OUR IMPACT Workforce Equity & Job Placement | Pipeline 4.0 We are dedicated to creating a transformative impact in the lives of Black & Brown young adults by providing them with equal access and opportunities in the tech industry. Our innovative program, Pipeline 4.0, aims to cultivate professionalism, assess skills, and foster a supportive network of professional leaders.

Year-to-date, 76 individuals have been served through employment opportunities.

We are proud to share that 85% of our participants have successfully secured job placements.

To ensure holistic development, our program has provided a comprehensive total of 300 hours of soft skills training.

Economic Mobility & Entrepreneurship | Building For Equity We provide women-led businesses with equitable access to capital, empowerment through a professional network of investors, and tools to improve economic mobility that is only sometimes available in today's modern entrepreneurial efforts.

We prioritize providing Black & Brown women-led businesses with access to capital. Remarkably, 72% of entrepreneurs funded their businesses without relying on institutional funding. By offering alternative pathways for financial support, we enable these entrepreneurs to overcome traditional barriers and achieve their goals.

Our program has successfully recruited 42 founders from underrepresented backgrounds. We build a more inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem by identifying and nurturing diverse talent.

73% of accelerator participants reported revenue growth after just 6-mos. of completing our accelerator.

Education & Career Pathways | K-12 Youth Initiative We are dedicated to revolutionizing education and career pathways for K-12 youth. Through immersive, handson after-school programs and college immersion experiences, we inspire and empower young minds to unlock their inner potential.

A remarkable 84% of teens aged 12-17 express interest in pursuing STEM careers, showcasing the program's ability to spark enthusiasm in these fields.

83% of program participants strongly desire to attend college, indicating the program's success in fostering aspirations for higher education.

DR. MAE JEMISON ENTREPRENEUR, ENGINEER, PHYSICIAN, FORMER NASA ASTRONAUT, EDUCATOR, AND HUMANITARIAN

Mae Jemison, M.D. is at the forefront of integrating the physical and social sciences with art and culture to solve problems and foster innovation. Jemison leads 100 Year Starship® (100YSS), a nonprofit global initiative to assure that capabilities for human travel beyond our solar system to another star exist within the next 100 years while transforming life on Earth. 100YSS celebrated its 10th anniversary this year with Nexus Nairobi™ – When SPACE, PURPOSE & CULTURE Collide™—in the cradle of humans. Started thru a competitive seed-funding grant from DARPA,100YSS pushes radical leaps in knowledge, technology, and human systems.

Dr. Jemison served six years as a Meet NASASpecial astronaut and Speaker, was the first woman Guest Arion Longof color in the world to go into space aboard a joint space shuttle mission with the Japanese space agency. Trained as an engineer, social scientist and dancer, Jemison, a medical doctor, was the Area Peace Corps Medical Officer for Sierra Leone and Liberia. Dr. Jemison founded technology organizations including The Jemison Group, Inc. a technology consulting firm integrating critical socio-cultural issues into the design of engineering and science projects.

As an environmental studies professor at Dartmouth College, Dr. Jemison focused on designing sustainability into technologies for both the industrialized and developing worlds.

In 1994, Dr. Jemison founded the international science camp The Earth We Share™ (TEWS), which designs and implements STEM education experiences impacting thousands of students and hundreds of teachers worldwide and is a program of the non-profit Dorothy Jemison Foundation for Excellence (DJF). LOOK UP One Skyä, led by Jemison, developed the “Skyfie” ™ App that connects people, on a single day worldwide, to weave a global tapestry of what we individually see, feel, think, love, fear, offer, need and hope as we look up at the sky.

A member of the National Academy of Medicine, Dr. Jemison is the Chair of the NASA Innovative Advanced Concepts External Council and is on the board of directors of Kimberly-Clark and the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards. Dr. Jemison has led the Texas State Product Development and Small Business Incubator Boards among other national, state and city projects for business incubators and small business investment, infrastructure, disaster response and development of advanced industries and has served on multiple Fortune 500 company boards.

MEET OUR HONORARY CO-CHAIR & AWARD RECIPIENT

TARA N. SPAIN TRAVELERS INSURANCE Tara N. Spain is vice president and chief operating officer of the Travelers Foundation and assistant vice president of community relations at Travelers. Ms. Spain manages strategy and operations for the company’s philanthropic arm, as well as key national partnerships throughout the United States. In this role, she was instrumental in launching a national small business initiative for women, veteran and entrepreneurs of color and a college access initiative for students from economically under resourced communities. Prior to her role in community relations, she was a marketing project manager and account manager with Citigroup, managing marketing strategies for five product lines.

Meet Special Guest Speaker, Arion Long Tara has served on several non-profit boards and is currently a board member of ReSet (Social Enterprise Trust) and Usher’s New Look. She is also an advisor for the Pell Institute, a research and public policy thinktank in Washington, DC and the U.S. Chamber Foundation. Tara has been recognized with several honors including Top 25 Women in Business (2023) and 40 Under 40 by the Hartford Business Journal, Volunteer of the Year by the Urban League of Greater Hartford, A Women of Influence by Usher’s New Look and she received the Recent Distinguished Alumni Award by the University of Connecticut. She holds a B.S. in Marketing from Virginia State University, Magna Cum Laude, a Masters of Public Administration from the University of Connecticut, and a Certificate in Community Involvement Leadership from the Center for Corporate Citizenship at Boston College’s Carroll School of Management. She currently lives in West Hartford, Connecticut.
