that last a lifetime. The smiles and pictures I am sent from my clients in their new homes is truly priceless and beyond rewarding. Knowing that I played a role in this process is humbling.” David Goldberg When it comes to money and lending, there can often be a transactional coldness to all of it. “Business is business,” as the old adage goes. But the honest reality is that business is personal. David Goldberg and The Goldberg Mortgage Team at United Trust Bank understand this fundamental truth more than most. David is driven by compassion and it’s how he has built his mortgage practice the past 17 years. “I understand that obtaining a mortgage is one of the largest financial transactions in most people’s lives

and some of the documentation requests can seem intrusive. Therefore, I counsel and guide my clients through this emotional process. My compassion and support help get them through the process and into their new home,” David explains. David focuses on highlevel service, communication, and honesty. He is passionate about educating borrowers and individualizing their experience through the loan process to match how they prefer to be served. “Some clients prefer phone calls, while others want to communicate via text or email,” says David.

“We customize the process just like we customize their loan structure – based on their unique preferences.” “We do everything to make the process as stress-free as possible, by providing constant communication and transparency to all parties involved in the transaction – clients, REALTOR® partners, closing attorneys, and title companies,” David continues. “Honesty is above everything else, and if a loan just does not make sense for the client, we always let them know.” When it comes to working with REALTORS® however, David’s team does not waste their time. “When we say a buyer is qualified and issue a pre-approval, that loan will close,” he emphasizes. “The agents that partner with my team also know that their loans will not only close on time, but often ahead of contract dates. This trust and comfort is what sets us

apart from the big bank lenders who often cannot provide this confidence and service to agents.” David is fully committed to being the best in the business due to his growth mindset. From obtaining his Certified Mortgage Advisor license in 2020 (being one of only three in the Cleveland area to do so), to continuing to learn and improve his mortgage practice through attending conferences and training on a regular basis, it’s obvious that David has his client’s satisfaction at heart. And that dedication was proven, having been named as a Top Originator in the United States the past three years by the Scotsman Guide. “By implementing the new processes and technologies that I learn, my clients and referral partners receive even smoother transactions with on-time closings.” And the desire to do so has been developing in David since he was a kid. a successful business, he hoped to become the third-generation owner of a Cleveland-based wholesale plumbing supply company that his grandfather and father ran. However, shortly after he started working there full-time, the business was forced to close. “I was truly crushed, yet I needed to find a job too,” David explains. “I stumbled across an ad in the Plain Dealer for a Mortgage Loan Officer. I checked it out, went in for an interview, and was intrigued by the opportunity as it seemed to meet my entrepreneurial desires. As they say, the rest is history.” In the business since 2004, and working with the same management team at United Trust Bank since 2007, David is currently a Vice President at the bank. He cherishes the tremendous stability, support, mentorship, friendship, and tools he’s been given over the years to build his business, but above all, he is most grateful for

the freedom he has to run his business the way he sees fit. “I am a partner and not just an employee,” David emphasizes. “This has allowed me to build my mortgage practice into one of the largest in the state, personally closing over $70M in loan volume last year, helping thousands of homeowners purchase and refinance their homes over those years.” Outside of the business, David loves spending time with his wife of 23 years, Mindi, and their two sons, Logan (21) and Spencer (18), watching Cleveland and OSU sports, participating in watersports, and “playing really bad golf.” David is proud to have built his own business, especially now that his son, Logan, is working for him as a Marketing Assistant while finishing college. David has left open the possibility for his son to become a second-generation Loan Officer, continuing in the family business. @realproducers
