TRD-Unit The TRD-Unit (Torque Ramp Down Unit) is a wear-free Eddy Current Brake designed to reduce the dimensional loads of your WEC. Unpredictable interruptions in a WEC´s power flow (e.g. grid loss) can lead to high, damaging loads. However, SET´s TRD-Unit is capable of controlling the power flow in the drive train. Consequently, the main components will not be subjected to an excess of loads anymore. The fast response and the good controllability of the TRD-Unit leads to an increase of the availability and service life of the whole WEC.
