Additionally, the traffic signal features a flashing yellow arrow (FYA) operation for both the north and south approaches, bringing the total number of FYA signals to 40.

Transportation’s “Graffiti Busters” have introduced a powerful new tool in their fight against vandalism: the Hot Box Pressure Washer. This innovative device uses hightemperature water stored in a heated tank, which is then sprayed under pressure to remove graffiti directly from surfaces. Unlike traditional methods that simply paint over graffiti, this technique completely eliminates the tags, restoring surfaces to their original condition.
The process is both efficient and environmentally friendly, as it avoids the use of additional paint or chemicals The high heat effectively breaks down paint particles, allowing them to be washed away from the underlying surface. This approach not only improves the city's appearance but also reduces the time and effort required for graffiti cleanup. By using the Hot Box Pressure Washer, the “Graffiti Busters” can respond swiftly to incidents of vandalism, helping to deter future tagging. Glendale residents benefit from cleaner neighborhoods and public spaces, fostering a sense of community pride and safety
Construction has officially begun at the airport for a new 10,000-square-foot hangar. Work started on the plumbing infrastructure that will support the new hangar. The target completion date for the project is set for June 2025. Stay tuned for further updates!
Our Streets Crew has successfully completed repairs on the bridge deck at 59 Avenue over Skunk Creek. The project addressed more than 12,000 square feet of bridge deck spall damage. Crews began by removing the deteriorated concrete to provide a clean and stable surface for the repair process The contractor then applied a high-strength epoxy material to restore the bridge deck's structural integrity th
To enhance durability and prevent future damage, the entire bridge deck was sealed with a Dual Friction Epoxy Overlay system. This process involved applying an epoxy layer followed by an aggregate spread, creating a high-friction, skid-resistant surface. The overlay improves vehicle traction, extends the lifespan of the bridge, and forms a water-resistant barrier to prevent moisture infiltration onto the bridge substructure. The project required careful precision and coordination as workers spread and smoothed the epoxy and aggregate mix to ensure an even application. This comprehensive approach not only addressed current deterioration but also ensures the bridge will remain safe and reliable for years to come
For the past two years, Council Member Bart Turner has allocated funds to enhance greenery in the Barrel District by planting more trees
This year, the planting initiative took place along the west side of 59 Avenue, between Olive Avenue and Mountain View Road With assistance from United Right of Way, a landscaping contractor, 12 Vitex trees were successfully planted
The Vitex tree was selected for its drought tolerance and striking deep purple flowers, which provide visual appeal for each passerby while contributing to a more sustainable and beautiful environment in the long run These trees were strategically planted along designated walking paths to ensure they thrive and reach their full potential.
Streetlighting was invited to the BBQ with the Transportation Traffic Signals Team. I appreciate you all and Thank You!
