But I just don’t fancy listening to Justin Bieber. Your tattoos are inspired by heavy metal music. Tell us what that’s all about! When you’re into heavy metal, you automatically come across tattoos. Many musicians are completely covered in them. What I find interesting is that the tattoos are never just randomly applied; there is always a story behind them. You are inking something into your skin that you might have experienced in your past, or something that is still relevant to you. It is like a document folder, where you file your life’s events. At some stage in everyone’s life we all have to battle our demons, whether they are big or small. In the world of heavy metal, these battles are played out through tattoos, usually in a pretty dark style. I soon realized that I wanted to have tattoos too – and if I was going to do it, then it had to be done right. Now, the majority of my body has tattoos on it. There is still a bit of space on my legs for one or two more maybe.

Family, work, music, climbing – what are your goals for the future? Every climber, including me, has goals in mind. At the moment, however, I would prefer not to say any more about that. Fundamentally, I would like to carry on putting up new routes here in the Frankenjura, with the odd trip to other regions now and then. I would be happy with that!

Neben dem Klettern und der Familie hast Du noch eine weitere große Leidenschaft: die Musik. Was fasziniert Dich daran? Die Musik – härtere Musik, vor allem Heavy Metal in den verschiedensten Formen – ist extrem wichtig für mich. Im Prinzip beschäftigt mit Heavy Metal, seit ich 14 Jahre alt bin. Seitdem ist das meine Musik und das Schöne ist, dass ich ein paar Freunde habe, die die gleiche Leidenschaft teilen und wir immer wieder gemeinsam auf Konzerte fahren. Hier kann ich Dampf ablassen, wenn sich etwas aufgestaut hat. An Heavy Metal fasziniert mich, dass er viele Facetten hat, die sich erst zeigen, wenn man sich intensiv damit beschäftigt. In diesem Musik-Stil gibt es viele Charaktere, die sehr tief im Sumpf saßen und sich mit Hilfe der Musik selbst wieder herausgezogen haben. Möglicherweise gibt es das auch in anderen Musikrichtungen. Aber Justin Bieber mag ich einfach nicht hören. Die Tattoos auf Deinem Körper sind stark vom Heavy Metal inspiriert. Erzähl uns, was es damit auf sich hat! Wenn man sich viel mit Heavy Metal beschäftigt, wird man automatisch mit Tattoos konfrontiert, viele Musiker sind komplett zugestochen. Das Interessante für mich ist, dass die Tattoos nie wahllos angebracht sind, sie haben immer eine Geschichte zu erzählen. Man bringt etwas unter die Haut, was man in der Vergangenheit erlebt hat oder was einen weiterhin beschäftigt. Es ist wie ein Aktenordner, in den man sein Leben ablegt. Jeder hat in seinem Leben irgendwann mit kleineren oder größeren Dämonen zu kämpfen. Im Heavy Metal wird dies mit Tattoos verarbeitet, meist in einem recht dunklen Stil. Für mich war ziemlich schnell klar, dass auch ich Tattoos haben möchte – und zwar wenn, dann richtig. Inzwischen ist ein großer Teil meines Körpers tätowiert. An den Beinen ist noch ein wenig Platz, da kommt möglicherweise noch das ein oder andere dazu. Familie, Arbeit, Musik, Klettern – welche Ziele hast Du für die Zukunft? Natürlich hat jeder Kletterer Ziele im Kopf, auch ich. Im Moment möchte ich dazu allerdings nichts weiter sagen. Grundsätzlich möchte ich weiter hier in der Fränkischen neue Routen erstbegehen und ab und zu in andere Gebiete fahren. Dann bin ich eigentlich schon zufrieden!
