Company Overview The Sinaya Company, named after the Philippine mythology goddess of the sea, was founded by students from Quezon City Science High School in collaboration with JA Philippines with a mission not only to produce environmentally friendly stationery products of excellent quality and to promote socially responsible consumption of products, but also to bring light to various social issues such as the protection of marine life biodiversity.

We at Sinaya Company aim to educate nationwide through our minimalist designs that hold meaning and ambition. We want to build a company with our consumers’ beliefs in mind and help them express confidence in their advocacy. Our stationery line is composed of two notebook designs (Paham in Abyss Blue and Cerulean Dive), one memo pad (Alon), and three sticker collections (Scientian, Seas, and Gen-Z).

To our valued shareholders, Our beginning as a company in 2020 started off with great challenges that we were hesitant to face. The COVID-19 pandemic caused a lot of setbacks, especially towards the local businesses around our country. Despite these obstacles, we had to keep going and come to terms with these problems.

In the face of the pandemic, SINAYA Co. managed to pursue our company advocacy. Both the commitment and efforts of our team enabled us to perform well, overview quality production, and successfully launch our brand.

In the years 2021 and 2022, SINAYA Co. has achieved the following: We have established our first line of products catering to the needs of students and professionals. Our stationery line consists of 3 products: notebooks, memo pads, and stickers. Our notebook collection, the pride of our company — “Paham”, a Filipino word meaning scholar, with two designs namely Cerulean Dive and Abyss Blue. Our memo pad “Alon”, is a complimentary product for our notebooks. And lastly, our sticker packs consist of three diverse collections, Seas collection, Gen-Z collection, and Kisay collection.

We as an organization that advocates for environmental protection — specifically water resources conservation, made it a point to promote our products while raising awareness for our cause. Our products are infused with information on how one can promote and practice environmentally friendly tips to protect water resources. Our social media post series “advocasea” also contains information aligned with our cause.

DISPOSITION CHECKS It is the HR Department’s responsibility to make sure that all members are at their optimal state to work in the company. The department asks about their state and concerns bimonthly and sees to it that if there’s any need for assistance, the department would take care of it. Employees are asked to share their current stress feeling in order to ensure that all employees are fit and give assistance if needed.

BRANDING Sinaya, being the Philippine goddess of the sea, exudes elegance and serenity with the element she represents, yet with her is an aura of power and discord; our company’s branding had to follow suit.

The company’s color scheme consisted of blues and pinks, representing the sea and the diverse life it contains. Designs for all branding relied on gradients to reflect the sea’s seemingly unchanging appearance despite its constant turbulence— the colors remain the same, but who’s to say how they will be oriented?

The branding’s typeface needed to reflect Sinaya’s ethos and the characteristics her element represents. Garamond was the typeface deemed the most appropriate for this scenario, being used from poster headlines to callto-actions. Avenir was the typeface used for body copies, which serves as a contrast to Garamond, as well as to keep a clean look for our posts.

SOCIAL MEDIA COLLATERALS A. Profile For our social media identity, we incorporated the ideas in our branding for the display pictures and headers of our social media accounts. We carefully chose a simple typeface and graphics that are both high resolution and huge enough to catch the attention of the audience. Moreover, we observed that a cluttered design comprised of typography and elements is confusing and overwhelming to the eye. As a result, we integrated a fair amount of white space

to allow the eyes to rest. It also assists in directing attention to a certain area of our profile.

B. DP Frame As a part of launching our company, we employed the widespread potential of DP Blast for our publicity. There are two variations of the frame with the same layout to show the relationship, but

the opposite color fills to represent contrast. The frame for the members is more dominant and cogent to emphasize the superiority and importance of the team behind the company. Contrastingly, the use of colors for the ambassadors’ frame is calm and minimalist. The aim of this decision is to relay that they only act as a secondary and their contribution is not as significant as the members’ efforts. A transparent circle for the photo of the individuals allows a perfectly fitted and centered display picture, well-suited for the size and shape of the Facebook profile.

Publicity Materials A layout design may influence the overall look and relationship of visual components, resulting in a more fluid message flow and enhanced efficiency. However, aesthetics alone are insufficient; hence, our design is user-friendly, adaptable, original, and simple to grasp.

When it comes to text components, each sort of graphic requires a distinct quantity of text. We have titles, paragraphs, headings, and subheadings. To provide a breather for the viewer’s eyes, we used pictures such as photography, drawings, or other aesthetics. These are the critical factors that enabled us to interact with consumers in a non-verbal manner. These are extremely effective in the majority of communication channels and are capable of eliciting more than simply emotions. Images may supplement textual material and elevate it to a new degree of engagement.

We divided portions using lines and shapes. Likewise, it is a reliable technique of emphasizing disparities in material or visuals. While the width, length, and palettes to employ in layout design are broad, we applied our branding concepts consistently across all our advertising pieces. The majority of objects that are pleasing to the sight involve some element of balance. As a result, our marketing communications are either symmetrical, asymmetrical, or radial symmetrical in nature. To minimize conflict and uncertainty, we arranged pertinent items together. Furthermore, we selected the proper alignment for each piece of publicity material to support the overall design structure.

PRODUCT DESIGNS We used the proximity concept in our material, using visual space to demonstrate relationships. We ensured that similar components, such as text blocks or visual elements, were grouped together. We split unrelated groups to visually underline their lack of connection. Overall, it improved our work’s readability at a glance, whether it’s solely textual or more graphic.

This does not, however, pertain to physical white space; rather, it refers to negative space, such as the gaps between our message, between lines, and even the outside edges. It aided in the definition and separation of various parts; it offered our content breathing space.

Production Department PRODUCTION PROCESS Notebooks (Paham) The notebook production process can be summed up in four general steps: creating the notebook designs, producing the notebook covers, printing the notebook leaves, and binding. Two notebook variations (Abyss Blue and Cerulean Dive) were produced and were designed with SINAYA Co.’s advocacy in mind—to promote marine conservation and environmental welfare.

A. Notebook Design The first step of the production process was carried out by the creatives department, which was in charge of designing and visualizing how the notebook should appear.

SECOND DESIGN The company eventually decided to have two cover variations, each with a different textile orientation and color of faux leather. The additional design that was made had a vertically-oriented textile, covering 2/3 of the notebook with cerulean for the color of the faux leather.

materials the manufacturer had at hand. For the final design, the company members agreed to switch the two colors and orientation of the textile. A silver 1.5 x 1.5 SINAYA Co. logo was placed on both notebook designs.

B. Creation of Notebook Covers As could be observed from the previous step, the design for the notebook cover underwent various modifications. For the final design, a gray book cover was necessary to make the sewing of the faux leather and textile seamless. The faux leather and textile were attached to a sturdy material called chipboard. It was the base of the notebook.

The last step was the embossment of the company’s logo. It is silver in color with a size of 1.5 x 1.5 inches.

C. Printing of Notebook Leaves The notebook consisted of 80 cream-colored, dotted sheets. In line with the company’s primary objective, a page that serves to educate its audience about the ocean and environmental welfare was printed on the first page of each notebook.

The Abyss Blue variation had a page dedicated to sharing information about various endangered marine wildlife species in the Philippines. On the other hand, Cerulean Dive, the other notebook design, contained an advocacy page that shared information about water conservation tips.

Bookmarks (Freebie) Our main product, Paham, comes with a free bookmark which comes in two designs that feature ocean-inspired designs. Either one of the two bookmarks could come with an order of the notebook. As it could be observed in the following pictures, one bookmark has a quote about the sea while the other has a motivational one.

The designs of the two bookmarks were once again done by the creatives department in collaboration with members of the executive and public relations departments. It was printed on 2 x 6 in, matte, 250 GSM paper.

Sticker Packs Three different sticker collections were produced.

The Seas Pack, The Gen-Z Pack, and The Scientian Pack. Each of the collections has five designs that feature graphically-designed artwork that is eye-catching and appealing to the youth.

To promote marine wildlife conservation and awareness, the Seas Pack was produced. It includes designs that feature endangered marine species.

Given that SINAYA Co. is a Quezon City Science High School (Kisay) based company, a collection of stickers called the Scientian Pack was designed. “Scientian” is what you call someone who studies in Kisay.

The sticker collection was made for the students, alumni, teachers, or staff of Kisay.

To cater to a wider target audience, the Gen-Z Pack was created. This was to appeal to the youth using popular or trendy designs that relate to the culture of Generation Z. The first step of producing the stickers was the ideation of designs which was done by the company, then the designing process which was done by SINAYA Co.’s creatives team along with two commissioned artists. Once the designs were ready and formatted, 20 packs of each sticker collection were printed on vinyl sticker paper. The stickers had an approximate measurement of 2x2 inches.

Memo Pads (Alon) A. Memo pad Design The first step for the production of the memo pad was carried out by the creatives department who were in charge of designing and visualizing how the memo pad should appear. The idea of including a memo pad is that we understand the importance of it to students, we put important meetings, dates, and even assignments, anything that can be written on a piece of paper that will serve as a reminder.

This manufacturer provided all the materials needed for the cover and inside of the notebook. SINAYA Co. provided the textile which was bought from “angelostio” an online seller on Shopee. Judessa Custom Notebooks, managed by Ms. Eloisa Babiano, accommodated the demands of the company well.

After the initial high from the opening of the orders, we faced a slump in January, which was our weakest month for sales overall. With the help of promotions and the amping-up of our online presence, the company was able to bring about great sales in the months that followed.
