Five young people aged 17–25 with firsthand experience in OOHC were involved as co-researchers throughout this project. We wanted to learn about practices policy actors use to ‘give due weight’ to children and young people’s views when making decisions and rules. In our research, we observed over 100 people engaged in policy decision-making, and interviewed nine senior policy actors. Through our eyes presents the six practices we found to be associated with giving due weight to the views of children and young people, alongside co-researchers' views about how practices might be improved.
