Maleny Bowls Club

Contributed by Graeme Glover A great week of bowls has been had by many at the club and the change of night, because of State of Origin, didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the fourteen teams that continued in our mid-week, night competition. It was a night of surprises and one which turned form upside down. The Golfers left their previous good form on the fairway to be given a lesson by the very confident Musketeers. The Outlaws continued their early form with a good win. Mighty 10 continues to burn the opposition which is no surprise knowing their all too familiar reputation. The Amigos have started well and no one’s looking forward to the usual north Maleny grudge match scheduled for a little later in the competition. Mos Marauders bounced back into the winner’s circle with a good win. RPT showed good form in defeating JAM. Oblimey took advantage of the bye to have some fun in a game of pairs. No one can pick a favourite yet for this competition as the last 2 weeks have turned up some real shocks. The Tutors could be the surprise

packet as they are known to show good late form so good wins are in the wings. The only certainty is the quality of the burgers and the cold beer on tap being enjoyed by the 42 participating bowlers. Take the opportunity to come along, all invited, everyone gets a game. Please note, it is Tuesday night while State of Origin football is on, then back to the normal time of 6pm on a Wednesday night. Scroungers continues to prove popular with good numbers turning up to play in this handicap format of the game. Come and try – 2pm for 2.30pm start on Friday. A reminder to those who enjoy a mid-week morning game. Come along on Tuesday mornings for the triple or pairs format being played at the club. Now that we are back to the ‘new normal’ for Maleny Bowls Club, it is very timely to acknowledge a big thank you to all those folks who regularly volunteer around the club to provide bowls for many in such a great community facility. Well done our volunteers, the members acknowledge and thank for giving of your time on a regular weekly basis.

Chicko is looking for a strong owner to give him guidance and stability. Ideally he would love to be someone’s companion for the retired or stay at home person as he just adores being around people. He has lived with another dog, so he might be open to having a fur sibling, we are unsure how he is with cats, children or livestock at this time. Chicko will need a secure yard with 6ft timber, brick or colorbond fencing and plenty of company.
