The biggest day of your life doesn’t have to be as stressful as everyone makes it out to be…

From the day you get engaged to the time you see your wedding album for the first time, I am with you every step of the way, not only as your wedding photographer, but also to help offer advice and support when you need it.

It’s so important for me to get to know my wedding clients, and even more amazing when I become their friend and photographer for life.

You’re probably overwhelmed with all the wedding information out there, but don’t worry, you’re not alone. I am here to help!

The information in this planning guide is meant to help you through (almost) all of your photography-related questions, so you can be relaxed and excited for your big day.

MEET GINNY Hi! I’m Ginny – a full time professional photographer from Farnham in Surrey, specialising in doing what I truly love – Weddings, Families and Women’s Portraiture.

I love to work closely with my Clients, ensuring they feel comfortable in front of my camera.

If I’m photographing your wedding, I'll fit-in like one of your guests and capture those special moments without you even noticing I’m there.

I’ve always loved weddings and getting dressed up, ever since I was a bridesmaid for the first time at the age of 10 and got to wear a pretty dress like a princess (now hideously 80’s!). When I started working for a wedding and portrait studio in 2008 and assisted at my first wedding, I was hooked. I LOVED it. Everyone’s always so happy and dressed in gorgeous outfits, with gorgeous attention to detail in venue decorations. I’m like a kid in a sweet shop and can’t wait to photograph it all. I love to tell a story! I especially love alternative weddings or anything a bit different. Why not do things your own way and in your own style?!

I’m inspired by vintage, boho, retro and ethnic styles, whether that’s a wedding, clothing or home decor. You will probably find me glued to Pinterest daydreaming over mood boards! But if I do manage to drag myself away from my computer and get out and about, I love a stroll in the evening sunshine, a country pub and some yoga (to stop me feeling like an old woman).

It all started in 2007... I started working for an award winning Wedding and Portrait studio in Farnham, and did a degree in Commercial Photography at the Arts University in Bournemouth, where I specialised in fashion photography. I’ve also done a lot of nursery school and family portraiture, which has really given me a love of beautiful relaxed natural light portraits.

I am also lucky enough to have been awarded a Licentiateship in Photography by the SWPP (Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers), as well as winning a few Gold Awards in their competitions, and more recently have been shortlisted two years running as a Finalist in the 2015 & 2016 Wedding Industry Awards for Best Wedding Photographer in London and the South East.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN? 1. First step - Informal chat - we either meet face-to-face for a cuppa or have a Skype meeting to go through all the options and prices.

2. Confirm you’d like to go ahead and book me for your wedding – yay! Tell us what you’d like included in your photography package so we can put together a quote or two.

We send you the contract – you fill out our online booking form, select which quote you’re happy to go ahead with, sign the contract, and pay the booking fee, all online. Simples!

3. Do you require a pre-wedding photo shoot?

This can be booked any time, although weekends get quite busy in the summer months so a weekday evening is usually better, about an hour or two before sunset for the best light… It needs to be at least a month or two before your wedding so there’s plenty of time to get any printed products ready, such as a signing book or signing frame, for your guests to write you messages on your wedding day.

4. A Bridal Boudoir shoot is another option – pamper yourself and get a confidence boost (plus a fabulous gift!) before your big day. This would need to be booked for a couple of months before your wedding. Shoots take place at Hotel de Vie Monday – Thursday daytimes.

Alternatively you could do a mini-boudoir session the morning of your wedding if time allows!

5. A couple of months before your wedding… We send you our online pre-wedding questionnaire to get a few more details about photo requests and timings. We also send you the invoice for

the balance of your wedding photography, which is due a month before your wedding.

6. A week or two before your wedding…

We meet for a catch up, preferably at your venue! If not local this can be done via Skype. This is to go through all the timings and confirm the photography schedule for the day. If your venue isn’t local, I would visit the day before or the morning of, if staying over the night before.

7. Wedding Day! Yay! I’ll be there to guide you through the day as much or as little as you need. I’m very organized so like to make sure things are running on schedule, whilst you hardly noticing I’m there!

8. A few days after your wedding… I will e-mail you a link to your gallery with a sneak preview of a few images, plus I will put a few on my Facebook weddings page, which you’re very welcome to tag and share!

9. A few weeks after your wedding… the rest of your images will typically be ready within 6-8 weeks depending on how much work I’ve got and if it’s peak wedding season. I’ll always get your images ready as soon as I can. Ideally I’d love for you to be able to come to my office in Farnham, so we can celebrate with a glass of bubbly and view them in person!

10. If you’re having a wedding album… this can take a little while to choose your images but it’s always best to get it all done within 6 months after your wedding!

You choose the images, I do the design, you approve before print. Production time once I send your album off to be made is usually 4-6 weeks.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Q. What makes your work different from other photographers?

A: It’s true that there are way too many wedding photographers in this industry, and even in my area! But they are not all good photographers, and hopefully my portfolio shows that I’m pretty good at what I do! I’m excited to offer Video Fusion Films with my wedding packages, which not many photographers do - they are slideshows that I make after the wedding, backed and timed to suitable music, with a mixture of little video clips and still images I’ve taken from your wedding day to give real impact and take you back to that moment.

I also have a lot of experience photographing women, and love giving women body confidence with my Boudoir shoots, which is a really popular surprise gift for the groom before the wedding day! There are not so many boudoir photographers in this area, and especially not many really good ones!

Q. Who owns the copyright? Can we print our photos ourselves?

A: The photographer always owns the copyright as images are like a piece of artwork. But basically, the images are as good as yours. You will get a full print release with licence for personal use, which means you can print yourself, share with others, post online and use to your hearts content!

Q. How many photographers will be there at our wedding?

A: Most wedding collections come with one photographer, which will always be me, although you can always add on a second photographer for an additional cost.

Q. What happens if you’re ill and can’t photograph our wedding?

A: This is a very good question. Although this has never happened in my career of being a wedding photographer, and it would have to be extremely serious for me to not be able to attend, you can never say never. Luckily I know a few very lovely and talented wedding photographers in the industry that I can call upon in emergency situations and would make sure you would have your wedding covered by another professional. I would never just leave you without a photographer.

Q. How many images do we get?

A: There’s never a limit on the number of photographs I take during a wedding, but I will edit them down to about a third of what I take, to cut out people blinking & bad expressions etc!

You will get at least 500 if I’m with you for the whole day. It all depends on how long I’m there, what’s going on in the day, and how many guests you have.

Q. What equipment do you use and do you have backups?

A: Yes! I always carry a back up camera and lens in my camera bag (quite often I’ll have two cameras on me at once with my fancy leather harness!) – I currently shoot with a Canon 5D MkIII with 24-70mm f2.8 II L lens, and Canon 5D MkII with 70-200mm lens, plus a few other fabulous professional lenses. I also carry spare batteries and spare memory cards, plus a few flashes and other professional lighting bits and bobs.

Q. How far in advance should we book our photography?

A: As far in advance as possible! Usually I get booked about a year in advance for most of my weddings, but I’m not fully booked every weekend – if you’ve left it to the last minute do still get in touch and you might be in luck. But just remember...

A £500 deposit and signed contract is required in order to get your wedding day secured in our calendar.

WEDDING DAY TIPS On your wedding day, gather all your details (such as flowers, shoes, dress, jewellery, tie, cuff links, stationery, and anything that means a lot to you), before the day starts so we can photograph them quickly! This makes the getting-ready portion of the day go by much more smoothly, and it allows me to spend more time focusing on the spontaneous moments when everyone is together.

Do assign a bridesmaid to help keep the room tidy. Photos look best with no clutter and mess in the background!

Aim to be completely ready an hour before you need to leave for the ceremony, and make sure your bridesmaids are completely ready before you need to put on your dress. You don’t want to be rushing around at the last minute, and you do want plenty of time to relax, have fun and have some portraits taken when looking your best!

Assign the best man, one of the ushers or bridesmaids who know various family members to help get people for group photos. It always runs smoothly and quickly if the next group is ready when the first is being photographed.

Think about getting a white wooden hanger for your dress. They photograph well and are great keepsakes for years to come.

Remember to relax and enjoy the day!
