EXPLORERS GILLISPIE

Dear Gillispie Families, Welcome to Gillispie Summer Explorers, where adventure and learning go hand in hand!

Offering an exciting Early Childhood Camp for students ages 2-5 and a diverse array of Elementary Camp classes for children in Grades K-6, we invite all Gillispie students enrolled in the 2025-26 school year to join us for a summer program ﬁlled with exploration and discovery.

At Gillispie Summer Explorers, we offer a wide range of activities and adventures including sports, arts & crafts, cooking, engineering, theater, swimming, and more! Our camp is designed to provide children with unique summer experiences that will allow them to explore, create, and learn new things in a safe and nurturing environment, keeping your children engaged and excited all summer long.

Gillispie Summer Explorers is a fun and educational experience that will create memories to last a lifetime. We look forward to exploring with your child this summer! To enroll, please visit our website, gillispie.org/current-families!

Early Childhood & Elementary Camp Hours

Half-Day: 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

Drop-oﬀ: 8:45 - 9:00 a.m.

Pick-up: 12:00 - 12:15 p.m.

Full-Day: 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Drop-oﬀ: 8:45 - 9:00 a.m.

Pick-up: 3:00 - 3:15 p.m.

Snacks and Lunch

All campers need to bring healthy snacks daily. Elementary students enrolled in full-day camp and all Early Childhood students need to pack a lunch daily.

Dress Code

Uniforms are not required. Students need to wear socks and sneakers to camp daily. Children can change into sandals for water play and swim camp.

Refund Policy

Camps will run only if there is adequate enrollment. If the minimum class size is not met, a full refund will be given. A refund of 100% of the tuition for any class may be obtained for requests made before May 15, 2025, and a refund of 75% of the tuition for any class may be obtained for requests made 2 weeks before the class start date. After that time, no refunds will be issued. Refunds will be issued at a prorated rate for any cancellations deemed necessary by the School.

Fees are prorated for holidays.

Sibling Discount

Families with three or more children enrolled in the same session will receive a 10% discount.

Grade Level and Conduct

All grade levels listed refer to the grade the student will be entering in August 2025. Conduct expectations are outlined on our website at gillispie.org/current-families. Gillispie reserves the absolute right to disenroll a student at any time for any reason.

Early Childhood Camp

Welcome to Early Childhood Summer Explorers!

Our Early Childhood camp is designed to provide a fun and engaging environment for young children to construct their own understanding of the world around them. We believe that children are natural learners who thrive in an environment that allows them to explore and discover at their own pace. Gillispie Explorers gives early childhood campers the summer version of our hands-on learning program that happens during the school year. Children will spend plenty of time outdoors, sparking curiosity with engaging provocations including sensory play, dramatic play, creative art projects, and refreshing water play. Camp staff are all current Gillispie teachers who continue to nurture the learning journey of each child. Our experienced and caring teachers are committed to fostering a positive and inclusive community where children feel valued and supported.

Parents can expect to receive a detailed welcome letter before the start of each session. The following items will be requested: swimsuit & towel, sunscreen, lunch & snacks, sheet or blanket, change of shoes & clothing.

To participate, students must be two years old by the first day of camp and enrolled in the Early Childhood program at Gillispie for the 2025-26 school year. Sessions will take place in the Littles Cottage.

Action All-Star Camp, Grades 1-6

This action-packed camp is perfect for kids who love to move and have fun! Young athletes will hit the field and court for action-packed days filled with soccer, football, street hockey, basketball, and lacrosse. Through drills, skills training, and gameplay, campers will develop fundamentals, learn strategies, and build confidence in a supportive and exciting environment. Sportsmanship and teamwork are at the heart of every activity, ensuring that every child feels like an all-star. Pack a swimsuit and towel on Fridays, as the competition cools down with wet and wild water fun!

Crafty Kids’ Club, Grades 1-6

Give your child the perfect outlet for creativity this summer! Our crafty campers will explore a variety of hands-on projects, from weaving friendship bracelets and painting colorful rock art to building fun popsicle stick creations and more. Each day brings new opportunities for artistic expression, problem-solving, and imaginative fun. Depending on student skill level and interest, each day will be packed with engaging arts and crafts, imaginative projects, and exciting outdoor games on our beautiful campus. Explorer Camp is the perfect place for young creators, adventurers, and game lovers to make new friends and unforgettable summer memories!

Pokémon Camp, Grades K-6

In this ultimate Pokémon adventure, campers will embark on a thrilling journey through the Pokémon universe. From exploring vibrant regions to learning about the incredible Pokémon that inhabit them, this camp is perfect for both beginners and seasoned trainers alike. Kids will learn the rules of the Pokémon card game, create their own Pokémon decks, and compete in friendly matches with fellow campers. With personalized card sets and folders, each participant will join fluid groups based on age, ability, and interest as they work to CATCH 'em ALL! Students are welcome to register for more than one Pokémon camp though some activities may be repeated.

Thinking Eye Art Workshop, Grades K- 2

In this engaging art camp, young artists will explore drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, and mixed media using their "Thinking Eye" to see the world in new and imaginative ways. With hands-on projects inspired by nature, famous artists, and their own creativity, children will develop artistic skills while expressing themselves through a variety of materials, from pencils and paint to clay and ink. Whisk & Wonder: Storybook Cooking Camp, Grades 1-5

In this imaginative and hands-on camp, young chefs will step into the pages of beloved storybooks and bring them to life one delicious dish at a time! Each day, campers will explore a different children’s story and create a recipe inspired by its characters and adventures. Young actors will step into the magical world of Oz, where the wizard is trying to rid the land of talking animals, and the so-called "wicked witch" is an animal rights advocate who’s best friends with the good witch. When a wizard spins everything into chaos, the adventure truly begins! In this unique camp, kids will immerse themselves in acting, theater games, and singing, gaining confidence and skills as they bring these beloved characters to life. Fun in the Sun Camp, Grades K-6

The fun continues with a sun-soaked afternoon of adventure! Campers will pack a lunch and stay for the day, enjoying a mix of creative crafts, awesome activities, and fun field games on our beautiful Gillispie campus. Students should pack a swimsuit and towel on Fridays, as the camp cools down with wet and wild water fun!

Super Swimmers, Grades K-6

Campers will pack a lunch and stay for an afternoon of swimming at the pool! Starting with a walk to the Coggan Family Aquatic Complex, kids will be grouped by ability and receive expert swimming lessons from Coggan’s swim instructors. After their lessons, campers will make a splash enjoying free swim time in the pool, with certified lifeguards ensuring a safe and fun environment. The camp day ends with a walk back to Gillispie for a little play time before pickup. Swimmers should wear their swimsuits to camp and bring towels, sandals, sunscreen, and goggles.

Calling all future astronauts! Young adventurers will blast off on an unforgettable journey through the cosmos. They’ll explore distant planets, uncover the secrets of twinkling stars and dazzling galaxies, and even build their own mini-rockets! Hands-on experiments, creative projects, and interactive activities will ignite their curiosity about astronomy, physics, and space science. Whether they’re charting alien worlds or imagining encounters with extraterrestrials, this camp is designed to inspire wonder, creativity, and a love for exploration. This out-of-this-world experience will send your child’s imagination soaring!

In our STEAM camp, young minds will dive into an exciting world where science, technology, engineering, art, and math come together in the most creative ways! Campers will work on hands-on projects that encourage problem-solving, teamwork, and innovation. Through fun experiments and artistic design challenges, they’ll discover how these subjects combine to build everything from cool inventions to works of art. Taylor Swift Fan Club, Grades 1-6

Calling all Fearless Swifties! If your child knows All Too Well that Taylor Swift is the ultimate icon, this camp is their Wildest Dream come true. Campers will Shake It Off with high-energy dance parties, belt out their favorite hits in sing-alongs, and get crafty making Bejeweled friendship bracelets and custom Taylor-themed T-shirts. Through Swift-inspired games and activities, they’ll make Enchanted memories with fellow fans. Whether they’re designing, dancing, or just celebrating their love for Taylor, this camp is The Best Day for any young Swiftie and will leave them saying, I Wish You Would let me stay longer! In this action-packed performance camp, your child will DESCEND into an exciting story with four villain kids who know that being "good" is the new bad. Perfect for young performers who love to act, sing, and bring creative stories to life, this camp builds confidence and skills through theatre games and character exploration. In this nature-inspired art camp, young artists will take their creativity outside, using the beautiful gardens around Gillispie’s Art Bungalow as both inspiration and studio space. From plein air easel painting and botanical drawings to nature sculptures, ceramic gnomes, birdhouses, and rock painting, every project connects art with the beauty of the outdoors. With fresh air, sunshine, and hands-on exploration, this camp nurtures artistic expression while fostering a deeper appreciation for nature. Leap into Learning Week One Group, Grades 3-6

This camp focuses on reading, writing, and math readiness to help your child feel prepared and excited for the next grade level. Minds in Motion Maker Camp, Grades 2-6

How can you design a car that moves using only rubber bands and cardboard? What’s the best way to build a launcher that sends a ping-pong ball the farthest? In this class, young inventors will tackle questions like these in exciting hands-on challenges that spark creativity and critical thinking. Depending on student skill level and interest, campers will experiment with paper, foil, wire, tape, and other everyday materials to invent, construct, and test their creations. This camp nurtures problem-solving, teamwork, and the joy of discovery in a fun, handson environment where imagination knows no limits!

In this inventors’ workshop, young makers will tackle hands-on design challenges like these that inspire creativity, problem-solving, and innovation. Depending on student skill level and interest, they’ll use safe and effective techniques to design and build with paper, foil, wire, tape, and more, transforming everyday materials into amazing creations.
