What is the project about?

This project is made for a tourist attraction. It offers different, challenging and extreme environment, built and mixed with already existing nature. A place to spend some quality time, relax, enjoy the views and escape from the exhausting city life.

The first idea for this project came from the little town in Georgia that uses cable-cars as their way of transportation. The idea of hanging houses seemed very fascinating to me so I started developing its concept more deeply.

Where does an inspiration come from?

For my project I decided to choose an existing place in China, using a spectacular nature in my benefit.

One of the many ancient traditions in China, is silk-making.

I wanted to take some parts of this tradition and recreate it in architecture.

How is silk made?

Silkworms make silk by spewing a substance called fibroin through small holes in their jaws called spinnerets. The spewed-out substance consists of digested leaves and protein produced by the worm. The silkworm produces up to 1200 silken threads within a 72 hour time period.

Therefore, I wanted to do a research on these economically important inects, observe their behavior and movements while producing silk.

How do I use this research into my project?

The main aspect of this project is a constant movement.

1st t step: Streching several fundamental lines between the cliffs in China to have a base structure.

2nd step: Placing hanging objects in the corners to then start spreading throughout the entire area adding more structure to it.

3rd step: Creating a one whole connected environment by making a new paths.

One of the fundamental concept of my project is mixing mother nature creations and men-made together.

Notes: Objects are hanging on the base structure with their hooks. They produce a special material from the inside of the tube that comes out as a “net/silk structure� building material and holds the pieces together.

Retractable Glass Wall with Electrostatic Field

Glass wall is used as storm protection. When the day is fair and sunny the glass wall is retracted and the electrostatic field acts like a barrier against mosquitoes and other microorganisms.
