LETTER FROM THE EDITOR keep tripping over or is making you fall? What out dated beliefs are you holding on to? What clutter can be cleared? What are you ready to jump into this Fall? What changes have you been putting off? What steps can you take towards greater fulfillment? Harness your childhood energy to start something new. What do you need to start saying "no" to? What is zapping your energy? What do you want to stop doing? “Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower. ~Albert Camus Summer has ended and it is now time to embrace and say hello to Autumn. The change of seasons is a good time to reflect on what changes you want to make in your everyday life. What would you like to manifest this Fall to have more fulfillment in your life? Use the energy of Fall with its vibrant leaves and nip in the air to reflect on what it is you really want. As I look forward to the coming vibrant colors of leaves and the crunching sound of them under my feet I am brought back to childhood memories. I remember as a kid running full blast into a giant pile of leaves and picking them up and trying to throw them. There is also that nip in Autumn that energizes and awakens the senses and renews the spirit. The change in seasons is a good time to reflect on what changes we want to make in our lives. What can you do to show your vibrant self this Fall? What do you want right now? How can you be more true to yourself? What routine would you like to fall back into? Any old habits or hobbies you should bring back into your life? What do you miss? What is getting in your way? What do you

Start by reflecting and making changes in your life. By pondering the above questions you are taking the first step towards change and getting closer to something you want. Big or small strides it does not matter. A greater awareness of what we want, what we miss and what we are tolerating is a start. Celebrate this new season by identifying changes you would like to see in your everyday life. You deserve it ALL. Go for it!

reetings and a warm welcome to the September issue of Creative Sacred Living Magazine!

Please take some time to get to know the layout of our magazine. You will notice that this is more than just a magazine, it is also an interactive, multi-media presentation. Keep an eye out for clickable links! You can peruse the articles on the "In this Issue" page to choose which to read first (Just click them and you are taken directly to that page). Just as with a paper magazine, you may want to sit and read the whole thing at once, or come back to this issue several times to digest the articles more slowly. When we set out to create an on-line magazine that would promote Creative and Sacred living, one thing I was adamant about was to steer away from the glossy images of the too perfect, product-driven magazines that we all sometimes read. What you will find in the pages of Creative Sacred Living is a collection of inspired and authentic articles written by real, honest, down-to-earth folks who work ha to live deliberately, but who are not afraid to admit the struggles we sometimes face. All sponsor ads in the magazine are from authentic and empowering businesses that I personally recommend and have experienced. I am honored to share the work of so many committed and thoughtful people. Please feel free to send feedback on the articles, to share your thoughts or ask the author a question. Each author has their contact information listed in their bios. We appreciate your support and are so happy to have you as a reader! Creative Sacred Living Magazine.com With warmest thanks,

Dr. Villoldo unveils how to heal and recover from these destructive imprints and regain our physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing. Join us as we travel to the Andes Mountains to learn the secret of the ancient Shamans, a secret that can lead all of us to health, happiness and beauty. It was here, that he discovered the wisdom of the luminous body from the indigenous shamans. This ancient knowledge reveals the secret of true health and happiness.

There is one vibratory field that connects all things. It has been called Akasha, Logos, the primordial OM, the music of the spheres, the Higgs field, dark energy, and a thousand other names throughout history. It is the same field of energy that saints, Buddhas, yogis, mystics, priests, shamans and seers have observed by looking within themselves. It is the common link between all religions, and the link between our inner worlds and our outer worlds.

In My Shoes with Deborah Jane Milton Reclaiming our Mythic Mojo My friend, Jeff Leinaweaver PhD, an extraordinary man, asked me to help him launch a Joseph Campbell Foundation Mythological Roundtable Group here on the island where we live near Seattle, WA. Sunday the 17th of August was our launch. Our group’s conversation that night still has me buzzing but I was even more surprised by the revelations that came to me as I prepared to tell one of Campbell’s favorite myths. On the surface, we all know the story of the Frog Prince, where the power of a kiss transforms ugliness to beauty. But in this version, perhaps older and closer to the original, there is no kiss but a SPLAT.

Now that wakes me! I begin to probe the story with inquisitive antenna. Why are ostrich feathers, not peacock, eagle or robin, on the heads of the horses? Why a gold ball and not one of silver or with green and blue stripes? Why does the princess seem like a child on the first day of the story and on the second is ready for marriage? And what about those bands around Faithful Henry’s heart? I tell you, once I begin listening to this story with my “third ear”, an endless array of exhilarating paths show up to carry me ever more deeply into amazement. The most astonishing revelation is this. The pivotal event of the princesses’ ball rolling into the deep dark waters of a well takes place under an “old linden tree.” Why not an oak, or a fig, or a maple, or even a sweet pine? But the story specifies a linden. Being a researcher at heart and a “bookaholic”in my core, I turn to my own library and find: The Meaning of Trees by Fred Hageneder. Happily, linden is listed in the index. I just about levitate with excitement. Not only are these trees a nectar source for bees and thus often nicknamed the “bee tree,” ( Isn’t that propitious given the plight of bees on our planet?), they’re also known as the “soothing tree” whose tea is good for the heart, calms children, eases diarrhea, high blood pressure, sinus conditions and skin problems. But here’s the really fascinating bit with respect to the Frog Prince story: the linden was the traditional hub of village life and the gathering place for both feasts and courts of law. Considered a sacred tree, it is “revealing that the ancients gathered, discussed and judged underneath the ‘female’ linden which represents mercy, rather than the ‘male’ oak tree” associated with the god Thor.

My mouth gapes open as I get it! Our ancestors recognized guidance and wisdom in every aspect of the world around them and specified specifics in every story because they knew their community understood the significance. We’ve lost all that meaning! We are no longer embedded in a “wisdom world” and have to turn to secondary sources, as I did, to grasp the depth of meaning in the details of a story. We dismiss a treasure trove of information and interconnectedness when we deprive the world of sentience and relevance. As industrial/technological/information age humans, we have lost our ability to receive direct wisdom and unprocessed knowledge. WOW, just WOW again! No wonder we feel alienated and ungrounded. But there is good news: We can reclaim our enchanted relationship to the world. All we need do is choose to experience the world as a living being. The world is waiting for our return and responds quickly. Example: On June Solstice a few men and women gathered on a beach to honor the waters of the planet and pay homage to the changing of the sun’s path. I made a short video of the experience which you can watch Below.

I’m a newby to video making and by accident left the camera on toward the end of our ritual art making. That mistake allows you to witness the blessedness rising as we humans begin to recognize the earth’s response to our loving gesture. It’s so simple really and so enlivening, igniting our mundane lives with the sacredness of reclaiming our mythic mojo. Invitation: Wherever you are on this planet on the weekend of September Equinox, I invite you, alone or with friends, to go outside and Make Artful Prayers ( MAP ) of some sort in acknowledgement of your love for life on this planet. You can read more about MAPping at Praying True on Facebook and let us know here/there how the earth shows up to dance with you.

CAN YOU "FENG SHUI" AN ARTS AND CRAFTS BOOTH? Many people use the term "feng shui" very loosely, but as a verb the implication is to do something which can change a space to attract more business to the vendor. Even though you cannot do the same, in any traditional sense, with something like a car, you can actually assess an Arts and Crafts booth, if certain things are under your control. For example, if a booth is going to be inside a convention center or some indoor environment, the booth will be like a work cubicle, where it is part of the "bigger picture." I once had a client doing shows at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium and it was easy to identify the better parts of the building with a floor plan readily available to divide into directional sectors. Looking up when the building was built is also just a click away on the tax assessor's website. Once you have identified the best part of the building, there may or may not be a way to address the area with elemental remedies, but just being in the better part of a building can give someone a "leg up" or advantage in comparison to other vendors. Of course, there is also some environmental psychology at play, as some people like to be right near the door and others notice more business when positioned near food vendors or bathrooms. This is strictly about visibility and sometimes that alone can help you do better as a vendor. For outdoor venues, there is no flying star chart to consider. This is the energy field that gets captured inside a building. But there can be some outside cues in terms of how the qi flows best. This is where a feng shui consultant would try to determine the best qi flow arrangement, with the aisles between booths being much like virtual roads. Yin-Yang Theory would also come into play and this includes a lot of things that are common sense, like not being in a dark, dingy area. With the actual booth lay-out, there are some design tricks which many seasoned vendors are already aware of. These are things you can

do to lure people towards your booth and to stay longer. Often, a long table is set up at the "facing" side of the booth and items for sale are right at the edge of the booth perimeter. There is nothing wrong with this arrangement. But by creating a U-shape where the facing side of the booth is open, it requires that potential customers come into the booth area, literally, in order to see the items for sale on display deeper into the booth. This allows the seller to engage in conversation easier with the customer. This alone can increase potential sales. My Technique's Bad And I'm So Sad Intuitive Painting Bluess Over and over again, I hear a common complaint from students in my intuitive painting classes that goes something like this... "My painting doesn't look the way I want it to because I don't have enough artistic training . I can see this perfectly formed image in my head and I want to make it appear on the paper exactly as I see it, line for line." For example, a student in one of my classes recently painted an image of a woman with the intention that the figure would appear very happy and carefree. However, when the image came out looking masklike and somewhat stiff, she started blaming her capabilities as a painter. "I know that the problem is that I don't have enough technique. If I had that, I could completely control the outcome of my painting and then I would be happy!" This part of the mind can be so darned sneaky. Listening to her statement, the operative word that jumped out at me immediately was control. "If only I had enough skill I could be completely in charge of this darn wayward brush. If only I had enough training I could wrestle my creative process to the ground and make it give me exactly WHAT I WANT." What's really true, and what most people don't want to hear, is that there are no mistakes in the land of

intuitive, soul painting. The images being born out of your brush are coming into the world exactly as they were meant to be. Your frustration with what shows up really has nothing to do with lack of skill or technique. No matter what your skill level, if you are able to let go and surrender, the painting will simply show you what is genuine and real for you in any given moment. And you are not necessarily always going to like what you see. The painting is an incredibly accurate gauge for where you are, not where you expect yourself to be. So when the painting doesn't conform to your expectations and bow down and obey, you round up the usual suspects and blame the poor brush.

When we are painting from our intuitive center we are allowing the unconscious part of the mind a direct avenue of expression. And the unconscious cares not a whit about technique. The deep psyche can be satisfied if you paint your mother as a stick figure or if you paint her as if you were channeling Rembrandt. The only thing that the deep psyche really cares about is the symbol, and that can be expressed with no technical expertise whatsoever. Now, there is nothing wrong with the pleasure that comes from executing an image with great skill and technical virtuosity. It is a real satisfaction and can be very fulfilling on it's own terms. BUT IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO HAVE ANY The woman in the above LEVEL OF SKILL IN ORDER TO example wanted to see herself CREATE! as free and exuberant. Seeing the stiff and mask-like part of All we have learned about herself was painful. She was creativity in this loony having a hard time just western culture gives us accepting with compassion exactly the opposite message. that aspect of her being. But if We are taught that we don't you are able to cultivate an DARE to create unless we have attitude of mercy and curiosity a great deal of technical for what shows up on the virtuosity at our disposal, and paper in front of you, there that if we try to create and are can also be a tremendous unskilled, we are just making experience of self acceptance fools of ourselves. YUCK!!! and with telling the truth about DOUBLE YUCK!! There is no who and where you are right room in this attitude for play, here and right now. There is a for experimentation, for gift in telling the truth, making things up, for making because the truth is where the mistakes, for being anything energy lies. And the energy is less than perfect. your direct connection to the present moment and being Whenever i am speaking to a fully alive. group about this approach to art I always see a few light

bulbs go off in peoples minds when I make the statement that creativity and skill are two very different things. That skill is something you learn and that anyone CAN learn if you are willing to devote the time to developing it, but that our creativity is effortless and innate , a gift given to us by spirit. Intuitive process art is about valuing the inner over the outer. What you feel is more important than how it looks. Your internal experience is what counts, not the external product. The innermost private world of your feeling landscape and the expression of that inner life is the highest priority. If you feel excited, engaged, energized and compelled as you are painting, that is enough. What it looks like doesn't really matter. This concept is extremely hard for most people to get. The attachment, verging on compulsion, to focus on the external is very deeply wired in us. It is so unconscious, and so much a part of our intrinsic world view, that initially we can't see it for what it is, which is just one more belief system. We unquestioningly accept the voice in our minds that says, "I literally CANNOT feel satisfied, engaged and happy if my

artwork doesn't look the way I want it to look." This profound split between the internal and the external is part of the western mindset where it almost feels like heresy to say that what we feel has value just because we feel it. If you learn to listen, you can get valuable messages from your insides. There is magic there and an abundance of wisdom and intuitive guidance. If you let go of control there are wild rides through internal landscapes of incredible complexity and richness that feed you in ways that just focusing on external presentation never can. You have a natural expression that doesn't need to be trained. It doesn't need to be polished, controlled, cleaned up and made presentable. It is good enough, more than good enough, just as it is. Trusting your own unique and spontaneous style and giving it room to live and breathe, can lead to profound experiences of healing, of trusting yourself and of trusting life, unlike anything that can happen when you grasp so tightly for control.

domesticated part of you will only take you down welltrodden paths that lead to places that you've already been a hundred times before. But the wild, unexplored, unfamiliar places inside of you are where things begin to get interesting. If you let go of control and let anything happen, what will be revealed? Some passion, some hunger, some wildness may show through. Some long suppressed aspect of yourself that has been kept in the chains in the dungeon of your psyche may break through into the light of day. Can you risk it? Are you willing to give it a try?

Using counseling, astrology and the expressive arts, Chris Zydel has worked with hundreds of people over 28 years, to help them joyfully grow and expand into their full creative potential.

You cannot rely upon the accomplished, well-trained and ultimately well-behaved aspect of yourself to lead you anywhere new. That

AUTHENTIC HOWL An AN Authentic Howl

with Cynthia Lee

Wake Up Dear wild and spirited one, What do you do when you don't know what to do? How do you find your way home when lost is all you've been for such a long time? When the light is so bright in your sleepy eyes and you just want to crawl back under the covers, how do you stay awake? I get it. I understand. Life is hard sometimes. The demands come from left and right. Someone or something always needs your attention. The perfect, productive, creative day you planned loses priority to just one more crisis. The washer is leaking. A child is sick. The car breaks down and now juggling all the schedules is an exercise in balancing balloons on the tip of your finger. Near impossible. Before you know it, you are just going through the motions of living. Putting one foot in front of the other is easier than cutting a path through the brambles of life. Robotically existing becomes so normal that you don't even remember what it feels like to breathe, really breathe. Dreaming, hoping, and wishing become the foreign language that you don't know how to speak. What do you do when you need to revive your creative spirit? How do you pump life back into your beating heart? What will it take to wake the wild one from her slumber? Dear spirited one, do you hear? The wind is calling your name. From the mountains to the sea, the earth needs your presence. Your creative energy is the healing force for

yourself, for your corner of the world and beyond. Wake up. Wake up. Wake up. Open your eyes, open your ears, open your heart. Turn around and leave the lifeless legacy behind. Just a flicker, barely a flame, is all it takes to reignite your life. Take one breathe, then another, then another. Fill your lungs and your soul with the courage it takes to discover yourself. Exhale the knowing love of being, simply being. Write one word, then another, then another. Sentences will form. Poems will flow from your fingertips. Lyrics begging for measures of notes. Play or sing one note, then another, then another. Your resurrection song will rise to the rafters. Let freedom ring indeed. Pick up that brush and paint one stroke, then another, then another. Capture the masterpiece of yourself upon that canvas. Show us your spirit in living color. Relish one bite, then another, then another. Taste the sweet and the sour, bitter and all. Feast as if for the first time. Take one sip, then another, then another. Drink deeply, refreshing your parched and paralyzed throat. Be it coffee or tea ... wine, whiskey, or water ... open your mouth wide and take what you will, what you need, what you want. Laugh out loud, then again, and over and over. Let your peals echo from corner to corner. Who cares if they laugh with you or at you because the point is that we all need more laughter. Weep well for once, and twice, and once again. Tears will bathe the dust and the grime of living from your heart. You will be cleansed and ready. Give one hug, then another one tighter, and another tightest of all. Don't let go first. Hold on as long as you can. Speak your truth one time, then louder, and then shout it from the rooftops. The wind will capture your words and carry them forth. For there is another spirited one who needs to hear her name called.

Wake up, wild and spirited one. Wake up.

LETTING GO

by Melisa Potter box I couldn't throw in the garbage; that large box of special things like a china birthday girl I've had since I was two, magic spells, pottery from friends, turtle shells and rattle parts, a special feather basket Seamus made in middle school for me. Prayer ties, stones little Seamus' s hands picked up from the beach, a clay traveler's chest made by him in elementary school for Mast Way School's immigration study; he played an Irishman named Jack. Seamus' ponytail from when he'd grown his hair long for the Oliver play.

Set out for the sea, this afternoon, to do some letting go. Thought of Dad. Cried, right away, imagining my big, strong father transformed to ashes in a black box on my office bookcase, and just then, "The Rose," by Bette Midler came on the radio- my father's mother's favorite song - her name was Florence Rose. I sang this song to her the last time I saw her, full-voice through the halls of her nursing home. People peeked their heads out of doorways. Pulled over in a special spot with a box of stuff to release but it didn't feel like the right place. I found a heart stone on the way out. Drove the shore to where I spent part of my birthday this summer, took the large box I have carried in the car for the last year, filled with items I've carried for, seemingly, a lifetime, and I carried this box up a large embankment of beach stones.

When I got to the top, I saw the way down was so steep, and over rocks, that I knew I would fall if I tried to make it down with that large

This box was filled with clay hearts, shell hearts, sea glass, dusty lavender, and paper mache masks. One of my favorite things in this box was a pregnant pottery woman with wild, long hair I made when I first found out I would be a Mother. Despite my closest friends thinking this free spirit gypsy could never ever be a Mom, I made this as an inspiration to myself, and it hung on my wall for years until it broke (probably moving!) Into the wet clay, before it cooked in the kiln that made it shine, I wrote, "Yes I can!!" I turned my purple sandal on a smooth stone and prepared to descend the unstable stone hill. "Carrying my past around is hard work, hea vy work," I thought. And as if I had planned it, the cardboard box, weak from days in the rain while it moved from the back-back of our Subaru to the driveway this August, broke

ground. Knowing I couldn't keep it there I began picking it up and putting the pieces of my life into bags I'd had in that same back-back of my car.

Now there were pieces of pieces of my past lying around me on the white-blue stones of Rye Beach. As if I had a powerful magnet pulling me away from the ground, there were certain items that seemed to want me to leave them right there where they fell. Who might find these treasures some day? I drove back up the coast to my favorite spot on the shore. Here again

walked in balance up and down the ancient stones and found the place I would lay my past to rest.

The sun began to fall in the west. The wind carried voices of children, ocean waves, and frustrated Mothers adding middle names to show they were serious about one, last swim and we're leaving. This summer I have said goodbye too many times. This Saturday I will say Goodbye, for now, to the boy I birthed 19 summers ago. Before I moved to my new place in early August I released everything in the house I was not in love with. Today I left the past on the cliffs of a beautiful shore.

The Great Mother of us all teaches me to rise and fall with deep breaths, to receive and to l et go, even when I want to hold on for dear life to the ending of what I love. May there be acceptance and peace in my heart as I step onto the new roads. May there be a lighter feeling in me, having released the past. May I create a comfort shawl of all these beautiful memories to use on cold or lonely nights, but one that can also be like a tapestry cloak of joy that celebrates every single moment of my life that has brought me to this summer shore of I pulled two heavy plastic bags of memories late-August - this beautiful moment. Great from the car and planned my journey over the Mother may I step forward and know that rock cliffs. Bags rip when they're filled and doing so will take nothing away from anyone heavy with old, shards of the past that I have or anything in my past. May we all be blessed held onto too long, and things spill out as I walk and grateful. the new roads I'm meant to travel: broken hearts, torn wings, masks, strands of fabric from an ancestor stick I made long ago, meant to lie in a November forest in 2007, but carried instead, like a torch keeping the past well lit. I

THE FOUR ELEMENTS Rituals at Hot Mineral Springs

By Lisbeth Alexander

Have you ever taken a trip just for you? That's what I did last weekend. What a wonderful way to relax and enjoy the company of "your own self!" Last weekend I took an impromptu, wonderful, long overdue trip to the nearby Hot Springs. It is only a few hours away and the drive there and back was relaxing, with only a few folks on the highway who seemed like they needed to soak and relax at the hot springs a little more than I did! (Chill out guys! You'll get there maybe five minutes faster by being a jerk and are probably taking years off of your life time!) Anyway, it was a beautiful winter day, and even though it was the weekend, there weren't a lot of people also visiting the Hot Springs. The other people who were there spoke a cornucopia of different languages. It was lovely to lay back, relax, and Zen out to the sound of conversations I couldn't understand. While I was there, I did a mini ritual in my head. Just from soaking in the exceptionally hot water, I felt so peaceful and grounded. It was wonderful and I wanted to take advantage of that feeling of groundedness. I mentally cast my circle and felt enclosed in a blue bubble of protective light. I called in the Elements and thanked them for being with me and protecting me. Then I spent some time thanking the Goddess and God for all the wonderful things I have in my life; my home, my children, my friends, my family, etc.!

It was at that point that I realized that the hot springs are all four elements rolled in one. Earth and the North were comprised of the minerals from deep inside the earth. Air from the East was represented by the steam that lifted off the surface of the water into the cold winter day. Fire and the South were tangible in the temperature of the water. And finally, the West, water; so medicinal and cleansing. As I soaked and thanked the elements, I looked up to the burning sun; the God. Just slightly to the east was the moon; the Goddess. I felt complete. All the Elements, the God, the Goddess; all combined to give me their blessings. As my mind drifted from Element to Element, I was blown away by what a perfect place the Hot Springs are to worship this planet we call home. So, the next time you have the chance to visit some Hot Springs, go. Don't think twice. Just GO! And perform a healing ritual while you are there. Call in the Elements. Invite the Goddess and God. Thank them for the many, many blessings they have given to you. Thank them for the challenges they have given you and think of how (at least some of) those challenges have turned into blessings. Be happy and joyful. Smile! And on your way back home, ignore those rude drivers on the highway.

Personal

Growth Perhaps the most important realizat ion that an individual can make in their quest for personal growth is that there is no single formula that defines the path to personal success.

CREATIVE SEEDS CINDY JONES LANTIER Like much of the country – the world, even – I’ve been thinking a lot about mental illness/mental health, clinical depression, and suicide this past month. I’m glad that these topics have recently become easier to talk about, but I’m so sorry that it took losing someone like comedian and actor Robin Williams, to bring these conversations to the forefront. They can be ugly – sometimes brutally painful – topics to talk about. There are lots of reasons that I’ve been almost obsessing over this. As a Personal Empowerment Coach, of course, I’m fascinated by personal growth and human potential issues. And psychology, too. I’m always curious about why something works for one person, but not for the next. As someone with bipolar disorder (type 1, if you’re keeping score), I’m always interested in others with a similar diagnosis or experiences. And finally, as someone who was “this close” to suicide myself, I feel an empathetic connection to those who attempt, or complete, the act of suicide. If you’d have asked me six weeks ago, I’d have told you that all of that was behind me. I’m a different person now, I’d have said. And in so many ways, I really am. Right now, I can’t imagine being in that much pain again. I mean, I can’t even conjure up those feelings. I can describe how I felt, but I can’t go there. (And for that, I’m so grateful). But, a few days after Robin Williams’ death, I found myself a little depressed. Not clinically depressed, but what I call situationally depressed; that is, depressed because of a specific situation. I realized that his death – and all the time I was spending thinking about it and reading about it – was stirring up some old stuff. But I was also a bit confused. After about 25 years of doing a lot of internal work, of psychiatrists and therapists, of personal growth and spiritual evolution, you’d think that old stuff would be a part of the past now. And then I realized (again), that we never get past anything. Not all the way past it. Once we let something into our experience, it’s always there. It never stops having an impact on us. We can work to take control over that impact; we can work to mitigate the potential damage. But once it’s there, it’s there. As I’ve told clients in the past: We continually spiral around our issues. We may be spiraling upwards and away – or, downwards and toward – but we are always in some kind of relationship with our stuff. It’s a dance, really. So, what of this stuff that we can’t get away from? If it does come up, that’s a good indication that there’s more work to be done about it. For me, that means journaling, talking to friends, and sharing my opinions to help educate others. And, it means owning my story. Up until very recently, I didn’t tell my story – not my entire story – and telling our personal stories is the easiest way to share who we are and where we’ve been in life. I didn’t own that certain things have happened to me, because I was afraid about what other people would think. I always thought I was an open person, because I can’t think of a single event in my life that someone else doesn’t know about. But that “someone” is usually limited to my family or best friends. When I found myself a little depressed and a little confused, I decided to cut myself some slack. To be gentle with myself about how I was feeling. I tried to softly self-correct when I heard negative self-thoughts. And, I finally opened up and shared this part of my story. “We’re only as sick as our secrets,” Oprah once said. I believe that. I’ve seen that play out in the lives of some of the people I’ve loved the most. I can’t say there are no more secrets for me – I’m pretty sure there are a few other touchy issues I need to dance with, first slowly and intimately, and later – once I’ve found my

rhythm – more confidently and publicly. I don’t know if Robin Williams had secrets; he was fairly public about his struggles with depression, and alcohol and cocaine abuse. But I do know that secrets lead to shame, and that shame feeds depression. We all need to stand a little taller today, and own our stories. Our entire story. That doesn’t mean that you need to post a personal inventory on Facebook (don’t get me started on people who “over share!”). But if you see someone who is in pain, confused, or just having a rough time, and you can relate because of personal experience, swallow your pride and share that story. Let the person know that they are not alone, and that there can be life – happiness, even – on the other side of whatever is happening to them. It may help them; it will definitely help you.

RENEE'S THOUGHTS WORTH CATCHING Trust Is A Must

I will not bore you with words For some, there is a Life that starts in absolute chaos where conditioning and upbringing has set that are to reside the past the pace for fear, worry, and unrest. This Life, if left on this path and cycle, will remain stuck and I'd rather bring the light forward motionless. At the hand of the one who is supposed to love and nurture winds up being the worst to show you how Life changes fast thing for you and there is no other choice than to put away pieces of you for safekeeping. The glue that will attach all of these feelings and thoughts back together? Renee Avard I know that 100% trust in someone or something else is virtually impossible, but, Trust placed inward is. You are the most important person in your life and you know yourself best. You do not have to seek out the trust you need, as much as you need to just reflect on your own heart and soul. Someone does not need to fulfill the duty of being who you need them to be when you can be that person now. Why is the ‘Red tent’ such a phenomenon?

Every cycling woman knows the deep yearning for quietude during her Flow time. Every ounce of our body and soul calls for rest, while our culture calls us to keep going, no matter what.

The ‘Red Tent,’ ‘Moon Hut,’ or ‘Moon Lodge,’

as they were known in indigenous cultures around the world, was a place of respite for women of old. We recognize that having a place to go to when we flow, monthly, will make our lives different in profound ways, as well as change the lives of those around us, and ultimately the world! Does your Soul remember the circles of Maidens, Mothers, Grandmothers, and Ancestors? This is a place where women are allowed to Be rather than continually Do… The time is Now, and the Red Tent Consciousness is spreading like sunrise all over the world! Spiritual Ecology

“Mystical experience of nature can be of particular relevance to our troubled age, bringing deeper into our consciousness and emotions the logic that nature sustains humanity as humanity must, in turn, sustain nature. Rationality alone, however, cannot be our guide in the task of restoring our environment. A spiritual connection to nature must inspire the emotional commitment that is the yin, complementing the yang of intellectual understanding. -Carl von Essen

THE TWELVE SENSES IN THE WORLD OF NATURE

Silence stillness immensity forest stretching endlessly snow covered, quietly breathing its tremendous, wide, conifer expanse And the sough of wind rising and falling Most beings here , plant or animal, are melded into this spacious and soul-purifying landscape As is the human But the human is also, at least in part, separate from the land. And human nature can discern, by way of the 12 senses, aspects and nuances of the natural world through these 12 portals.

The snow sifts down into the forest, falling windless and so light as to seem almost weightless, afloat in place. A deep silence holds sway, an ocean of stillness that invites entry. And there is space enough here for any size contemplation.

the landscape. Distractions are reduced sound is muffled and visibility is confined to a radius of a few feet (of course it goes without saying that one has to exercise care, bring a compass and be good at orienteering, or you can end up in oblivion!)

In the northern, boreal realm, across this endless range of semi-homogenous evergreen forest radiating its steadfast and grounded, robust energy - across the conifer deep - here and there, an accent counters the etheric expanse with an astral focus, an animal being raven, jay, squirrel-hunting marten, wolf, moose, or chickadee.

Overall, the Spirit of the boreal forest - the heart of the boreal forest landscape, like the heart of one of its trees, one senses, is golden, intricate, warm despite the climate, perhaps because of the climate, to counterpoint the cold.

Tracks in the snow tell the stories. A snowshoe hare nips birch tips from a fallen tree. A luxuriously furred marten pursues a red squirrel. Unless the squirrel quickly makes it to one of its underground dens it will become the marten’s meal. Sometime in the night the wolf came near. It came to investigate who was howling in the evening, howling like, yet unlike, another wolf (it’s own sense of language revealing that, although the sound of my howl seemed very similar to a wolf’s, there was a subtle difference). It came near enough to discern the scent of human presence, approached as near as it dared, always keeping a periphery of safety as it circuited the area of the cabin.

In sharing this encounter with nature through the twelve senses, I will begin with the outermost, least penetrating sense and proceed to the deepest-registering sense (please note that the following presumes a basic understanding of the 12 senses. If the reader wishes to prime him/herself on this subject, use the links under “Further Resources” at the end of the article. Alternatively, information is readily available by entering an internet search via “12 senses” - and adding “Rudolf Steiner” can be helpful): Touch.

Caterpillars, Butterflies, Moths and Sacred Transition

When we as seekers of sacred truths look at the patterns of Nature, old memories are stirred; understanding comes at a gut level. Myself, a seeker of Knowledge, Truth and Beauty or the Bohemian ideal, I have found over long observation that the life cycles of Butterflies and Moths can be very enlightening in terms of its ability to teach us that transformation is part of the natural cycle of this living Earth and all of its inhabitants, it is sacred as it allows us a glimpse in to the Great Mystery. It may is helpful to think of the Human Fetus and its transformation and subsequent emergence as a metaphor of the transition of the Caterpillar into Moth or Butterfly. I attempt to show these animals in a way that allows the viewer to see for themselves that these things can be great teaching tools for both Adults and Children, exposing them to the cycle of this Earth, its heartbeat and Beauty, diversity and wonder. I suggest a trip to Milwaukee's Public Museum world class Butterfly Habitat. Children often have great and irrational fear of insects, wide open spaces and the elements, sadly often as result of parental conditioning. Left alone, children usually exhibit no fear among new stimuli especially nature and animals. Too many children are divorced from this cycle unable to witness and judge for themselves what I and many others included one John Muir have found knowledge, deep wisdom and solace from. Please enjoy these images and encourage your children to explore, feel, touch, taste and smell the Nature around them, it creates magnificent neural pathways in the young brain. Besides, Butterflies and Moths are just plain lovely to watch and see. In this Photography feature, you will see a smattering of the diversity found in Wisconsin, mainly it's State Natural Areas, State Wildlife Production Areas, and it's bountiful State and National Parks.

When I go on my yearly "Hunt" for these ephemeral Animals, it is usually late summer, typically the 1st week of August through September, when the wildflower Prairies of the Mid-West and my stomping grounds, Wisconsin, are at their peak. You will see many types of Flowering plants. Boneset, which is a favorite and essential plant for the survival of the Monarch Butterfly, always draws other Moths and Butterflies. The great variety of Goldenrod is not just astonishing to look upon when one finds a field awash in it, it is also an essential nectar source supporting a host of essential animals including the Honeybee. There is Aster, Compass Plant, Woodland Sunflower, Joe-Pye Weed, Queen of the Prairie, Purple and Prairie Coneflower, just a vast amount of nectar sources during a time of frenetic insect activity particularly Butterflies and Moths. Two of my personal favorites to look for, watch and Photograph are actually Moths, the two I speak of are the White Lined Sphinx (Hyles lineata) and Humming Bird Moths (Hymaris thysbe). They both have a habit of making a circuit, or pattern around the plants they prefer to gather Nectar from and pollinate. I have watched Humming Bird Moths do figure eights (the infinity symbol) around two wild bergamot searching each tiny blossom for food, and then repeat the process in reverse upon the next two. Sphinx Moths are big, and you can hear and feel their wing beats, they will also brush against you when you are calmly sitting watching them.

The Animals you will see in the following pictures are all at risk from habitat loss, there is a great variety of environments these pollinators and beautiful creatures thrive in that development is turning into pavement, allowing a tithe for habitat as in the case of Milwaukee's Monarch Trail that has lost nearly 90% of its habitat to development and yet a mere handful of the people that understand the cultural, scientific and Sacred nature of the Monarch migration stood firm and saved what was needed. The people in the region surrounding Mexico's Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve, a World heritage site, near the village of Anguangeo see the return of the Monarch butterfly coinciding with El Dia de los Muertos as the incarnation of relatives past. Thereby retaining the sacred link to the past and the future. I encourage you all to reach out to any local effort to restore habitat of any kind, as these creatures depend on them all, as do we.

I have always viewed photography and Art as a tool used to unravel the forgotten knowledge of our ancestors, a way to express the constant yearning amongst most of us for knowledge and understanding of the natural world, its peace, wonders and inherit divinity."

A Means to Achieve A Sustainable Growth Path

Isn't it time that we rediscovered how to operate through a balance of both masculine and feminine principles? The Feminine is the crucial missing link in our derailing world, and this campaign is for Her. TreeSisters goes where no other campaign has gone before: into the exploration of how the negation of the feminine principle is a primary cause of climate change, and how its reinstatement is crucial for our survival. Women's wisdom, gifts, creativity and courage are needed now more than ever, and this campaign is an overt attempt to elicit and tap them on behalf of the natural world, and our children who are to inherit.

Guidelines for Raising Chickens In Your Backyard The concept of an organic chicken is still in the gray areas even now as the certain conditions that are required for organically starting a chicken farm could be varied and sometimes conflicting from one farm to another. So what really is the meaning of "organic" in the whole context of organic chicken farming? A very safe and established definition for an organic chicken would be a chicken freely raised in a cage-free environment, wholly dependent of natural and chemical-free organic feeds all their lives. They are free, and lead stress-free lives by roaming around much of the day, eating insects and worms. The underlying philosophy behind this is to provide a healthy alternative for that run-of-the mill and bland supermarket chicken, packed with synthetic stuffs. If you consider starting a chicken farm whether on your backyard or on a grander scale, you should look into the prospect of starting an organic chicken farm. Consumers are steadily leaning towards acquiring a taste for the healthier alternatives and the demand for organic chicken is in the upswing because of this. You could be in the forefront of an exciting wave of in-demand consumer products about to sweep the market in the near future. Here are some guidelines for raising organic chicken in your own backyard: Start organically Bear in mind that you must be organic all the way in starting a chicken farm from start to finish. You must procure chicks and eggs for hatching from purely organic chicken sources. You should also follow strict organic practices from the day the chicks were hatched, to the process of egg laying and production, to the death chambers where chickens are killed in the most humane way as possible, fast and clean.

Healthy and clean living In starting a chicken farm organically, the chicken should approximate the natural living conditions of a free roaming animal as much as possible. Chickens should be free to enjoy healthy lives, with plenty of exercise outdoors, freely accessing natural amenities such as sunshine and shade, fresh air, eating bugs and worms and continuous supply of fresh clean water. Confinement in holding places should be minimal as you would be obliged to seek guidance from a certifying agency regarding the time allotment for confining organic chicken. Any type of medication and antibiotics is definitely not allowed. However, if the chicken does get sick, you are required to have it treated with medicine. You just don't have to sell it as an organic chicken anymore as a consequence.

VIRGIN 7:20 ~minute film by ex•tinc•tion wit•ness VIRGIN documents healing ceremonies in redwood forests of California, using poetry and song to convey a message of compassion for the perpetrator and victim in all of us. To virgin is to proclaim the greatest human traits. For this film, virgin is used in the original sense: “Virgin was a label of strength and independence by being used to describe the goddesses who were immune to the temptations of Dionysus, Greek god of seduction and wine. Virginity was once a term of power.” ~Palo Alto Medical Foundation I chose the title VIRGIN during my own healing process from early childhood incest, as I discovered physical, spiritual, and emotional boundaries I had not known were my to claim just as I reconsidered how we use virgin as a term for intact, old growth forest.

MOUNTAIN ROSE HERBS

GROWING & HEALING WITH

MEDICINAL HERBS

Growing medicinal herbs is becoming more popular amongst many families and cultures of today. With the increased awareness of the benefits of herbs many are opting to use medicinal herbs as an alternative to modern pharmaceutical medications. Historically, medicinal herbs were used as the only means of treating and healing. In addition to this, herbs were valued for their benefits in such that many cultures used them as a form of currency, clothing, food and shelter. Medicinally, herbs are used to treat a number of ailments such as in the treatment of athletes feet, fungi, bad breath, menstrual discomfort, headaches, stomach aches, some cancers, ulcers, skin disorders, hair loss, infertility, menopause, depression, cuts, abrasions, colds, diarrhea, constipation, high blood pressure, insomnia, etc. Medicinal herbs are organically cultivated on the planet earth, but you too can cultivate these herbs in your very own garden, indoors or out. Some herbs like mint and basil should always be grown in pots because they have a tendency to grow wild and all over the place, literally. The following is a list of medicinal herbs that are also interchangeable and can be used for culinary purposes as well. These herbs are, mint, dandelion, lavender, thyme, oregano, chamomile, catnip, nettle, rosemary, wormwood, basil, jasmine, ginkgo biloba, fennel, garlic, clover, coneflower-Echinacea, ginseng and so on. A general rule of thumb to remember when caring for medicinal herbs is rather simple. You first want to be familiar with the plants that you are growing as this should ultimately determine how you cultivate your plant. For instance, dandelion should be allotted plenty of space in a container or yard to grow comfortably because its roots system requires it. The roots of this plant need plenty of room to grow properly and to its fullest potential as this is the part of the plant that is traditionally used for medicinal purposes. My advice is to always know what type of soil, the amount of water, sunlight, space and food your plant requires to thrive and flourish at its best. After your herbs have matured you may want to share them with friends or family. With this in mind, know that you have options to accomplish this. Your plants can be used and broken down in many different forms. In my opinion, fresh herbs are always best and more potent than any other form it can be utilized in. These forms include tinctures, extracts, poultices, sits baths, syrups, juices, teas, salves, aromatherapy oils, vapor treatments, capsules, lozenges, ointments, etc. So, as you can see, growing medicinal herbs and having them readily available in the event they are needed is a true asset to ones home and family life. Herbs are food from the earth and cultivating your very own fresh medicinal herbs will provide you and your loved ones with some of the best gifts that mother-nature has to offer.

MELT AWAY STRESS

EMOTIONS AND STRESS IN TRADITIONAL CHINESE ACUPUNCTURE

Modern day living is stressful. Financial problems, workplace stresses, relationships, commuting - even reading the daily news brings stress. But stress is not a modern phenomenon. The ancient Chinese no doubt had their fair share of problems. They too would have been affected by food shortages, money, work problems, marital disharmony and sickness. Stress is a part of life. Stress causes many problems apart from a constant feeling of anxiety, uncertainty and worry. If it is severe, it can lead to insomnia, loss of appetite, overeating, digestive problems, headaches and gynaecological problems. In relationships it can lead to more arguments with family members. It can lead to self-destructive behaviour like over-drinking, smoking too much, drugs or general irritability towards others. Or it can turn inwards leading to depression.

life forward again. However, everything should be in moderation. It is when an emotion is overly experienced, that it can lead to disease. If we are too sad for a period of years it can actually hinder us and stop us from moving on. If we are too angry for too long, the anger starts to lash out against others or worse turns inwards into depression or self loathing.

According to the UK Office of National Statistics, a report by the Health and Safety Executive issued in 2013, stress was listed as a prevalent factor in 428,000 cases of work related illnesses causing a loss of 10.4 million days in 2011/12. Cases were particularly high among nursing and teaching professionals. But with the economic problems in recent years, financial stress has become a prevalent problem for everyone.

The emotions related to stress are typically anger and irritation (Liver), worry (spleen), depression (Liver and Spleen) and to a lesser degree - fear (kidney) and sadness (lung). In this way stress has the potential to affect the entire body system in Chinese medicine and it is up to the trained acupuncturist to decide which system is most affected and which emotion is most prominent and treat accordingly. However, by far the most active organ in stress is the Liver.

In traditional Chinese medicine, the emotions are seen as a cause of disease and are a key factor in stress. Stress causes an overexpression of the emotions in the human body which can impact the body negatively.

In Chinese theory, the various organs of the body correspond to various emotions. For example, the heart relates to joy, the lung relates to sadness or grief, the kidney relates to fear, the liver relates to anger and the spleen relates to pensiveness or worry. If the human body is exposed to a particular emotion excessively it can lead to an overstimulation of the related organ and ultimately lead to a weakness which can affect the rest of the body and the organs because in the human body everything is inter-related.

The ancient Chinese liked to use analogies to describe how the body works and one way was to define the organs as members of the government. The Heart being the most important was called the Emperor. The Liver is The five key emotions are joy, sadness, traditionally called the General of the organ pensiveness or worry, anger and fear. Emotions system. And if you imagine the General of the are a part of healthy human life and the armed forces, you can imagine a very strong expression of them can be beneficial. It may well bully all the ministers and advisors to stop their duties and bend their will to his own. At worse he may well plan a coup against the Emperor and take over the empire with a brutal dictatorship. This is an analogy, but metaphorically this is exactly what happens in the human body.

As well as acupuncture treatment, there are various ways to calm yourself down. One way to calm or quieten the General is to strengthen the Emperor. Give him more power - the General has to obey. Meditation strengthens the Heart. In this way mediation can be a potent way particularly if you meditate on the heart chakra energy field (right between the breast area).

Acupuncture also helps put the body into a relaxed state allowing you the freedom to reflect more wisely on the stressful situation and allow you to deal with it on a more constructive level. People who have regular acupuncture treatment can find that their emotions start to become more stable and they find it easier to deal with stresses.

Creative Soul Poetry marriage.

This is where my spiritual journey began. In 1997, I read a book called, The Road Less Traveled by M. Scott Peck. From this book forward I read every philosophical book I could get my hands on: a journey towards selfdiscovery.

For The Love of Self As a child, I was very observant, shy, sensitive and always felt that I was different from others: even as a child, I was very spiritual. Growing up when I wanted to be alone, I always ended up in the woods reflecting and embracing nature. Being around the ocean, woods, trees, flowers and the sky - I felt a sense of peace. Back then, I never thought too much about it or thought to put a label on something; as children we simply embrace and not judge. I always treated others with love and kindness, but when someone hurt my feelings, it was like the world ended. I had reached a point where I truly believed that something was wrong with me. I thought I was weak and had no sense of courage. I would give into things because I didn’t want to disappoint others; I would go against my own feelings to appease everyone else. As adults, we know this is a form of the disease to please, but as a child we didn’t know any better. Doing this overtime, it became second nature and a habit that became an addiction. At the age of eighteen, I was pregnant and got married. I was in a very abusive marriage which led me to, once again, appease someone else: my abuser. At twenty-two years old, I was a mother of three and a wife of a raging alcoholic. After ten years, I left that abusive

Then in 2001, I hit a bottom low. After the birth of my son in 1999, I became depressed. I started to experience physical pain and was tested for lupus, Fibromyalgia, Rheumatoid Arthritis and MS. Doctors couldn’t find anything wrong and I was diagnosed with having clinical depression. I was on anti-depressants and anxiety medication. I disliked the way it made me feel, so I went off everything and started to search within once again. Through my own self healing, I discovered that I am an Empath. I ended up back on a spiritual self-discovery journey and started to think outside the box. I read an endless amount of information about different spiritual paths and jumped into creativity. Self-healing became a daily ritual in my life and one I cannot live without. As an Empath, I had to learn that it is ok to take a step back from the outside world, to go within and nurture oneself. Today, I make it a point to honor my own sacred space and embrace time alone. When I shared my story with others, I was told by quite a few people that I was having a spiritual detox. My battle with depression, physical pain and life experiences has led me to where I am today. This spiritual journey that I have been on has helped me to walk the path that I was put on this earth to do: to be an energy healer and life coach. This journey that I have endured has led me towards my true path in life: to help and heal others, to care and love all people. But most of all, it has showed me the way to love myself.

Sacred Relationships The alchemy of two souls, united in divine love, is a vessel of love, an alchemical crucible for our souls’ greatest unfolding. Sacred sexual relationship offers the possibility to remember the majesty of our souls, igniting the holy fires of eros, burning through lifetimes of karma and all the old wounds that cause the drama, melting them in the embrace of our love. When a man and a woman come together in love and they both have a direct relationship to the divine, miracles can happen. In sacred relationship, we acknowledge it as the primary container for soul growth and realize that our tantric sexual exploration will bring up our deepest wounds and that healing is in learning to hold each other in love even when the shadow is arising to be seen, to be felt, to be freed. We are required to be like an eagle flying above the relationship sometimes, seeing the wider perspective of the soul’s journey and not taking the small stuff personally. TANTRIC RELATIONSHIP, A DIVINE UNION OF SACRED PARTNERSHIP (C) 2009 VALERY SATTERWHITE "Sharing the Divine Union with a partner can be as easy as energy flowing on the path of least resistance, and it is immensely entertaining. But make no mistake, it can also be the hardest thing you ever had to face! It all depends on who the lovers are, and what consciousness and intention each brings to the moment of Divine Union". (Institute of Ecstatic Living). A Tantric relationship is one where there is a divine union and perfect balance of the masculine and feminine energies within your self and with your partner. Energy is represented by the female divine power, Shakti and Consciousness is represented by the male divine power, Shiva. The dance between Shiva and Shakti never ends, there is a constant flowing of this energy from one to the other, a giving and a receiving of this energy. In the ancient myth of India, the marriage of Shiva and Shakti is considered to be Divine Union, a fundamental concept of Tantra. As individuals each of us possess innate male and female aspects. These are manifested and expressed in various ways throughout our lives. Sometimes the man is receptive and feeling, at other times strong and directive. Sometimes the woman is assertive and directive, at other times soft and yielding. Tantric teachings embrace the concept that everyone has an intrinsic potential, realizable through the experience of Tantric practices. In Eastern religious thought, Tantra is a pathway to spiritual attainment. In the Western mind, we can consider it a doorway to achieving our ultimate potential-a joyful life, sharing love, celebrating everything. The Divine Union is a powerful tool to help us get there. (Lokita Carter) When you are in a Tantric relationship practicing giving and receiving pleasure, and honoring each other as the god and goddess incarnate awakens you to profound learning. You enter into a mythic dimension that allows you to fly freely as your divine nature. You are infused with ever more consciousness, playfulness and any stagnant energy that existed between you and your partner in a long-term committed relationship are cleared away. Such are the practices and benefits of Tantra. A Tantric relationship is one that moves with the energy of each person within the relationship. That may even include children as the flow of energy between you and your partner will also affect how you relate with your children. As you and your beloved become more attuned to each other's flow of energy you will also be able to tune into the energy flow of your children. This dance of male and female energies is always occurring in every relationship that you have. Understanding this as a basic principle can shift how you respond to any interaction with any individual. With conscious intention use your relationship as a laboratory to practice in learning new ways of communicating, creating sacred space, exploring the interplay of your male and female sides and sharing more about yourself and learning more about your partner. (Lokita Carter) You and your beloved will be more inspired by playing together in this deeply felt container of energy that you have created. Embracing a Tantric relationship will offer you riches beyond compare. Your relationship with your self, your partner, your friends and your family will be expanded and enriched by it. Your life will become a sacred partnership with all things.

Sacred Sex, Body Freedom In sacred sex, you honor your body as a temple for your spirit and offer it as a gift to your lover. As a couple, you can extend the passion and satisfaction of your sexual life by evolving your regular sex into sacred sex. Although most couples want a really good sex life, many are afraid that it’s unattainable because they personally don’t know how to create it. They bury their sexual dreams under the weight of misinformation that says “sex is something you should just naturally know how to do because you’re in a body.” However, even though your body desires and has the potential for sublime sex, it doesn’t automatically know the artistry of lovemaking. You must teach the body. Like any great art, the art of sexual ecstasy must be learned. Sexual knowledge and skill develop over a lifetime. If you travel through your sexual life in a learning mode, then your sexual experience will continue to improve over the years. It will grow with you as you grow. Sexual knowledge and skill develop over a lifetime Transforming Your Sexuality As a couple, you can extend the passion and satisfaction of your sexual life by evolving your regular sex into sacred sex. For thousands of years, and in a variety of cultures, sacred sex practices have affirmed the core message that sex is good, namely, an integral part of life connecting you to yourself, to your partner, and to the divine. Sacred sex shifts sex’s focus from achieving orgasm to union and pleasure. Lovemaking is expanded beyond the common understanding of sex as intercourse to include all manner of intimate contact. Sacred sex is a practical way to balance the purely physiological differences between men and women.

Women gain the time their bodies need to be thoroughly aroused and totally satisfied in addition to receiving the affection and emotional connection they want. Men receive lots of explicit sexual activity, but, because intercourse is interspersed with other forms of sensual play, they are able to last long enough for their lovers’ gratification. Both partners experience greater pleasure and intimacy. Experience all your senses, Always. In sacred sex, you honor your body as a temple for your spirit and offer it as a gift to your lover. This approach sanctifies your body, asserting its beauty and magnificence. Shame and guilt disappear as you move beyond repression and give yourself permission to experience all your senses every moment. TANTRA SACRED SPIRITUAL SEX Sacred sex goes far beyond the bedroom, helping partners open fully to each other in trust and love through all facets of their relationship. In both Taoist (China) and Tantric (India) traditions there are two opposite yet complementary forces at play in the universe, what the Taoists call Yin and Yang. Sacred sex goes far beyond the bedroom, helping partners open fully to each other in trust and love through all facets of their relationship. Your relationship itself becomes a vehicle for spiritual growth and personal awareness. As you learn to open to yourself, to your own inner lover, you naturally open to others around you. You begin to understand that surrender does not mean submission or loss of self, but rather a loving expansion to something that is much greater than you are. Like most spiritual paths, sacred sex teaches a discipline of the mind and body. It does so in a context of celebration and letting go into the sensual aspects of living, so that sacred sex is a paradoxical combination of mastery and spontaneity. As a celebration of life, sacred sex teaches the importance of conscious awareness, of being totally “in” your actions. By focusing attention on your body and your mind, and what you’re doing with them, you become all around healthier. Your emotions become more stable and more real. Your mental capacity increases and your physical health improves as you discover that your body is indeed the temple of your soul. Balancing Feminine (Yin) and Masculine (Yang) In both Taoist (China) and Tantric (India) traditions there are two opposite yet complementary forces at play in the universe, what the Taoists call Yin and Yang. Yin represents the feminine: cool, receptive, moist, and nourishing. Yang represents the masculine: active, dry, and fiery. Women are mostly yin, men are mostly yang—what popular author John Grey calls Venus and Mars—but within each woman there is some masculine energy and within each man some feminine. Carl Jung called these forces animus and anima. In Tantric lovemaking, you share and thus strengthen and balance your masculine and feminine energies. The YabYum posture, is an extraordinarily effective, and pleasurable, position for exchanging and balancing sexual energy with your loverArticle Search, as is the Lovers’ Scissors.
