Range Croquet Club Contributed by Ken Barker In two games of association, using first colours, Bev Sockhill and Sally Adams took Gillian Bradley to a four-all draw. On the same lawn Nick Cram showed fine form in a sparkling finish to his game against Ken Barker to record a 13-6 win. An approaching storm called an abrupt end to proceedings in these games. Wallace Roy and Vince Carbery played Sarah Widin and Donna Manning to a 12-all draw while Ken beat Kath Smith 26-10. Several members of our club attended the funeral of Bill Bray in Nambour on Tuesday. Bill was 98 when he died, having been a fine member of his community and club. I have met many fundamentally decent people in my time playing croquet but none more so than Bill. Vale. Playing times have Bill Bray in his changed for summer. Nambour colours New times are 2pm for 2.30pm. Play days are on Thursdays and Sundays on the green and cheerful lawns at the bottom of the Maleny Showgrounds. Coaching for beginners and others is available from 8-10 am on Saturdays. These are popular sessions in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Our web address is www.rangecroquetatmaleny. org.au. For details contact president Vince Carbery on 54942193 or secretary Priscilla Vickers on 5494 3555.
