JULY
Kentucky Wesleyan College is honored to sponsor the first in-person Rooster Booster of 2021 as we work together to reopen the Owensboro community safely, including our return to a fully operational residential campus in the fall of 2021. This year, we are celebrating Owensboro being our home for 70 years! We are proud to not only be a college in Owensboro, but a college for Owensboro. In order to do that and serve our students and broader Wesleyan community, we’ve developed Three Pillars to inform our vision – Academic Innovation and Investment; Building for the Future; and Commitment to Affordability and Excellence. We look forward to working with our constituents, including community partners, as we move forward together. We continue to be dedicated to furthering our mission of preparing students intellectually, spiritually and physically to achieve success in life, and we are proud to be doing so in a community that has shown such resilience over the past year. Our alumni remain a part of the fabric of Owensboro, and are seen throughout our community as leaders in business, education, health care and more. Wesleyan brought them here to pursue a quality education, and the Owensboro community kept them here to put that education into practice. Give us a call at 270-852-3120 or visit kwc.edu to learn more about getting on your Wesleyan Way today!
38 business leaders graduated from the Leadership Owensboro Program at a ceremony presented by German American Bank on Thursday, June 17 following a year of building relationships and in-depth learning about the community. The program consists of nine full-day sessions beginning in September that include topics such as education, human needs and services, local government issues, justice, tourism, healthcare and more. In addition to the once monthly classes, the class members were required to participate in local civic leadership meetings and worked in teams to present a solution to an identified community challenge. Leadership Owensboro, the community leadership program sponsored by the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce has name recognition and a tradition of excellence in building and encouraging Owensboro leaders since 1982. The program, boasting an alumni base of more than one thousand, is the premier local professional development and community learning opportunity. Applications for the 20212022 class beginning in September will be available this July – watch Chamber social media for the announcement! For more information on the Leadership Owensboro program, please contact Executive Director, Hannah Thurman at hthurman@owensboro.com
