UAE HOLDS A $1 MILLION CHALLENGE TO END WATER SCARCITY Water scarcity is a serious crisis, especially for desert countries like UAE. That’s why the UAE Water Aid Foundation (Suqia) had announced the start of registrations for the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Water Award. This aims to bring about sustainable ideas that would help against water scarcity. There are three main categories to the competition: The Innovative Projects Award worth USD 500,000.00, The Innovative Research and Development Award consisting of National and International Institutions worth USD 200,000.00 each, and the Inno-

vative Youth Award amounting to USD 100,000.00 “This award supports the efforts of Dubai and the UAE to help alleviate the suffering of the needy around the world.” Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Chairman of the foundation. “The foundation is working to provide water to the disadvantaged and distressed.” He added. This might be a good way to further the studies directed towards water shortage around the world and it might be the source of a new and renewable system.
