Separate symbols and memories from hardware How to transplant and carry?

It is different from the villages I lived in since I was a child, and also different from the bustling cities I saw when I traveled. The shape and appearance have become the signs of my understanding of Taipei, and perhaps it is also the self-evident nature of Taipei.

I found that the foyer is a space that is not available in the house but is needed by everyone. I tried to put the semi-public space of the foyer into the interface of Taipei Walkup, which was originally divided into public and private.

Experimental house plan

Under the structural system of turning the Staircase turns 45 degrees, in addition to the private living space and the semi-public foyer space, the occupants also have a blank space sandwiched in the residential unit that can be used freely, and a platform can be added as a courtyard, you can also set up stairs as a secondary moving line connecting neighbors.

Chien-Cheng Circle

I researched around Chien Cheng Circle that was famous in the 1960s but it is stuck development now. In it, I found six types of Taipei walkups, and many of the back alleys are occupied.

In the original building, it can be found that the position of the staircase hinders the configuration of the space and blocks the sunlight.

Therefore, I exchanged the position of the staircase and the violation of the back alley to discuss the configuration with a complete space, and remove the circulation system back to reexamine the relationship between entrances of residential buildings facing the road and building facades.

Private property rights are pushed into the public space, so the semi-public foyer should become a part of the public space and become the agreed property rights bound by public circulation.

The adjusted residence also redefines the circulation of house owners, residents,pedestrians, travelers and vehicle. The front street side is like a show window,showing internal activities; the back alley side becomes an independent walking circulation for residents, creating a new social network through the interweaving of main and secondary circulation system.

The impact of the changes of the times on Taipei walkups are divided into residential layer and commercial layer. Different types of Taipei walkups are inhabited by different ethnic groups. They will have different space requirements in different periods, and will produce different architectural appearances over a long period of time.

After separating the residential floor and the commercial floor, the circulation system is also adjusted accordingly. Different types of Taipei Walkups are operated in different ways, and the diversity of the original space is maintained while being renovated.

The business model has reduced demand for physical stores due to the rise of online shopping, so I split up the original whole size store into smaller stores, and combined these stores under the semi-detached Taipei walkups with the markets or shared commercial space. 住商直通梯型

將4戶店面商店 結合成市集或是 共享辦公空間

Taking the businesses in the second section of Yanping North Road and the second section of Chongqing North Road as an example, fast businesses are concentrated near the arterial roads, while most of the lanes are slow businesses that require walking.

Therefore, by moving the residential floors up and placing them in the gaps between residents and businesses, I opened up the street profile to create pedestrian businesses, allowing pedestrians and bicycles to have safer, more convenient routes.
