DR SEUSS’S THE CAT IN THE HAT - LIVE ON STAGE Two bored kids. One rainy day. And one crazy cat wearing a red-striped hat.

In 1957, Theodor Seuss Geisel used this formula and only 200 words to write his second children’s book as Dr. Seuss. More than 50 years later, The Cat in the Hat is a much-loved children’s phenomenon. The play was adapted for the stage in 2009 by the National Theatre of Britain.

TAIKOZ DRUMMING WORKSHOPS Join Taikoz for a 60 minute, high energy, fun taiko drum workshop.

Taikoz’s workshops are completely interactive, providing a great introduction to the basics of taiko drumming.

The workshop begins with warm ups, which lead into learning rhythmic patterns, followed by a short piece of music to play together at the conclusion.

SINGING IN THE RAIN Based on the 1952 MGM musical this classic musical comedy is light, fast, entertaining and really funny, with its priceless dialogue and upbeat, much loved score its designed to make you smile the whole way through.

When the transition is being made from silent films to talkies, everyone has trouble adapting.

Don and Lina have been cast repeatedly as a romantic couple, but their latest film is remade into a musical only Don has the voice for the new singing part.

After a lot of practice with a diction coach Linda still sounds terrible and Kathy a bright young, aspiring actress is hired to record over her voice.

JOHN MAWURNDJUL I AM THE OLD AND THE NEW

John Mawurndjul AM has led the development of this exhibition, which describes his places of special cultural significance known as kunred, as well as the sacred places and spirits – or djang – that resurface time and time again in his art making. We also encounter the animals and spirit beings that populate these locations.

This exhibition was developed and co-presented by the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia (MCA) and Art Gallery of South Australia (AGSA), in association with Maningrida Arts & Culture. The touring exhibition, which is organised by the MCA, includes over 50 works, spanning forty years of the artist’s practice.

Exhibition organised and toured by the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, supported by Red Energy. This project has been assisted by the Australian Government’s Visions of Australia program.

ELDER IN RESIDENCE Immerse yourself in our local Aboriginal Gathang language with Birpai Elder Rhonda Radley in a series of allocated sessions in the Gallery space. Rhonda will lead you through a sound and pictorial method known as ASLA – Accelerated Second Language Acquisition techniques.

Rhonda is an Aboriginal woman with strong family and cultural ties to the Gathang Birpai and Dhanggati Language Nations.

As a member of the Gathang Language Group and a Language activist she advocates for Aboriginal Languages to be taught, integrated and spoken.

She shares from the heart and incorporates knowledge gained from her life experiences to support the learning and understanding of the complexity of the Aboriginal story.

Rhonda has received state, regional and local awards for her community work.

Currently she is a PHD student researching the ‘Usefulness of Gesture as a Teaching Modality to Learn the Gathang Language’.

AUSTRALIAN TENORS THE SPIRIT OF AUSTRALIA Five of the best tenor voices in Australia, The Australian Tenors return to the Glasshouse with their new show.

The concert encapsulates the spirit, the beauty and vocal demand of truly authentic tenor voice. Audiences are thrilled by the ever-popular classical arias from the popular Operas such as the tenor trademark Puccini - Nessun Dorma, Verdi’s Anvil Chorus to popular tenor tunes from The Student Prince - I’ll Walk With God and The Drinking Song.

The Australian Tenors will also delight the audience with songs from hit music theatre productions including Tonight and Maria from West Side Story and their stirring rendition of The Holy City.

GALA NIGHT AT THE BALLET PRESENTED BY PORT MACQUARIE PERFORMING ARTS & GLASSHOUSE PORT MACQUARIE

A Gala Night at the Ballet is a showcase of classical & contemporary dance, featuring some of Australia’s most sought after performers in a collaboration between professional dance companies and local dance education provider, Port Macquarie Performing Arts.

The central piece will be the re-staging of the 1999 full length ballet, Armistice, choreographed by Stacey Morgan and performed by dancers from Port Macquarie Performing Arts.

In addition to this piece, divertissements will be performed as part of the Gala by dancers from The Queensland Ballet, the West Australian Ballet, the Melbourne City Ballet and The Australian Ballet.

The full length documentary, John Mawurndjul: I am the old and the new (2018) was shot at a number of significant sites on the artist’s Kurulk clan estate. John Mawurndjul discusses his prolific art practice, which he balances alongside his responsibilities as Djunkay (cultural manager) for his traditional homelands. This video introduces many of the topics that Mawurndjul depicts in his artworks that are an intrinsic part of Kuninjku culture.

a diverse mix of activities including end of year school concerts and showcase events.

FRIDAY LUNCHTIME CONCERTS Every Friday, 12.30pm - 1.30pm The Lunchtime Concert Program is presented by the Conservatorium Mid North Coast Inc with the support of Port Macquarie-Hastings Council through its Place Making Team and the Glasshouse.

Every Friday you can enjoy an hour of music, for a gold coin donation, with musicians ranging from 9 to 90, every week is different!

Your Glasshouse-Port Bus Service will drop you right outside the Glasshouse one hour before a show – plenty of time to enjoy a preshow drink, cheese platter, spend some time in the Regional Gallery or relax with friends.

After a show, the bus will pick up passengers outside the Glasshouse and get you safely home.

Port Bus Service will contact you directly to confirm your pick-up time and location prior to the show.
