Vale Vale John Aitken John William Aitken died quietly in his home on August 15 aged 84 after a short stay in hospital following a heart attack. John was born in Lilydale, Victoria and grew up on a lovely cherry orchard. He was a wonderful husband and all who knew him respected him and his lovely smile. John and I met at Yarrawonga in Victoria 20 years ago playing bowls. He loved his bowls and played until a couple of weeks before he died. He belonged to the Glasshouse Country Bowls Club for more than 20 years. We married in 2000 at the cathedral in Wangaratta and had 20 wonderful years together, both loving the bush. We spent 15 years exploring this wonderful country on back roads in our grand old Phoenix caravan, which was a home away from home. Our base was Beerwah between trips. We helped rangers in Western Australia, which was a wonderful experience and lifestyle. John has two daughters, Leanne and Cheryl, and two grandsons, Jake and Zac. He was very proud of them. He was also wonderful to my two boys, Stephen and Phil. Your loving wife Rhyllis

Bereavement Thanks THANK YOU to all who have offered their condolences for the devastating and unexpected loss of my dear wife Jan. You have truly eased our pain with your expressions of love and gratitude for Jan through your phone calls, cards, flowers and meals delivered to our home. Jan loved and knew many people in our community. With that in mind, and once the current COVID restrictions have been eased, our family will celebrate Jan’s life by throwing a party for members of the community. In the meantime, please accept my sincere and grateful thank you for everyone’s support. Graeme Cheal and families.
