Business News Update with Ursula Starkovsky - Chamber President
Doors open on first stage
Welcome to a new chamber year and a very special welcome to our new executive! Taking on a role in an organisation like the chamber is a commitment that keeps you away from your own business for the benefit of the entire business community. Unfortunately in a lot of cases the business community is not aware of how many hours are spent to work collectively for the betterment of all businesses. So, a big thank you to our executive! Last year the chamber started to divert from the usual general meetings with an occasional guest speaker to a more educational agenda. We offered workshops on various topics, we showcased businesses and we introduced the round table discussion. We hope to build on this and offer valuable events for our members, starting with the first workshop meeting on September 24 at the Beerwah Hideaway. Our presenter is Kay Ridge from the Australian Small Business Advisory Service. Look out for the advertisement and check our Facebook page to register your attendance. I look forward to a very successful and interesting chamber year ahead and hope to welcome you at our events. Guests are always welcome. If you have any questions, please email us at info@glasshousecountrychamber.com.au.
The owners of Sun’s Market Square are keen to encourage customers to come into their new premises and take a look around, they are even offering a free gift for anyone who visits them this week. Last week they opened the doors on stage one, which includes a small range of quality fruit and veges on the shelves and in the fridges. They plan to continue to expand the range of what’s on offer as well as introducing basic grocery items. They will also open a butchery soon and a fast food style take away/café will open on the corner in the next couple of weeks. The owners are also offering a great opening discount. If you take their ad (on page 9) when you shop you will receive a $5 discount when you spend $10 or more. If you haven’t stopped in to take a look, you can access the building from a walkway on Simpson Street that runs between Sun’s Chinese and the Paint Place. There is plenty of car parking off Pine Camp Road, both in front of and under the building. The shop is open seven days a week from 8am–5pm at this stage. As their offerings expand opening hours will expand.
