La nueva tecnología, llamada "FreeStyle Libre" -del grupo farmacéutico y de laboratorios médicos Abbottpermite al paciente monitorear en un segundo la glucosa en la sangre a través de un parche. El dispositivo tiene un sensor pequeño y redondo que se coloca en la parte posterior del brazo y dura 14 días.
El concurso ‘Soluciones para el Futuro’ concluyó con más de 3.400 proyectos de escuelas públicas en toda América Latina. Esta iniciativa de Samsung, apoyada por el Programa Ondas de Colciencias, motiva a los profesores y alumnos de la red pública a que plasmen ideas para solucionar problemas reales en sus comunidades, en torno a temas de agua, salud y agricultura, a partir de conceptos de las ciencias naturales y las matemáticas. La más reciente edición se llevó a cabo en Brasil, Argentina (en conjunto con Uruguay y Paraguay), Chile, Perú, Colombia y México.
