Celebration and Thanksgiving for Louise Lee, Lily and Charlie release 38 balloons in celebration of Louise’s life
by Keith Nicol THERE WERE two full houses this week yet nobody wanted to be there. Those that did, did so because RTN journalist Louise Clarke had touched their lives in some small or large way, and they wanted to pay their last respects and share love and support with Louise’s family. Tuesday was her funeral service and Wednesday a special Gala Celebration; the Glitter Ball. Last Friday, just as her family, friends and co-workers were expressing their hopes and wishes that Louise was on the road to recovery, the unthinkable happened and Louise slipped out of her coma and passed away. A very sad day for all that knew Louise. Tuesday was a day of reflection, sharing memories and shedding tears, as Louise was ‘laid to rest’ in Crematorio de San Pedro, San Pedro del Pinatar. More than 350 people at-
tended the service from all walks of life including family, friends, charity organisers, a representation from the British Consulate, members of different political parties, the general public, many of whom Louise had helped over the years, plus media colleagues from print, radio and TV. The service was conducted by Canon Terence Sampson, who shared many stories about Louise’s life, her family and her career in journalism but stressed that the service was very much a celebration and thanksgiving for Louise’s life. He highlighted the fact that Tuesday and Wednesday were two very different occasions; one full of sorrow and grief and the other of joy and fun. Overall, the two created the balance that was needed to allow the family to go though every emotion and allow them to reflect on the joy that Louise spread to everyone that she came in contact with.
