Camp Guide at Girl Scout Camp!

![]()

In a Girl Scout nurturing and encouraging environment, campers are more comfortable trying new outdoor activities and taking the lead.
Grow Grit
The truth is, campers might scrape a knee or elbow while they’re away—and that’s a good thing! They’ll learn to get back up after minor setbacks, like scrapes and bumps, they’ll build resilience and learn that they are a lot tougher than they think.
Gaining Independence
Being away from home might be a bit intimidating to both your camper and you. But having that time away to explore and try activities builds self-reliance.
Mentorship
Having a variety of awesome role models will help your camper see the many ways to be successful and happy in life. And our incredibly supportive staff and counselors are ready to step up to the plate and inspire!
There’s nothing quite like giggling over games in the bunk or singing songs with new besties around a campfire. Having a diverse group of friends, not just kids your camper knows from school, will broaden their horizons and help them see their own worth, too.
Getting out in nature, soaking up the sun, or dashing inside during a sudden downpour is way more exciting than any app can be. Unplugging for a while will keep campers more present and truly enjoying every moment instead of simply watching it from a screen.
Playtime is anything but a waste of time. In fact, studies show that play allows the neurons in a child’s brain to form new connections— and that this rewiring helps boost emotional intelligence, decisionmaking skills, creativity, and problem-solving abilities.

Dear Parents and Campers,
I am excited to welcome you to another fun-filled summer at GSCCC’s camps! Your camper will have so many choices to choose from this coming camp season, and I’m thrilled to be working with such a talented team to create an amazing line-up of programs. We know your camper will be able to “explore more,” grow, and make lasting memories.
We believe that every child should have the opportunity to have the unique experience only Girl Scout camp can provide. Outdoor adventure and friendship guaranteed! Our goal is to offer a safe, nurturing, and inspiring space where campers can develop new skills, forge lasting friendships, and grow in confidence. And they do this through activities found at our camps—hiking, swimming, arts and crafts, team-building challenges, outdoor cooking, and so much more. We know you’re excited as well for your camper to have a chance to discover new talents and passions while building independence and responsibility for self.
Our supportive team looks forward to seeing you and your camper at one of our camp open houses where you’ll get more details and find out how your camper will take on new challenges, enjoy nature in fun ways, and create a summer experience like no other. We’re ready and the excitement is spreading, so don’t wait to register!

Natalie “Disney” Lane Outdoor Adventures Manager customercare@gsccc.org

It pays to register early! Register from February 12-March 18, 2026 and receive a $15 discount per session (registration must be accompanied by the required non-refundable $50 deposit and does not apply to CIT or Program Aide sessions).

Each week of overnight camp will have a unique theme. We will host a themed dinner and allcamp activities for everyone to enjoy. You can send your camper with a costume; however, they will have time during the week to make their own creations!

Discover the fun that awaits you at camp this summer at a free open house event! Take a guided tour or explore on your own. From archery to canoeing to rock wall climbing, you’ll see why Girl Scout camp is the best place to be in the summer. Make sure to wear your walking shoes! Registration is encouraged, however, walk-ins are welcome.

Sleeping arrangements at overnight camp vary. Some of the various accommodations available at Camp Skimino include cabins and platform tents.
There is nothing like activity and fresh air to make a camper HUNGRY! Camp meals and snacks are healthy and are foods kids like. During breakfast, a cereal bar and fruit are available in addition to the main meal. During lunch and dinner, we offer a fresh salad bar as a supplement to the main meal. Most meals are prepared by our kitchen staff and eaten in the dining hall. Campers have the opportunity to cook at least once with their unit (weather permitting). Most diets (gluten-free, diabetic, kosher, vegetarian, vegan, allergies, etc.) can be accommodated by contacting customercare@gsccc.org at least two weeks before camp session. We follow the American Heart Association and Diabetes Association nutritional guidelines.
Do campers get to choose their activities? Yes, each unit program offers specialized activities that campers will participate in. Campers will take part in planning which will give them an opportunity to pick some of the additional areas of focus and activities during their session.
Can my camper attend camp with a buddy/friend?
During registration, one buddy’s name can be listed. Buddies must be entering the same program level in the fall and same session.
Can my camper call home during the week?
No. We encourage independence and self-reliance during camp. The camp director will contact caregivers if a camper has a medical problem, is excessively homesick or if there is an emergency. We encourage you to talk with your camper about this prior to camp.
Safety of our campers is our top priority so outdoor activities are dependent on the weather. Should we need to adjust activities due to unsafe weather conditions, your camper will instead enjoy other activities that can be done indoors.
All campers are required to complete camper information, health, and permission forms by the deadline. You can submit them easily online. (Delays may affect your camper’s attendance.)
Each camper will receive a camp t-shirt and patch per session attended. Remember to indicate your child’s shirt size on the registration form.
Who can attend Girl Scout camp?
Day camp is open to all Girl Scouts who have completed kindergarten through rising 9th grade. Overnight camp is for Girl Scouts who have completed first grade and up.
How do I know my camper is in good hands?
Safety is our number one priority. Our camps operate by the standards of Girl Scouts of the USA, which meet or exceed the standards of local and state health departments. Camp staff are carefully chosen and interviewed for their skills

All staff complete intensive training related to their position, including first aid, CPR, camp craft skills, child development, waterfront skills, and conflict management.

Does my camper need a physical?
We require an up-to-date Camper Health History form must be completed online for every camper. Please help us provide adequate care for your Girl Scout by giving information about their health that will make their stay at camp happy and healthy. However, Camp Fury campers are required to submit a copy of their latest physical.
How does the camp handle health care?

There is a health center located at every camp and staffed around the clock by a health coordinator, who is certified in first aid and CPR. Caregivers are always contacted at the earliest opportunity in the event of serious injury or illness during camp. Each camp has an ongoing relationship with a health care facility nearby for consultation and emergency medical services if needed.
Can I bring mail to camp or do I mail it?
We recommend you hand-carry mail and leave it at check-in. Remember to put your camper’s name, unit and what day you would like the mail delivered. Alternatively, we have designated camp@gsccc.org as the caregiver-camper email connection during their stay at overnight camp.
Emails will be checked once a day, printed and given to your camper during mail call at lunch. We request that you limit emails to one per day. Simply include your camper’s name and unit name in the subject line. Do not include photos in your emails as we cannot accommodate printing them.
Please only send camper mail to camp@gsccc.org. If you have a question during camp, please contact customercare@gsccc.org

Kapers are chores; it is important in Girl Scouting to learn that everyone must do their share. Sharing the kapers helps to keep the camp program site tidy and safe. Responsibilities are rotated among the campers and could include picking up litter, collecting firewood, lending a hand preparing meals and cleaning up, and cleaning bathrooms. This takes place in small groups and camp staff also participate in each of these activities.
Will my camper earn badges at camp?
Yes, at the end of each week if a badge or award was completed, your camper will receive it on the last day of the program.
Are electronics allowed at camp?
No. At Girl Scout camp, we believe we are visitors in the great outdoors. We live side-by-side with bugs, animals and nature in simple living accommodations. While campers are enjoying their day or overnight camp session, we require all campers to leave electronics, including smart watches, at home. We do not have phones or computers for the campers to use, as we want them to enjoy their experience while not being distracted.
