Amanda Terhark graduated with a M.A. in art education from the University of Northern Iowa, Dec. 19. Her thesis, “Reflective practices, developing sensitivity to voice and personal narratives in the Art Room,” was presented Dec. 1, 2009. Attending were her parents, family members, former teachers, colleagues and friends. As an art educator at the River Bend Middle School and the Rock Run Elementary School in Iowa Falls, Amanda states, she has the responsibility to encourage her students and guide their educational experience while they discover knowledge for themselves. An exhibition featuring some of her art work and those of her art club students, is on display at the James and Merlyn Hearst Center for the Arts in Cedar Falls. During the month of February the art works will be on display at the museum in Iowa Falls. Amanda is the daughter of Maggie and Carroll Terhark, of Mason City.

Groh,Timm CLEAR LAKE — Ruth Timm of Clear Lake and Victor Groh of Thornton were married at 10 a.m. on Oct. 24, 2009, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Clear Lake. Presiding at the ceremony were Father Kenneth Gehling and Father John Tilp. The bride was escorted to the altar by Derek DeBell, grandson. Best man was Barry Groh, son of the groom. Matron of honor was Jean Ostrander, daughter of the bride. Mary Ellen Monson served as organist-pianist and Laura Ostrander as pianist. Vocalists were Mark, Michael, Anna and Laura Ostrander. Following the wedding Mass, a reception was held in St. Patrick’s Church Hall. The couple is at home at 805 N. 13th St., Clear Lake.

Jesse’s grandparents are Don and Pat Stangler of Mason City, and Jeanette Wunderlich of Faribault, Minn. Jesse and Sarah Beth also included honoring their deceased grandparents, Leonard Wunderlich, Anthony Martin, Genevieve Martin, William Koester and Lorraine Koester. Sarah’s allies were Jeannine Kutcher, Laura Martin, Rebecca Poock and Kimberly Witt. Sadie Wunderlich was the bride’s personal attendant. Jesse’s allies were Jason Stone, Timothy Thomsen, William Thomsen and Elias Wunderlich. Josiah Wunderlich was the ring bearer. Ushers were Matthew Poock, Austin Robertson, Daniel Thomsen and Christopher Witt. Readers were the Rev. Charles Koester and Mary Claire Wunderlich. Lyrical dancer was Olivia Koester. Soloists were Elsie Wunderlich and Jayme Sedars. Jesse is employed by Wunderlich Woodworking in Mason City. Following a honeymoon in Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada, the couple is at home in Mason City.

Thank you I want to thank each and every one for the kindness shown to me since the death of my wonderful husband John. For the cards, flowers, gifts, food, hugs and many words of comfort. Happy Birthday Terry Jan. 17, 1956 Aug. 13, 2009 I never thought I’d have to write these words. Fifty-three birthdays we had together... I want 50 more. I’ll never understand what happened although I’ve spent hours trying. I miss the daily phone calls, the conversations about everything from politics to motorcycles. The rides around the lake and down the blacktops. There are so many memories that I cling to. It feels like a part of me left with you. I miss you so much.
