Broad Lea is listed as Howard Van Doren Shaw’s earliest works in Lake Forest.

Shaw himself purchased the land to create several summer residences including Broad Lea, and the neighboring Ragdale, the Shaw family home.

Originally Designed for Dr Nathan Davis, Jr in the Tudor cottage style. In 2014, the present owners, while honoring Shaw’s original vision, gave the house and gardens a stylish makeover, in collaboration with Austin DePree, Northworks Architects and Craig Bergmann Landscape Design.

The result, a beautifully designed home perfect for a young active family.

Tucked into the woods, down a private lane, “Broad Lea’s” Black and White exterior adds a dash of formality to the home’s original summer cottage character.
