We love football. We love our planet.
Global United Climate Kick 2013 in Namibia In Namibia, they are no longer strangers. And nevertheless the visit of the Global United FC in the southwest part of the African continent is every year one of to the social highlights. For the fourth time since 2010 the „World-Keeper“ Lutz Pfannenstiel toured around in Namibia. The aim of the mission in march: The ďŹ ght against pollution and unconditional commitment to climate change. On their one week long journey a lot of
former professionals saw the capital Windhoek and made a four-day-trip to the Namibian Atlantic coast. How important it is to protect the country - Namibia is twice as large as Germany - is revealed in the stunning drive through the oldest desert in the world, in experiencing the Atlantic Ocean and numerous meetings with young people who raise awareness again for environmental problems. With great success.

The system
The system: Only in recent years the separation of waste is discussed in Namibia. Also the associated benefits for the environment and climate as well as the possible sources of income with recycled materials are often unknown. The Recycling Forum Namibia (RFN) is responsible for the education and implementation of recycling measures. The topic „Waste not, want
not“ clarifies the RFN and creates ways to install facilities on public recycling boxes. Plastic, paper, glass and cans can now be separated. The participating schools also do competitions. The school where the children collect the most waste per head is rewarded with prizes. Another incentive for the children, to deal conscientious with the valuable resources.
Dagbreek School Windhoek
While visiting the Dagbreek School in Windhoek the players of Global United FC experience upclose integration. As one of only two schools in Namibia, handicaped children are educated and prepared for their future, then equipped with much greater opportunities. The students of the Dagbreek School are part of the program RFN, too. Here, the Global United FC had also install recycling boxes. The children of the school are thrilled from the appearance of the „Stars from Germany and Africa“. They proudly present their lovingly tended school and are pleased with spontaneous basketball games and races with the ex-professionals.
Duneside Highschool Walvis Bay Well prepared: Students of Duneside High School looking forward to visiting the famous ex-professionals. Here, in Walvis Bay on the Namibian coastline, the Global United FC takes over the installation of recycling boxes himself. On the stage of the school auditorium Lutz Pfannenstiel and Wolfgang Schenck speak (RFN) about the importance of environmental and climate change and encourage the students to continue on the chosen path.

Protect coastal values: Together with the Nacoma Organization the group of Global Unted FC experienced the beauty of the Namibian coast. During a boat trip they conďŹ dent from the extensive diversity of the Atlantic Ocean. Flamingos, seals, pelicans, dolphins, oysters, mussels - despite an expanding port the numbof species is impressive. A condition to be maintained.
Climate Kick 2013 Jan-Willken-Stadion, Walvis Bay Sporting highlight: The Climate Kick 2013 in the Jan-Wilken-Stadium in Walvis Bay show, that the former professionals still can play football very well. Against a Coastal-Team (included members of the legendary „Class of 98“ of the Namibian national team) in front of several hund-
red spectators the fans saw a 7:3 victory for the Global United FC (Sean Dundee (3), Olaf Marschall, Silvio Meissner, Michel Dinzey and Macbeth Sibaya). Of course, the message „Waste not, want not“ was transported and transferred to the mostly young fans in the Jan-Wilken-Stadium, too.
Help in Katutura Windhoek
In Katutura, the township of Windhoek, the Global United FC visit an orphanage and a soup kitchen. Founder Lutz Pfannenstiel handed clothing and food, and promises, to return as soon as possible.

„We must go on the chosen path. For example, it takes about 700 years before plastic is decomposed into its component parts. By getting supported by the Global United FC we have taken again a big step forward.“
LOCAL VALUE ADDED Transfer of 10 recycling containers at schools in Windhoek and at the Namibian coast. • Enlightenment and reaching 10,500 students in Namibia. • Extension of cooperation with schools already 41 existing recycling containers (collective result 2012/2013: € 32,000) • A total of 40,000 Namibian students were elucidated and reached on the principles of recycling. • Donation of sports equipment, children‘s clothing, school supplies and food in the amount of 5,000 euros. This money has benefited to the Dagbreek School football junior sections on the coast as well as an orphanage in Windhoek. • Beach Clean up event with 250 participants and investigation of a total of 2,500 students.
