FALCON

Falcons are birds of prey belonging to the Falconidae family. They are known for their extraordinary hunting ability, keen eyesight and speed in flight. There are several species of falcons, each with specific characteristics that make them unique. These birds are found in various habitats, from arctic regions to deserts, adapting perfectly to their surroundings.

They have a stout body, long, pointed wings and a relatively short tail. Their feathers are designed to reduce air resistance and allow for greater speed during flight. The sharp claws and curved beak are essential tools for catching and killing prey. Falcons’ eyesight is exceptional: they can spot prey even kilometers away.

Hawks are diurnal predators and hunt mainly during the day. Their diet varies depending on the species, but in general, they feed on small mammals, birds, reptiles and insects.

Hawks are usually monogamous and form stable pairs over many breeding seasons. Females lay 2 to 6 eggs, which they incubate for approximately 28-35 days. Both parents participate in raising the young, which leave the nest approximately 40-50 days after hatching.

Falcons are birds of prey known for their speed and stealth, characteristics that make them exceptional predators. Speed is one of their most striking qualities. Their anatomy is perfectly adapted for this purpose: tapered, muscular wings, a long, flexible tail that helps them maneuver precisely, and a streamlined body that reduces air resistance. The most interesting evolutionary feature, however, are the small bony growths inside the nostrils that “break” the air flows that enter the nose during the dive. Without such growths it has been shown that the lungs wouldphysically explode due to velocity and pressure (a feature echoed in aircraft engines).

In addition to speed, falcons are also masters of stealth. Their keen eyesight allows them to spot prey from great distances, often long before the prey is aware of their presence. They can fly silently thanks to the structure of their feathers, which minimizes the noise produced during flight (hence the stealth capabilities of the aircraft).

From the falcon-like characteristics, a small aircraft was born capable of supersonic speeds, great maneuverability, but above all equipped with stealth capabilities. Even the shape recalls that of the bird. In fact numerous similarities can be noted, such as the beak-shaped snout. In the cockpit, behind the pilot seats, there is a small compartment of approximately 15 m^3 of cargo. The “Falcon” aircraft was not born as a “predator” fighter (for this reason it is not equipped with any type of weapon), but as an infiltrator capable of carrying out deliveries of basic necessities, medicines and fuel.
