Located in the centre of Sydney is the gem has gone through a major development in response to the growth of the city, as the population growth following by that.

Data from 2013 shown full map of Barangaroo, yet in the 2018, LIDAR data didn’t display Barangaroo Reserve area This case study will go through rigorous step on solving the problem for 2018 data, meanwhile, in order to show how much the redevelopment of Barangaroo Reserve change since 2013 through cloud point model

01 SITE HISTORY & CONTEXT

Site History This area was of importance to Aboriginal Cadigal people as a hunting and fishing region.

Large shell middens and numerous rock engravings close to the site indicate indigenous occupation dating back around 6,000 years, while radiocarbon dates from other parts of Sydney indicate that the wider area was occupied for at least 14,500 years prior to nonindigenous settlement, from 1788.

Taking account to the culture, in 2013, city council of Sydney along with the group of Landscape Designers decided to recreate the eroded land and refining it into place for heritage reservation. The construction was completed in 2015 and from then on has instigated major rise in visitors, as well as the business activities around.

In 2006 the city got its first proper look at what the development could look like.

The previous year the state government had designated what should become of it – a redevelopment as parkland and commercial space – and launched a design competition. Now the winners were announced: a team made up of Hill Thalis Architecture + Urban Projects, Paul Berkemeier Architects and Jane Irwin Landscape Architecture.
