Message from the Mayor
The Gladstone Region is a fantastic place to live, work, play and invest.
It is also a great location to host events, both indoors and outdoors, capitalising on the state-of-the-art Gladstone Entertainment Convention Centre (GECC) and other Council-owned facilities.
Alternatively, our stable climate with approximately 300 days of sunshine per year makes Gladstone the ideal outdoor events destination with a wide variety of locations to choose from.
No matter the location, Council’s talented Community Events team have the runs on the board when it comes to delivering high-profile and successful events throughout the region.
You’ll find examples of these events inside this prospectus including the prestigious Martin Hanson Memorial Art Awards, the multi-award-winning Luminous art and light spectacular or the popular youth event, Festival of Summer.
These events often take months to plan and our Community Events team are always trying to find new and innovative ways in the way they plan and deliver events.
Coupled with support from Council’s Brand and Communications team to help promote these events via different media channels, your business can be confident that your brand will be recognised far and wide.
Council’s social media pages have more than 32,000 followers, engaging more than 600,000 people during the 2021/22 financial year.
Website views also tracked at about 63,500 per month, with Luminous the most viewed event with 18,737 page views.
Attendance figures for these events have grown exponentially in recent years, particularly Luminous.
Luminous attracted 12,000 attendees over two nights in 2019, and following a COVID-19 hiatus in 2020, it saw a massive increase in attendance in 2021 and 2022 with more than 50,000 people passing through the gates of Tondoon Botanic Gardens during this time.
If you haven’t already, I encourage you to read Council’s Gladstone Regional Events Strategy 2019-2024 that outlines our plans to strengthen the Gladstone Region’s profile and position us as a nationally recognised event destination.

Not only do vibrant events play a vital role in increasing visitation, but they also stimulate the local economy.
The Gladstone Region has the capacity to host major events, cultural performances, conferences, festivals and expos.
More than 200 festivals and events are staged throughout the Gladstone Region annually and we’d love your company or organisation to be involved in some of these events in 2023 and beyond.
