In today’s world, it’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking that more is always better especially when it comes to vitamins. With shelves overflowing with supplements promising everything from better energy and glowing skin to immunity and longevity, many of us find ourselves taking handfuls of pills each day, thinking they’re the secret to better health. However, as a Holistic Nutritionist, I can tell you that taking too many vitamins might actually be doing more harm than good. Instead of turning your kitchen counter into a supplement aisle, let’s talk about a better plan: eating real, whole foods and taking only what your body truly needs. W H Y L I G H T E N I N G U P
Food First: The Best Source of Nutrients
Whole foods provide nutrients in their most natural and effective forms, plus they come with fiber, antioxidants, and enzymes that work together to support your overall health. It’s important to focus on nutrient-dense foods like:
Leafy greens (kale, spinach, Swiss chard) – Rich in essential vitamins like A, C, and K. Nuts and seeds (almonds, chia, flaxseeds, walnuts) – Small but mighty sources of healthy fats, magnesium, and zinc.
Fatty fish (salmon, sardines, mackerel) – Great for brain health, glowing skin, and omega-3s
Legumes (lentils, chickpeas, black beans) – A powerhouse of protein, iron, and fiber.
Protein-rich foods (eggs, chicken, lean beef) – Crucial for muscle growth, repair, and immune function.
When you fuel your body with real, whole foods, you're naturally getting the vitamins and minerals you need without the risks of oversupplementation However, it’s important to remember that not all foods are suitable for everyone. For example, if you have SIBO or IBS, legumes and fermented foods might worsen symptoms. If you have kidney issues, you may need to limit leafy greens. And if you have gallbladder problems or find fats hard to digest, nuts and seeds may not be the best
choice. That’s why working with a professional is so important it can help assess your unique needs and find the right balance of nutrients for your health.
We all know that limiting or eliminating sweets, fried foods, artificial ingredients, alcohol, and processed foods and replacing them with whole grains, fresh produce and lean proteins is the first and most important step towards better overall health. It’s difficult to do, there’s no denying that, but unfortunately you can’t out-supplement an unhealthy diet.
The Dangers of Overdoing it on Suppliments
Here’s the thing: more vitamins don’t always mean better health In fact, taking too many can actually cause problems, like:
Too much vitamin A – Can lead to liver damage and bone loss
Excess iron – If you’re not deficient, it can increase oxidative stress and the risk of heart disease
High doses of fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, and K) –These can build up in the body and lead to toxicity. Too much vitamin C or zinc – Can upset digestion and interfere with the absorption of other minerals.
I’m not trying to scare you, but I often see clients come to me with a long list of supplements they’re taking sometimes with duplicate nutrients, which can lead to excessive amounts, or with ingredients that contradict the medications they’re on or the health concerns they’re seeking help for. Always do your research to make sure the supplements you're taking are right for you. So, what's the smarter approach? It’s simple: take only what your body truly needs, based on your specific dietary gaps not just a random mix of supplements
Which Supplements Are Worth Considering for Most People?
While a balanced diet should always be the foundation of good health, a few well-chosen supplements can be beneficial. The key is to choose high-quality products that come from trusted brands. Here are a few that I often recommend:
Vitamin D3 – Essential for bone health, immunity, and mood, especially if you don’t get much sun. But did you know that while sunscreen in general blocks vitamin D absorption, many sunscreens also contain toxic ingredients that contribute to the very skin cancer we are trying to avoid by blocking UV rays. It’s something to be aware of, especially if you're using sunscreen regularly. For better health, it’s worth getting some natural sunlight each day or considering a vitamin D supplement if you're not exposed to the sun often
Magnesium – A vital mineral for muscle relaxation, stress relief, and better sleep. Magnesium comes in different forms, so it’s important to pick the right type for your needs. Magnesium oxide or magnesium citrate is great for supporting digestion and helping with constipation, while magnesium glycinate is gentler on the stomach and excellent for relaxation or improving sleep quality.
High-Quality Probiotics – Probiotics are not onesize-fits-all. Different strains offer different benefits, so taking a random probiotic might not help your specific situation. If you're dealing with digestive issues, immune support, or even skin health, it’s important to find the right strain of probiotic for your body
By focusing on mindful nutrition and being intentional with supplements, we can embrace a lighter, more balanced approach to wellness one that helps our bodies thrive naturally

Something'sBurning!WhenLifeFeelsTooMuch
TheIllusionofControl
Picture this: You're juggling work, family, personal responsibilities, and what feels like a thousand unfinished tasks. Your mind races, anxiety builds, and you wonder, "Howdidlifebecomesocomplicated?"
We're living in an era of unprecedented anxiety and pressure Technology promised to simplify our lives, yet we ' ve never been more overwhelmed. Emails flood our inboxes 24/7, social media constantly compares us to impossible standards, and the expectation to be perpetuallyproductivehasbecomeournewnormal
And now we ' re practically living in a war zone, and have beenforoverayear Ifweareoverwhelmedandanxious,it isbecauseweareallexperiencinganormalreactiontoan extremelyabnormalsituation.
What does the Torah have to say about dealing with anxietyandoverwhelm?Let'sdivein!
DirectingtheFlowofLife
As we enter the month of Shevat, nature offers a beautiful metaphor Underground, seeminglydormant, sapbeginsto rise Unseen buds are forming, preparing for Spring This dark, quiet process is not a setback it's essential for new growth
The Mazal (astral sign) for this month is Dli (Aquarius), a woman lifting water from the river with a bucket. On a spiritual level, water is life, the river is flow, the bucket is a vesseltocontainit Withoutapail, thewaterwilloverwhelm us However if we can create a healthy vessel, we can receive G-d's blessings, pouring the water of life into ourselvesandothers
HiddenTreasures
Last week's Torah reading (Bo) revealed a powerful truth: the greatest treasures were unveiled in Aphelah, the deepest darkness When we face our shadows instead of running away from them, G-d can reveal His Divine light: wecreateavesselforblessing.
We've been conditioned to believe that success means constant action We try to control our situation, control others We think we ' ve failed when things don't go accordingtoplan Wegetnervouswhenweseesadnews, a worldview which the media loves to perpetuate; we anticipate more bad things and freak out about how we willsurvive.
This anxious mindset is trauma for the Neshama (Soul), whoalwaysknowsthatHashemisincontrol, andalliswell We can't control anything, nor do we need to In fact the whole concept of free will is so limited that Jewish philosophy teaches that it is essentially limited to the presentmoment.
...contrary to the secular belief that 'seeing is believing', in reality, 'believing is receiving' - when we are confident of a good outcome, knowing that Hashem ALWAYS has our back, the good outcome is inevitable. These are the laws of manifestation.
"RenderUntoCaesarthatwhichisCaesar's!"
Byron Katie says that there are three types of business: My business, your business, and G-d's business When I feel overwhelmed, I ask myself: Whose business am I in? Am I trying to do too much? Does G-d really expect me to be superhuman? Or can I "do my best, and let G-d do the rest"?
We are only human, and we can only do so much. But we can take one small practical step in the direction of our goal. Even if that step is just to breathe, call a friend, smile atsomeone,makealist,haveacupofcoffee-orallofthe above!
BelievingisReceiving!
RabbiBahyaibnPikudain'GateofTrust'saysthatcontrary to the secular belief that 'seeing is believing', in reality, 'believing is receiving' - when we are confident of a good outcome, knowing that Hashem ALWAYS has our back, the good outcome is inevitable These are the laws of manifestation
The truth is, it takes the same energy to believe in a good outcome as in worrying about a bad one, and either way you ' re right! The Lubavitcher Rebbe's 'Think good and it will begood'isn'tjustamantra It'sagamechanger TheArtofSurrender-RadicalAcceptance
Kabbalah offers a transformative perspective on overwhelm. At its core is a profound concept rooted in the word 'leKabel', to receive, to accept: The entire purpose of Creation is to allow us to receive goodness from the Creator and to accept that our circumstances are in His goodhands
The most important decision we make is whether we believe we live in a friendly or a hostile universe” - Albert Einstein
Our anxious minds trick us into believing we must micromanage every aspect of our lives We worry about the past, project fears into the future, and forget that true freedomexistsonlyinthepresent.

How do we reconcile this with 'dark' events we are seeing played out in real life, on the news? By giving that back to G-d It'snotours
There is, however, a difference between submission and surrender. Submission means we think the current is too strong for us, we give up in despair Surrender is letting go usingthegoodbucketwe'vebuilt The'trustbucket'
When tragedy strikes, it would be the height of insensitivity to say, 'Well none of it is important in the larger scale of things, this is all happening for you ' We are human We need time, and a safe space, to process our anguish, our pain, ourhurt, ourloss.

Personal style is a powerful tool of self expression.Yourstylechoicesreflecthowyou view yourself and how others perceive you. When you feel confident in what you wear, it radiatestoeverysingleaspectofyourlife. So just wear what you love and what lights you up! Sounds easy, right? In theory, so much YESSS!!!Inpractice, notsomuch
ThePressureofPerfection
One of the most common themes I consistently see when helping women upgrade their style, is lack of confidence. Don’t get me wrong, most of the women who seekmyguidancearestrongandsuccessful They are experts in their fields, and they're making big moves in their industries and businesses However, there is still something that's holding them back. The missing piece, and the KEY to really becoming their most dynamic future selves is developing their personalstyle.
Inaworldwheretrends, influencers, and societal expectations often define our style, the idea of wearing what we TRULY want can almost feel like an act of rebellion. The pressure to conform to a certain aesthetic, whether it’s the latest fashion or the “appropriate” look for your age, size, or given situationcanbeoverwhelming Andwhenwe do try to embrace a new look outside of our comfort zone, uninvited negative thoughts haveawayofcreepingin.Thoughtslike,“This makesmelookhuge,” “Whatwillpeoplethink if I wear that?” or “She looks amazing, but I could NEVER pull that off!” are just some examples.
Igetit
Forabouttwentyfiveyearsofmy life, I struggled with deep insecurity that impacted my daily life - from the way I dressed to how I saw myself overall Growing upinthelate'90s,atimewhenathin,almost waif-like figure was idealized, certainly didn't make things easier. For years, I was consumed by how others perceived me. The outfitsIchoseweredesignedtoconcealwhat I thought were my body's biggest flaws, ratherthanaccentuatingmybestfeatures
But here’s the truth: you are exceptional. You are instilled with wonderfulG-dgivenpersonalitytraits,beautifulphysicalfeatures,and uniquetalents.Youaremeanttotakeupspaceandmakeanimpact.
Theworldtodaydoesn’tmakeitanyeasier, especially for those of us who live in a tight knit community where expectations to fit into the classic mold are high Standing out may be frowned upon or even considered wildly inappropriate And as a result, we may feel like we have to hide our curves, avoid bold colors or styles, or choose clothes that we don’tlovejusttofitin.
Buthere’sthetruth:youareexceptional. You are instilled with wonderful G-d given personality traits, beautiful physical features, anduniquetalents Youaremeanttotakeup spaceandmakeanimpact
FearofJudgement
One of the biggest barriers to dressing freely and confidently is the fear of what others think. For better or for worse, humans aresocialcreatures, andwecarehowweare perceived The idea of standing out or dressing differently can promote fear of beingjudgedorlookeddownupon
We often create stories in our heads about how others see us, but in reality, those judgmentsarerarelyasharshasweimagine. (And most of the time, not even there at all!) Themajorityofpeoplearetoobusywiththeir lives to waste their precious time scrutinizing what you are wearing And if someone does judge you, their opinion says more about themthanitdoesaboutyou
Dressing confidently isn’t about seeking validation from others; it’s about finding freedom in your own choices. When you let go of the need for approval, you create a powerfulspacetoembraceyourbodyasitis, and yourclothesareanexpressionofthat.

style These feelings can stem from unrealistic beauty standards, comparing ourselves to others, or past experiences that made us feel less-than But body insecurity doesn’t have to control your wardrobe choices It takes a lot of internal work to move past these deeply ingrainedlimitingbeliefs, butit’scertainlynotimpossible.
STRATEGIES
Unique Shape: Every body is body is beautiful. Clothes were not the other way around. The love your body for what it is, as it is right now. Rather than trying to squeeze into totally not for you because your said you need it, find pieces that and make you feel amazing. And to size up. The numbers are are literally made up - each own measurements per size. So focus on the fit, not the size number.
to How You Feel: Instead of certain way in your clothes, focus on you feel. Does that dress make you that top make you feel chic and put you prioritize comfort and fear of how you look will begin to be more focused on how your you, rather than how others
Yourself to Others: Comparison
Social media and advertisements nfluencers and models whose images airbrushed and edited to perfection. those images are not real life. Your unique, beautiful, and worthy of being celebrated. It’s great to find inspiration from others, but don’t base your worth on someone else’s appearance or body type.
Not Others: Wear what you love, not only what’s trending, or what others expect wardrobe should be an extension not a concession to societal be afraid to put on that colorful jewelry, or unique vintage find. yourself, your magic shines radiate authenticity and
Celebrate Every Victory: If stepping outside your comfort zone feels intimidating, start
with baby steps. Try adding a pop of color in your shoes or accessories. Choose that bold pattern you’ve been eyeing instead of falling back to the safe, but boring, black one. Each time you wear something that makes you feel great, take a moment to acknowledge your bravery and the joy it brings. The more you practice embracing your personal style, the easier it becomes.
The Beauty of Confidence: The journey to dressing confidently and letting go of fear of judgment and body insecurities is one of selfdiscovery and empowerment. It’s about shedding the layers of insecurity and stepping into a version of yourself that embraces individuality. In my case, it took me until I was 40 years old to fully embrace and accept my body as it is and to stop caring about what others think. But it’s never too early or too late to let go of everything that’s holding you back and start dressing for yourself to represent your extraordinary personality, beauty, and talents.
When you dress for yourself, not only do you feel more confident, but you also show the world that confidence. Confidence isn’t about perfection; it’s about embracing yourself fully and standing tall in your choices. Clothes have a remarkable ability to boost our self-esteem, shift our mindset and escalate the path to become the best version of our Future Selves. When we dress authentically, we send a message to ourselves and to others that we are worthy of feeling good, no matter our shape or size.
And remember, confidence is contagious. The more you wear what makes you feel great, the more you’ll inspire others to do the same. It’s a ripple effect of self-love, and it starts with you. So, wear that outfit that makes you feel strong, playful, or bold. Don’t let others dictate your worth based on how you look or what you wear. Instead, wear what feels right for you, and celebrate your magic, because, in the end, the most beautiful thing you can wear is the confidence to be yourself.

Freedom is a concept we all yearn for, yet it manifests in different ways throughout our lives. For some, it’s the ability to travel without restrictions; for others, it’s financial independence. But for me, my journey toward freedom has been deeply personal an unraveling of expectations, a release from burdens that were never truly mine to carry, and an embrace of the divine trust embedded in Torahwisdom
I often imagine this process as unzipping a wetsuit, shedding the layers of trauma and life’s weighty experiences, allowing myself the presence of mind to truly become who G-d intendedmetobe.
At times, I have felt overwhelmed not just by responsibilities but by the emotional baggage that accompanies life’s twists and turns. As someone who has navigated the complexities of family, career, and community, I’ve realized that true freedom isn’t about having less to do but aboutshiftinghowwecarrywhatwemust

The Torah teaches that the Jewish people didn’t simply escape Egypt; they were taken out (Yetzias Mitzrayim) There’s a profound lesson in that: sometimes, we need a force beyond ourselves to remind us that we are meant for somethinggreater thatwewerenevermeantto
The Torah’s wisdom reminds us that freedom is not about detachment from duty but about lightening the emotional weight we place upon ourselves... And sometimes, the greatest act of strength is the courage to let go and let G-d. That is true freedom.
be slaves to our past, our pain, or even our own expectations The word Mitzrayim literally means "constraints" a place where one feels trapped, unable to move or see a way out Yetzias Mitzrayim teaches us that we all need guidance to free ourselves from personal blockages. And that freedom began with a simple yet profoundact agroan.Itstartedwithadeeprecognitionof pain, an acknowledgment of suffering, and the willingness toexpressit.
One of the most powerful teachings on this idea comes from Sefer Tehillim (Psalms 55:23), where King David says, “Cast your burden upon Hashem, and He will sustain you” At different moments in my life, I’ve wrestled with this concept I have clung tightly to guilt, resentment, and the illusion of control, believing they were mine alone to bear. But the Torah reminds us that Hashem does not expect us tocarryeverythingonourown.
Afriendoncetoldme,“Wealldeservehappiness”Forsome reason, at that moment, I was finally ready to receive that message I found my voice to groan, to cry out, to acknowledge the weight I had been carrying But recognizing the burden was only the first step I needed to chart a path toward healing and self-actualization, to embracethehappinessandfreedomIsodeeplydeserved.
This lesson became especially clear to me in recent years. Between my work, personal life, and community commitments, I found myself constantly giving yet feeling depleted The more I tried to manage everything, the heavier it became Then, I remembered the Mishkan the portablesanctuarytheIsraelitescarriedthroughthedesert Each tribe had a designated role in transporting its components, yet the Aron Kodesh (Holy Ark) miraculously carried itself (Sotah 35a). The weight was not truly on their shoulders.
I began to reflect: What if some of the burdens I assumed were mine to carry were never truly mine? What if, instead of gripping tightly to every responsibility, I trusted that Hashemwascarryingpartoftheload?
This shift in perspective was liberating. It didn’t mean abdicating responsibility but rather recognizing that I was never meant to do it all alone I started delegating more, trusting others, and allowing myself space to breathe I let go of self-doubt, unrealistic expectations, and the constant need to please everyone And in doing so, I discovered a deeperfreedomthanIhadeverknown
With each moment of pause and reflection, I began to validate myself and the trauma I had experienced. I reacheddeepwithin, speakingtomyinnerchild, reminding her daily that she is loved and cared for It was a rebirth of myspirit
During the final plague in Egypt, Hashem passed over the homes of the Israelites The Hebrew word Pesach literally means "compassion"ThiswordsharesitsrootwithRechem (womb) and Rachamim (mercy). The Exodus was not merely a transition from slavery to freedom it was a rebirth, an act of divine compassion. Through Hashem’s mercy, we emerged from bondage, stepping into a journey ofhealingandconnection.
The Torah’s wisdom reminds us that freedom is not about detachment from duty but about lightening the emotional weight we place upon ourselves Hashem took us out of Egypt with an outstretched arm He didn’t just set us free; He lifted us up. He brought us closer through Torah and mitzvot, guiding us daily toward true liberation. We, too, are meant to follow that first directive given to Avraham: Lech Lecha go forth with faith, trusting the path Hashem lays beforeus.
As I continue my journey, I strive to embody this lesson Responsibilities will always be there, but now I understand that freedom isn’t about doing less it’s about carrying wisely And sometimes, the greatest act of strength is the couragetoletgoandletG-d Thatistruefreedom

It's simple to shine when things are going well, but sometimes we must also shine our light when things seem dim
As a nation, we witnessed firsthand the profound impact of October 7th. Even during periods of deep mourning and immense tragedy, we discovered within ourselves remarkable reserves of strength and love Jews globally unitedinanunprecedentedmannertodemonstrateourtrue identity We are descendants of spiritual giants and warriors whose loyalty to Hashem is boundless. As our Sages teach, we have been entrusted with the significant responsibility to praise and glorify Hashem’s name, serve as His representatives in this world, and act as a beacon for other nations
Rabbi Nachman teaches that darkness exists for the sake of light. If 5784 was challenging and confusing, it set the stage forgreatlightin5785.
This past summer, I celebrated a milestone birthday, which includedaroutinemedicalcheck Summersarereflectivefor me, as my mother passed away over 30 years ago during this season. As a result, I delayed this check until Elul, a time knownfortremendousmercyinJudaism.
At the appointment, I was stunned to learn that I needed three biopsies and a fine needle aspiration Despite my fear and confusion, I acknowledged it as Hashem's will, and with tears, creditedthesituationtoHim

I’ve been feeling confused about my relationship with my spouse. Sometimes, his behavior can be hurtful, but afterward, he tends to be overly nice, which triggers a voice in my head that warns me of a red flag, and makes me question whether I’m experiencing abuse. I’m torn between wondering if he’s just a flawed human who has regrets, or if there’s something more sinister at play. How can I discern the difference?
A.
This is such an important question In todays’ world of rampant social media information overload, It completely makes sense that we are all confused about such a complex topic. One of the challenges we face today is the overwhelming number of perspectives that can sometimes leave us feeling gaslit and unsure of ourownexperiences
When it comes to relationships, particularly marriage, it’s vital to acknowledge that we’re all human, navigating our own stories, triggers, and emotional landscapes. It’s important to recognize that the things that may upset you might not affect your spouse in the same way, and vice versa. This is part of the learning curve inanyrelationship
Marriage is not about being perfect or free from conflict; rather, it’s about understanding each other’ssensitivitiesandlearningtocommunicate withcompassion.Areactionofhurtorfrustration doesn’t automatically equate to abuse, and it’s crucial to leave space for human imperfection. It’s also ok for the person to feel bad afterward, and try to go out of their way to be kind. This doesn’tinherentlyimplymanipulation
Emotional abuse can be tricky to define, as it often involves the nuances of how we interact and perceive each other’s actions It’s important to differentiate between occasional emotional reactions due to personal triggers versus consistent patterns of toxic and manipulative behavior that genuinely undermine your selfworth. If you find yourself feeling scared or doubting your reality in the context of your spouse’s behavior on a regular basis, it may be worthexploringthosefeelingsfurther

It’s completely normal to have different perspectives and to occasionally misinterpret each other’s intentions. What matters is how you communicate through those moments and whether there’s a foundationofrespectandlove.
Moreover, if you’re feeling consistently right while believing your spouse is always wrong, it may be a sign to reassess your own attitude, outlook and perspective Relationships are a dance that require both partners to be actively involved in understanding and addressing their own personal triggers as well as each other’s needsandpaintpoints.
Ultimately, trust your instincts and give yourself permission to feel your emotions without labeling them too harshly Recognize that it’s okaytohaveconflicts, emotionalhotspots, and different realities and experiences in a relationship. I had been feeling stuck spiritually disconnected, emotionally blocked, kind of like my soul had hit airplanemodeandIcouldn’tfigureouthowtoturn the WiFi back on. But something about that pure, unified, feminine energy just cracked me open. I wasfinallyabletofeelrealjoyandhope, andItried totakeadvantageofthatintenselypositiveenergy and imagine things I had been stressing about, all falling into place I imagined dancing and celebrating at future simchos that so many are waiting for And in those moments, I realized somethingprofound:Whenwomencometogether inunity throughsong, dance, anddeepemotion we amplify each other’s power. We don’t just double our energy; we multiply it exponentially. Women were given roles of leadership, prophecy, and influence all throughout the Torah. Miriam led theIsraelitewomeninsonganddanceafterthe

What if this is the perfect time to break free from selfdoubt, fear, and the limiting beliefs that hold us back? The ones that tell us we’re not enough, not strong enough, notwiseenough alllies, bytheway.
