year, the Glendale Girls’ Tennis team’s biggest challenge was finding who was willing to step up and take initiative after losing their top players the previous season. Megan Wade (12), Claire Stevenson (12), and Addison Carpenter (12) were three seniors who led the varsity team and became role models for the younger players.

“Stepping up and leading the team has been both a challenging and rewarding experience,” Wade said. “As a top player, there is a lot of responsibility, but it also gives me a chance to motivate and set the tone for everyone else.”

There are 12 seniors on the team this season, three of them being on top varsity. For these seniors, tennis has been more than just a sport, but a vital part of life.

“Tennis has taught me how to grow, fail, learn, and overcome in all aspects of my life,” Carpenter said. “I am going to miss the team a lot.”

For the younger players on the team, working with these strong bonds allow them to look ahead to a bright future.

“I am looking forward to another great season of matches,” Avery Murray (9) said. I am eager to grow in my skills and leadership in the years to come.”
