Maleny Golf Club
Contribute by Ken Barker A variety of games took place on Thursday, March 7. Donna Manning was very helpful with Gary Winter and Gillian Bradley playing a friendly game of association. Sally Adams and Bev Sockhill held Brenda Winter to a three all draw at golf. On lawn one Ken Barker and Donna squeezed ahead of Nick Cram and Kath Smith 10–9 in a tight association game. Sunday, March 10, and beautiful weather brought people to the lawn. Sarah Widin and Nick played well to beat Vince Carbery and Kath 14–8. On lawn two Stuart Craig and Donna soundly defeated Ken 9-7. Stuart played well. Coaching for beginners and others is available on the picturesque lawns at the bottom of the Maleny Showgrounds from 8-10 am on Saturdays. These are popular sessions in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Play days are at 2.10pm for 2.30pm on Thursdays and Sundays. For details contact president Vince Carbery on 5494 2193 or secretary Priscilla Vickers on 5494 3555. Member Ted Gardner is of one of the club’s many quiet helpers who regularly helps with the lawn mowing and on working bees. Here he can be seen waiting patiently for the mower so he can fill the barrow

NTPs: 2 - Helen Lewis, 5 - Jo Malone, 9 and 16 - Andrea Campbell. 18 - (second shot) Hope Hannah. Thursday, March 14 we again played a stableford with only 40 ladies. Winner was Vikki Bartel on 34 points on count back from Robyn Taylor on 34 points. The second runner up was Sue-Ellen Boreham on 33. NTPs 2 Andrea Campbell, 5 - Sue-Ellen Boreham, 16 - Felicity Smith and 18 – (second shot) Teresa Keast. BRD went to 31 points. Just a reminder the membership drive continues until the end of March so if you have ever thought you may be interested in the game, now is a great opportunity to come and try. Also, the restaurant is now open and the comments to date have been extremely positive. It's a great menu, good drink prices and no parking problems. Why not give it a try.
