“Architecture of Solitude” is a group exhibition of Jethro Ian Lacson (Manila), Eri Aikawa (Japan), Erika Mayo (Bacolod), Ginoe Ojoy (Silay) and Arthel Tagnipez (Bacolod). The exhibition will run from September 8 until October 1, 2017.
This exhibition aims to expose the human condition when it is not under pressure by societal standards. “Architecture of Solitude” is an investigation of our own existence when our walls are broken down and our protective shell shed. It is a peek into our psyche when one is in a state of balancing vulnerability and safety, comfort and anxiety. Within the planes of their painting surfaces, the artists explore what it means to be home, whether figuratively or literally.
“Architecture of Solitude” also begs the question, “Who are we when no one sees us?” In that light, the show can also be a manifestation of our coping mechanisms as human beings when the world outside gets too rowdy, too noisy, too much.
