The stock market will have extreme highs and lows and weather will continue to be a powerful threat. expect the discovery of scientific, medical, educational and technological breakthroughs. Sustainable products will be developed to slow down global warming. The structure of the government will be changed from top to bottom. The planet of uranus is associated with revolutions, freedom and independence. The people of America will stand up for their rights and demand to be heard.

pluto has been taking away that which wasn’t working to create something new in things such as business, partnerships, or personal relationships. Try not to hold back, because this planet also teaches everybody how resourceful they can be. There will be cause for celebration as the arts, theater, spiritual insights and holistic techniques will be recognized and supported.

America has always had a winning spirit; the financial challenges will still be huge since as a country, we have clearly been brought to our knees. however I predict we will prevail and become increasingly stronger; we’ve come so close to the edge yet we are not about to give up on our country. We are at the end of an era, but not at the end of us. So clean out your closets, finish projects, say goodbye to the past and welcome this new time, overflowing with unusual opportunities to finally begin again.

A NEW YEAR, A NEW CHALLENGE

2013! It’s the beginning of a new year, so I decided to do something I had never thought of doing during my lifetime. I was going to run in the Disney Marathon. out of my comfort zone, running long distances had never been on my list of fun things to do, but after a few bumps in the road, I am truly enjoying the challenge.

With the Disney Marathon set on Sunday, January 13th in orlando and me making my decision to run in october, I didn’t leave myself a lot of time to train. Three months to be exact. up until that time, I would run 3-4 miles once or twice a week. That’s it. I spend the majority of my time at the gym doing strength training with alternating cardio and the thought of running 26.2 miles, at one time, was absurd. My husband, who prefers running and has several marathons under his belt, will be joining me on my quest.

So how did I begin? I first had to change my way of training since I thought that I had to run the entire 26.2 miles. Fortunately for me, or unfortunately for my husband, he was nursing a calf injury which caused him to change the way he would train for this marathon. We began by mapping out scenic routes, remember we live in Florida, and power walk 6.5 miles to the ocean, had a bite to eat, then 6.5 miles back. If you just did the math that equals 13 miles which is a half marathon. The following week we did another 13 miles, still walking, but this time no breaks. In order to keep our time on track, we needed to include some running so changed the training to a 10 mile walk/run. I thought I would die but found my recovery time to be better than I anticipated. once my husbands’ injury healed, it was now time to train on my own. I challenged myself to a 20 mile walk/run. Five hours 15 minutes and four potty breaks later, I did it.

Then came the holidays and with family visiting, I had to take a week off from long walk/runs and stick to 3 mile runs on a treadmill. As soon as the last family member was shuttled to the airport, I got back on track and completed a 12 mile walk/run faster than before, leaving me wiggle room to complete the marathon within the allotted 7 hours.

So with the big event only days away, my excitement is building and so are the butterflies in my stomach. I realize there is always next year but with training complete, a positive attitude, the right running equipment, and support from friends and family, I expect to be among thousands of others proudly wearing medals indicating triumph of a challenge well done. Wish me luck.

born in the Dominican Republic and raised in new york city, Dr. Grillo came from a family of medical and dental professionals.

“I always wanted to be a dentist. I liked dentistry because I was involved with it since I was very young,” he said.

Dr. Grillo started his career in odontology, the study of teeth, their structure and health, in his native land of the Dominican Republic. he studied at the universidad odontologica Dominicana and received his degree of Dental Surgery in 1986. After graduating, he returned to the united States where he continued his dental training at new york university. he completed his residency and fellowship at Woodhull Medical center in brooklyn, n.y., working in an integrated physician-dentist program.

In 1994, Dr. Grillo moved back to the Dominican Republic. There he opened his first practice in Santo Domingo, Grupo odontologico Dr. Grillo. he also did some philanthropic work, starting up a non-profit organization that provided medical and dental care to families who could not afford it.

Dr. Grillo returned to the united States in 1998 and worked for king’s Dental Group, a private practice, in brooklyn, n.y. upon retuning to new york, he received his Mastership from the American Dental Implant Association and a fellowship from the International congress of oral Implantologists.

here’s no guarantee that “teaching to the test” will increase scores or that using a more holistic approach will increase general learning. Substandard scores and learning difficulties are often a reflection of problems with confidence, concentration, relaxation, memory, time management, and even nutrition. These aren’t problems that can be resolved in a classroom or by a tutor. but they are problems that can be resolved, and inexpensively, through hypnosis.

During hypnosis, we’re deeply relaxed physically, but we’re mentally many times more alert than in our normal state of awareness. We have complete control over what we will or will not do, and will instantly reject any suggestions that are uncomfortable to us. on the other hand, we’re very receptive to suggestions that we want to accept, including ones that will help us become better lifelong learners.

The more you compliment and encourage yourself, and the less you criticize yourself for mistakes, the more confirmation you create of improvement.

she would have been homeless In January 2005, Ackner walked into LA Weight if she didn’t attend take the offer. Loss in Daytona beach and decided that “this was it, there’s no turning back.” At 354 pounds, In college, the hardships she was steadfast on getting healthy and out of continued where Robbyn was the “dark tunnel” she felt she had been living in an outcast for a multitude of all her life. reasons, including her weight. She was raped and as a result of the rape became pregnant. She made the hard decision to give the child up for adoption. After the birth of the baby, she returned to new Jersey. In 1986, she married a man who years later, she realized she had never loved, but married him because she didn’t have the confidence and self-esteem in herself to think that anyone else would ever want her. At that point, she was close to 400 pounds. She left the marriage after 12 years, knowing she wanted more out of life.

vercoming past trauma is often the hardest obstacle we will ever have to face. For Robbyn Ackner it seemed as though the odds were against her; suffering from family and relationship abuse, obesity and low-self esteem. but with a lot of hard work and positive thinking, Robbyn rose above the negativity and is now focused on becoming an inspiration to those around her.

With the help of a therapist, Robbyn did a lot of work on herself, her thought processes, her mental and emotional attitudes. She was on a path where she thought her life was finally turning around.

In 2001, after losing nearly 100 pounds and believing that she was on the right path, she became involved with a man who turned out to be extremely physically, emotionally and verbally abusive. Due to the stress and strain, she gained back all of the weight she had lost before meeting him, and even more.

her triumphant journey began in her birthplace of new york. childhood wasn’t easy for Robbyn. Throughout school, she was constantly bullied about her weight and her home life was turbulent and non-supportive. her parents divorced when she was 16 and her mother re-married. her father abandoned his responsibilities, leaving her with a step-father who was verbally and emotionally abusive, and made repeated attempts to molest her.

At 17 and to a point where Robbyn felt she could stand no more of the abuse and dreading another year of school along with the subsequent torment, she was convinced suicide was the answer. After her failed attempt and release from the hospital she was abandoned by both of her parents and sent to live in a group home in new Jersey. While in the group home she took her GeD and after scoring well, was offered admission to Wilberforce university in ohio. because children age out of foster care at 18,

being obese since childhood, she had searched continuously for that one magic thing that would help her lose weight. however, when it came down to it, she discovered what she needed was right there, inside herself. “It’s all in how you think. When you change the way you think, everything in your life changes,” says Ackner.

Robbyn’s mix of positive thinking, diligence, regular workouts and eating healthy has helped her to shed over 200 pounds and as her physician says, “have the body of an athlete”. She’s also found the love she had always wished for in her wonderful and supportive husband, Richard, who she’s been married to for 4 years.

“I’ve achieved my dream and now it’s my turn to pay it forward and show other people that they can lose weight without having drastic weight loss surgery, quick fixes, magic pills and unhealthy diet plans,” she says. Ackner gives back by speaking about weight loss, domestic violence and changing the way you think. She’s involved with numerous organizations in the community including: The executive Women of the palm beaches, The Domestic Violence Advisory council, yWcA, The Arthur R. Marshall environmental Foundation, The Junior League of the palm beaches where she’s participates with the Girls empowering Mentoring Sessions (GeMS) for girls in the Juvenile Justice System, and Vita nova, a residence for those who’ve aged out of the system. Ackner is writing a book and in 2013, will earn her degree as a life coach. When she is not speaking to a woman’s group, at a wellness conference, or volunteering at one of her favorite charities, she’s willing to help anyone who needs it. She has a program in place to assist others who face challenges in their lives.

After 3 years, Robbyn realized that if she didn’t leave that relationship there would be deadly consequences for her. In August of 2004, with the help of a friend, she left new Jersey for Florida, determined to focus on herself.

“I want to make a difference,” says Robbyn. “I think our world could be a better place and I’d love to be a part of that.”

In the process, we will be raising money to support big Dog Ranch Rescue, a local non-profit no-kill shelter, which is devoted to saving the lives of unwanted pets. They provide a home and care for dogs, of all breeds and sizes, until they are adopted into the right, “furever” home. here’s how I’m planning to recycle my life and make 2013 my best year ever.

Resolution # 1: I will become utterly absorbed in a new and greater reality while still maintaining my availability to participate in happy hours, barbecues, card games and other traditional, old-reality activities. Resolution # 2: I will take the initiative to reach out and call people to keep in touch. I will pick up the phone and call distant family members, past and present friends, and people I went to school with. If no one on my A-list is available, I will dial numbers at random until I connect with someone, somewhere and find out how their week is going and what their weather is like.

Resolution # 3: I will take more pictures and capture more memories in 2013 then I ever have before. Since my previous record for taking pictures in one year is four, the pressure is on to snap off at least one shot per quarter and then squeeze in another one sometime during the holiday season. note to myself: buy a good camera, perhaps a polaroid so I can pull the picture out, shake it while I count to 60, and see the results sooner rather than later.
