Now in its 28th year, Glasgow Doors Open Days Festival is back to throw open the doors of the city in celebration of Glasgow’s architecture, culture and heritage. Join us 11-17th September to get behind the scenes in some of Glasgow’s iconic historic buildings as well as working factories, breweries, theatres and more. With a whole new history, heritage and archaeology themed programme, featuring hundreds of open buildings, walks, talks, tours, exhibitions, special events and children’s activities, the city is yours to explore! Part of Scotland's Festival of Architecture 2017.

6. Garnethill Synagogue 129 Hill Street, G3 6UB 1877-79, John McLeod in consultation with N.S. Joseph (Cat A) Scotland’s first purpose-built Synagogue. As well as continuing to be an active place of workship, the building is the home of the Scottish Jewish Archive Centre and Museum.

This “A” listed building features extensive high quality stained glass windows.

9. Glasgow Central Mosque 1 Mosque Avenue, G5 9TA 1983-4 Glasgow Central Mosque is the first purpose-built mosque in Scotland.

Visited weekly 5,000 times by Muslims mainly to pray or gain knowledge, and a large number of non-Muslims visit regularly to learn about Islam.

Visit the School’s recently completed Reid building to view exhibitions on the ground floor, browse the visitor centre and join a tour.

The Lighthouse 18. Glasgow Sheriff Court 1 Carlton Place, G5 9DA (Sat-Nav G5 9TW) 1986, Keppie Henderson (Cat B) Imposing purpose built courthouse for The Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service (SCTS), covers civil and criminal business and is the largest Court in the Estate. 23. Provand’s Lordship 3 Castle Street, G4 0RB 1471 (Cat A) Dating from 1471, Provand’s Lordship is Glasgow’s oldest remaining house which formed part of the Cathedral precinct. Having passed into secular and commercial use, it was saved from demolition by the Provands Lordship Society in the early 20th century.
