Open Evening 2011 Glenthorne opened its doors to the general public and to prospective pupils and parents on Wednesday 5th October. We welcomed well over a thousand visitors, who toured the school with Glenthorne pupils as guides seeing the school’s excellent accommodation facilities and resources and talking to staff about the curriculum and opportunities offered by the school. There was also a presentation in the hall; Mr Hume explained the school’s vision, values and ethos; two of our head students, Sophie Wills and Jack Dandy reflected on their experiences over the past six years; the Jazz Band played; and two of our new Yr7s, Harry Wilson and Francesca Wilson (no relation!) described their emotions on their first day at High School. It proved to be an enjoyable and exhilarating evening and a wonderful celebration of the school’s success and achievements and the school’s recent excellent GCSE and A Level results. Thank you to all parents who visited the school and thank you for your positive and highly complimentary feedback! “Very friendly staff & pupils, tour guide was excellent, lovely Headteacher’s speech, lovely grounds, range of topics/subjects to study – brilliant!” “Lovely school, was very impressed in what the school has to offer”
