The Range Croquet Club Contributed by Ken Barker Bev Sockhill and Ken Barker went down 5–6 in a tight game against Gillian Bradley and Helen Andrews. Donna Manning competed in the second division CAQ medal competition held at Graceville club. Well done Donna for a fine performance. On Saturday, October 12 as an aside to the training, there was a lively six-ball game between Ken, Wallace Roy and Stuart Craig. It would be fair to say that not much serious play was involved in this game. Sarah Widin thrashed Ken 26–2 in a one-sided game in which she played beautifully. Meanwhile Helen and Wallace played very well against Kath Smith and created a significant early lead. Kath fought back gamely but was unable to reel them in and the final score was 11–9 against her. Playing times have changed for summer. New times are 2pm for 2.30 pm. Play days are on Thursdays and Sundays on the once-again green and cheerful lawns at the bottom of the Maleny Showgrounds. Coaching for beginners and others is available from 8-10 am on Saturdays. These are popular sessions in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Our web address is www.rangecroquetatmaleny. org.au. For details contact president Vince Carbery on 54942193 or secretary Priscilla Vickers on 5494 3555.

Contributed by Pauline Fraley Witta Wagtails enjoyed their day of tennis against Eumundi Miss Gems but unfortunately not the score. Eumundi Miss Gems were the stronger of the two and the winners on the day. Thanks to Jan Maguire, Cynthia Garvie, Sonia Douglas and special thanks again to Jill Murtagh for filling in. Witta Whistlers played a hard fought and very close match against the number one team in division one, Ballinger Breezes. With Aki Leper out for the day Roz Evans came in and did a great job winning all her sets. The matches went down to the wire and it was anyone's match going into the last two sets. Ballinger were victorious by one game. Thanks again to the triumphant team but congratulations to Paula Cudmore, Roz Evans, Brenda Warner and Donna Kuskopf for their tenacious effort. The Wildcats were at home to division leaders Eumundi Echo. Pauline Fraley, Stacey English, Annie Stewart and Libby Howlett were up by one game after the first two sets. They remained in the lead to the end with many very close sets. Fantastic tennis from both teams but the Wildcats prevailed bringing the win home. Final score was 6–2 sets; 40–33 games. Social tennis is on Monday 8am and Saturday 1pm. All welcome. For court bookings phone 0437 295 501 or www.wittatennis.com.au.
