‘Mad Mike’ and ‘Krazy Ken’ deciding a drawn game at Dunsborough WA There was no play on the lawn on Thursday because of inclement weather. This however is good for the grass which we want to be in great shape for the regional tournament which is being played this week on April 9-10. Sunday, March 31 saw the first good weather for a while and Vince Carbery and Frances Harper used the time well to find the hoop holes for the half courts in preparation for the visit by the Range Care group this week. Nick Cram and Vince played a handicap game against Donna Manning and Stuart Craig winning 125. Sarah Widin played well against Anne McLennan from Sunnyside, Bundaberg to win 14-4. The new sail from the Rotary Club proved to be a great success providing an excellent viewing area for the games. It has arrived just in time for the Sunshine Coast Regional Championships being held at our lawns. It is and will be greatly appreciated by the players and visitors. The Range Care group had another good day on Tuesday, April 2 in picture perfect conditions. Well done to all those who came down to help. Last Wednesday Ken Barker played golf croquet at the Dunsborough Club in Western Australia as part of an ongoing competition with a non-croquet playing friend Michael Chan where they play a session of croquet and a session of links golf. The stakes are a bottle of whisky, Cointreau or the equivalent. Ken and Mike would like to thank the Dunsborough Club for being so welcoming and for a wonderful afternoon of play. Coaching for beginners and others is available on the picturesque lawns at the bottom of the Maleny Showground from 8-10am on Saturdays. These are popular sessions in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. With the start of the cooler months, play days revert to the earlier starting time of 1pm for games to begin at 1.30pm on Thursdays and Sundays. Our web address is https://rangecroquetatmaleny.org.au. For details contact president Vince Carbery on 5494 2193 or secretary Priscilla Vickers on 5494 3555.
