Spreading the warmth this winter

The new owners of Cappriccios Italian Restaurant in Maleny, Tamara and Dominic Venditti, haven’t told their staff yet but they hope the team will get behind their latest idea of a one night pop up restaurant at Nambour on July 15 for the homeless and disadvantaged of the Sunshine Coast.

The dynamic duo, the son and daughter of the former owners Phil and Sonya, are passionate about giving back to the community.

Tamara said she was walking past the Salvation Army charity shop in the Maleny Riverside Centre when she decided she wanted to be able to spread some love and warmth to those in need this winter.

Following discussions with the charity’s office in Nambour they decided they didn’t want to just make up meals to give the Salvation Army clients but wanted to organise an evening just like going to the restaurant, with friendly staff serving a hearty three course meal at tables with live music to set the mood.

Dom said they mentioned the idea to their regular musician John Mays and he was on board to provide the music. He is also sure their great team will all be keen to support the idea.

The evening will be a collaboration between Cappriccios and the Salvation Army but Tamara is keen to get the community involved by asking locals to contribute by donating new blankets, beanies and socks that can be distributed to their dinner guests on the night.

Donations can be made at the restaurant in the Riverside Centre until Sunday, July 14. They are open from 4pm Tuesday–Friday and from midday Saturday–Sunday.
