iWeb Portfolio Set Up SMART SHEET Greene Central High School

Please use the information presented below to help your students with the creation of their iWeb Portfolio. You will need to refer to the four smart sheets presented during staff development or you can access them on the web from here. If you have any difficulty, please contact Michael. First Session— April 22, 2009 Objective— Students will be able to create the basic framework of the electronic portfolio by selecting a suitable template and creating the essential pages and navigational structure. Please refer to the first smart sheet. Students should select an appropriate template. The first page should be a Welcome page. Students will add basic introductory information on this page: 1) Name; 2) School Name; and 3) Current Year. After completing the rest of the set up, students may go back and add pictures to this page. The next page should be an About Me page. This page is where the students will either copy and paste their autobiography, put a link to the actual document, or can post a video introducing themselves. Additionally, a personal statement, lifestyle assessment, and learning styles inventory & reflection should be posted from this page. If students do not have these items or cannot find them, move on. Don’t let this page become a roadblock. Students need to create four additional blank pages: 1) Academics; 2) School & Community Involvement; 3) College Access; and 4) Graduation Project. These pages should be blank pages. To add a new page, click on the plus sign in the bottom left corner of iWeb. The template window will appear. Please instruct the students to use the same template throughout their portfolio. It simply looks tacky and unprofessional to have pages within the same site using different templates. From the template selection window, choose the appropriate page form from the template. The page name can be changed by double-clicking on the page name in the left navigation column. Click “File” and “Save.” This is the end of the first session. Hopefully your students will have finished this part of the set up process. If not, please pick up where your students left off. Second Session— April 29, 2009 Objective— Students will create departmental pages and the appropriate navigational structure. Please refer to the second, third and fourth smart sheets. Students will create blank pages with the following names: English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Foreign Languages, Health & PE, CTE, Fine Arts, and ROTC. Refer to the instructions last week on adding blank pages. To prevent these pages from appearing in the navigation menu: 1. In the sidebar, select the page that is not to be included in the navigation menu. Greene County Schools
