The Board members put in countless hours trying to prepare for these events. The Booster Club would not be able to have such successful tournaments without the help of so many in the community. A BIG thank you goes out to anyone that helped out in the concession stand, took tickets at the gate, refereed a game, ran a clock, and the awesome custodial staff.

Also, to Culver’s of Clear Lake, who donated all the hot dogs and buns for both events; thanks Darren. People do not realize what a vital role each and every one of you are to run such thriving tournaments. My hat goes off to all of you that helped in any way. All proceeds from each tournament go to all Clear Lake youth.

Netzel awarded Eagle Scout badge MONROE, Wis. — Kyle Netzel, son of Dr. Michael A. and Jacqueline StaudtNetzel, of Monroe, Wis., has completed the necessary challenges in order to be awarded the Eagle Scout Badge of Honor, of the Boy Scouts of America.

Kyle is a member of Troop 101 of the Blackhawk Council of Rockford, Ill. His project, which was for the benefit of the Green County Humane Society, included a sign, picnic table and a park bench for in front of the Humane Society in Monroe. To fund the project, Kyle wrote and obtained a grant from the DeVita Dialysis Company.

Cyber Defense Competition CEDAR FALLS — A team of University of Northern Iowa computer science students brought home first-and secondplace wins at the fifth annual Cyber Defense Competition at Iowa State University, earlier this month.

UNI team six placed second in the competition.

Members of the team include Andrew Blinkmann, of Mason City.

The Cyber Defense Competition challenges teams to maintain and secure a large collection of prescribed computer services while being subjected to various attacks and threats by security professionals.

Raecker completed his undergraduate education at St. Olaf College and will continue his medical residency training in ophthalmology at Oregon Health and Sciences University in Portland, Ore. He is the son of Greg and Rena’ Raecker, of Cedar Falls.
